My husband and I came in tonight based on the 4.5 star rating, and we will not be back. Customer service was non-existent, and the food was subpar. When we walked in, we were greeted only with a stare, and only after we said hi she asked if it was for there or to-go. Shortly after we ordered our food, a big group came in and sat. Somehow, they had their food before we did even though it was only the two of us and we ordered first. We ordered the chicken satay for an appetizer, but it came out at the same time as my pad thai. My husband's mixed seafood pad se ew came out later. The pad thai was entirely too sweet, and missing the tang of the tamarind. We were only checked on once during our meal, and none of the dirty dishes were cleared. No one ever asked if we wanted refills on our water or drinks. When we were done with our food, we sat there for almost 15 minutes to which again, no one came to clear dishes, ask if we wanted boxes, or bring the check. I had to go to the counter to ask for two boxes. I thought at that point they would see we were ready for the check, but again we sat and waited but the check didn't come. The server passed us by several times without a glance (she also never smiled once). We finally flagged her down and asked if we should just go to the front to pay or if they would bring a check and she just said it didn't matter, so we went to the front to pay, and left.
Also, my husband has a steel stomach especially when it comes to seafood, but I will just say his stomach was not happy and he had to use the restroom immediately upon arriving home. Definitely cannot recommend this...
Read moreI ordered pineapple fried rice and chicken satay. I didn’t look at the prices and I should have. The prices for this place are very high. I had high hopes because Siamese street in Stockton has amazing pineapple fried rice. Also my husband has had Thai in Davis at Sophia’s Thai kitchen. He also agreed prices were very high and the portions were small for the price. The pineapple fried rice lacked flavor. It had 6-7 pieces of pineapple and half were core and not edible. I buy and eat pineapple constantly from Walmart, Sam’s, Costco. This pineapple was terrible. I felt like they were charging premium prices for sub par ingredients. I’m betting part of the lack of flavor is the terrible pineapple they are using. My husband even looked up the prices of Sophia’s for the chicken satay and it’s $9 compared to $13.45 I was charged and he was pretty sure you get 5 skewers instead of 4. He also said they taste better there. I would have tried other dishes if these were good but I won’t be back. The pineapple fried rice with chicken was 16.45 I believe and they charge 4% for using a credit card on...
Read moreTERRIBLE SERVICE and an UNINVITING ATMOSPHERE. Came in today with my family who came into town for lunch. The place was empty. 2 workers were sitting on a front table filling sauce containers and did not greet us or say anything. I asked if the restaurant was open and they just said yes. I asked if they could clean the table we were going to sit at because it hadn’t been cleaned and was given an attitude. After the table was cleaned we sat down. No one came to us for 15 minutes. Someone else came in during that time and was greeted and they took their order. Not sure what the deal was but we decided to leave.
Of note, one of the workers kept staring at us and never said anything. Felt quite uncomfortable. Looking at similarities to other reviews of this restaurant, I can’t help but notice some racism towards darker toned individuals. DO NOT come here. Spend your...
