This is definitely one of those first time and last time places. To be fair I was warned by a friend that this place was horrible.
There' was 5 of us dining for my daughter's bday. 2 of our party members went earlier to get the table as when we called they said it would be 1.5hours and they don't take reservations. They get there and are told 30 mins for a party of 5.. ok flying from south sac to natomas and make it 5 minutes to spare. Go to the counter at 40 minutes and they say oh 10 more minutes.... 15 minutes passes oh they are gonna be setting it up right now they are moving a party for a gift exchange.. 20 minutes later after that... ok we can seat you now
Lady takes our order for beverages. Comes back with beverages and takes food orders all seems to be ok... comes out with our appetizers and hot sake.. Talking amongst ourselves and a few minutes later chef comes out.. verifies everyone's orders and gets to cooking. So chef starts making the fried rice and meats.. no big show.. no flair.. finishes the fried rice passes it out to everyone except my son who requested white rice... fried rice is very not fried rice but yeah... that's fine lobster filet mignon and squid add on should be amazing right ? Wrong.. same seasoning for everydish.. black pepper. Garlic salt?;And teriyaki sauce... I'm not talking just the meats. But everything the fried rice the vegetables the shrimps the meats. The seafood. Everything...
Everything except texture tasted identical. Anyways I can't even finish cuz it's blah and untasteful.. I start talking to my kids and they both agree very subpar food.. both are done and the other 2 in our party is as well... There was another couple of two others as well.. I noticed every drink on the table was empty.. no refills and hey my kid never got his white rice.. I speak to the manager not making a scene as it's been about 10 minutes after everyone was done eating and I noticed this so how long were people without their beverages and our server had passed us up multiple times... Everyone is getting up to leave at this point and they bring out my kid white rice and ask if we like refills..
They did give a 10% discount but it was still $225 after discount. I would have been more satisfied at the brewhouse or even McDonald's across the street.
All in all.. no thank you....
Read moreI hadn’t been to Tokyo Steakhouse in years. My brother invited me today. I ordered the New York steak with a side of scallops and fried rice. My brother ordered the filet mignon with a side of shrimp and fried rice. We were having a great day together. Our chef was very nice, except a ton of oil was used on our food. Everything was extremely greasy, when you factor in all of the additional oil from the bacon fat.
The real problem I have with today’s visit is that we spent $100 including food and drinks for lunch and our waitress kept coming over asking if we wanted to settle our bill. At one point, my fork was going up to my mouth to eat. Clearly, I am not finished and ready to pay my bill. She approached three times not even 10 minutes apart! I still had a plate full of rice and vegetables when I finally asked her to stop coming over while I was eating. The chef had literally just left. The meal is not given to you all at once, so we finally had a full plate and were still dining.
The third time she came over, I asked her politely to stop coming over while I was clearly still eating. I assured her that we were not going to run out on our bill, so she did not have to keep coming over there. She was not asking us if we needed anything, she was asking if we wanted to settle our bill. I try not to play the race card, but we were the only table with two separate parties of African Americans. The rest of the restaurant started filling up with other races. The other African-American couple sitting with us said they come in all the time and are treated the same way. Rushed and nagged to pay their bill. I assured them that it will not happen again to me and my brother because we will not be back.
I was so upset by the interaction that I asked for a manager and explained how this waitress was making us feel. The manager did apologize and told us we could stay as long as we wanted, but the damage was done. We paid and left! They are definitely...
Read moreOk so our family went to Tokyo steakhouse with high hopes for a beautiful experience and meal. We ended up being very disappointed. I'm pretty sure it was only because we chose to go the cheaper way of not sitting at the tempanaki grill. We were too close to the bathrooms and eewww. Each time a different patron went into the bathroom you could hear their grossed out reaction to having to enter the space. We were at least happy that we never had to use it. So to start the miso soup was a little bland. The little salad was eh. The rice came out next but we wanted to eat it with our meal but as an appetizer so we let it sit there while we waited for our food. My husband's steak came out next. It looked ok. He ate it but wasn't too impressed. Our kids both got the seafood tempura combo and they had no way of knowing what was what on the plate. So we all laughed and looked at it like it was a game and new adventure lol. The scallops were disgusting. I took a bite because I didn't believe them that it could be that bad. I got sand out the small bite I took and it was so so fishy I couldn't swallow it. Scallops need to be cleaned well. Ugh I started to get mad but nobody wanted to tell our waitress who seemed way too busy for the few people that chose to sit on the side we were on. She was nice but we didn't want to stress her out. So by the time my boat dish came i was really hungry and dug right in. My beef teriyaki was cold but I ate it because I was so hungry. I did like the teriyaki sauce but we needed soy sauce and nobody wanted to ask for it. My tempura was good it was the best part of my meal. Unfortunately we will never return and will find some place better and a place that's worth $100 for a family of 4 to eat. At least we tried something new just ended up...
