Charged $59 for a Health Hazard — Sharp Wire in Food, Filthy Equipment, and rude staff

This was not just a bad meal—it was a serious safety risk wrapped in rude service and poor hygiene.

Upon arriving at Daikon Korean BBQ (North Sacramento), I was greeted by no one. No manager, no staff—just shoved onto a waitlist with a cold attitude. First, I was told it would be a 20-minute wait, then told my table was ready via text, only to be told again it would be another 10–15 minutes. The online waitlist system then kicked me off altogether. Total mess.

Once seated, the only way to keep the server’s attention was through constant eye contact. Service was inattentive and robotic (literally—they use robots to drop off food, but don’t train the humans to follow through).

But the real issue? I found sharp metal wire embedded in the food—specifically, coming from the BBQ grate they supplied to go over the flame. These weren’t stray hairs—these were thin strands from steel wool, used for scrubbing. If swallowed, they could cause internal bleeding or death. This is not a joke. It is a serious health code violation.

Their response? A casual offer of $5 off the bill. When I pushed for management, they bumped it to $12 off. Still, I was charged $59 for a meal that could have put me in the hospital.

To make it worse: • The water pitcher they served us had dirt on the side. • There is no sauce bar like other KBBQ or hot pot spots. • Portions were tiny—not remotely worth the price.

As someone who has worked in the restaurant industry, as a manager I can confidently say this meal should have been comped entirely, with a formal apology and offer to make it right. Instead, they acted like I was a bother. I will be filing a formal Complaint to the health department as the stack of grates was consistently used even after my complaint

Do not eat here. This isn’t just bad service—it’s an active...

We just recently ate at this location with a party of 11, food was good and service was okay throughout our meal. But when it came to paying at the end, our server informed us that we can only split the check up too 3 cards and were not willing to split the check appropriately to each corresponding party. In which within the 11 guests, there were 3 couples and 5 individual guests, wanting to pay their own portion, now having to figure out how to pay and how it was now going to be split. We asked our server several times if there were any way to split the check accordingly several times and it was a hard no each time. This lead to almost 30 minutes all of us trying to figure out how to split this accordingly and brought down what was an enjoyable dinner to probably the worst experience I’ve ever had paying at a restaurant. Being a former server myself, I used to split checks to however many ways the party wanted. Because at the end of the day it’s all about the party leaving with less stress and happy with the experience. But this was just absolutely ridiculous and honestly lazy of the server not wanting to just do some math and split the check, especially how gratuity was included. For how much our party paid for the gratuity, the least the server can do is simply split the checks. Honestly this is my first time writing a review for a restaurant and don’t enjoy writing this (especially being a former restaurant worker). But this needs to be said and hopefully this is seen from the establishment and know that due to the horrible ending experience, we all left with a little sour tastes in our mouths. So please for future customers, change your policy to be able to split checks accordingly. Because Daikon overall does serve quality food, but the experience can be bogged down for bigger parties due to the apparent inconvenience on the restaurant part, on not wanting to simply...

I visited this restaurant on 2/13/2021 at 9:10 pm, for the first time based on it’s raving reviews about the service and food. When my fiancé and I got there, the hostess said they closed at 10 pm, which was fine because we were seated quickly. Our waiter, John M., was busy so we waited about 10 minutes before we could order our food and drinks. While we were ordering, he was rushing us to order our food. Our appetizers came out at around 9:25 pm and the raw meat came out at around 9:30 pm. We still had not received our soft drinks, even after 3 times of asking our waiter. Finally, after the 4th attempt, our drinks were brought to us AFTER we were done with our food. During the entirety of our visit, our waiter was not attending to our table whatsoever. He spent the majority of his time at the table right across from us. We grew tired of waiting to gain his attention so that we could order our second round, so we waved him down to get the bill. At this time it was 9:45 pm and he asked us if we wanted to order anything else, but we told him no because they were about to close and did not want to be rushed to eat. I asked for a to-go box for the 3 lemon pepper wings and a handful of fries I had left, but he said that there are no to-go boxes for the AYCE menu. I told him that because I have braces it is difficult for me to chew my food so could I take it home, but he still refused. At this point I was upset and then he gave us the bill. As we proceeded to walk over to the cash register near the kitchen, he was in the kitchen holding my card and receipt in hand talking about my fiancé and me. At this point I was completely done and did not want to be there a second longer. To have paid $65 for this lack of service, I feel that I should be compensated for this awful experience. I will not be going back to be...
