My husband and I initially enjoyed our meal here, but unfortunately, our experience left us feeling disappointed and uncomfortable. While we were dining, we noticed that we seemed to be treated differently than the other guests. We were the only ones who appeared to be in our late 20s at the time, which shouldn’t have mattered but felt like it did.

We paid our bill, leaving $150 on the table, including a $45 tip, and were making our way out. As we said thank you to the person who introduced himself as the chef and soon-to-be owner (who also sat us and waited on us), we thought the night was ending on a pleasant note. But as I was stepping out the door and my husband was halfway out, we suddenly heard, “Excuse me, folks,” shouted across the restaurant in front of everyone. When we turned around, the same man loudly announced, “The card didn’t go through.” My husband quickly responded that we hadn’t used a card and that the cash was still on the table where we’d been seated. Without another word, we left feeling embarrassed and humiliated.

The next day, my husband called to speak with the man to share how we felt about the incident. While he apologized and explained that he’d been on edge due to two prior “dine-and-dash” incidents that evening, he offered a free meal as a way to make amends. However, having worked in customer service myself, I know that such situations don’t excuse making assumptions or passing judgment. It’s part of the job to treat every guest with fairness and professionalism.

This experience made us feel judged and discriminated against, whether because of our age, race, or some other factor, and that is not okay. It’s disheartening because we genuinely enjoyed the food and atmosphere, but after this, we would rather spend our time and money where it’s...

This was my first time visiting La Porta, and it won’t be my last! My partner absolutely loves Italian food, and after being impressed by their online menu, we decided to try this local spot.

Even though we didn’t have a reservation—and the restaurant was bustling with multiple large parties—they graciously found a way to seat us, which we truly appreciated.

The service was exceptional. Our waitress was not only friendly but also incredibly knowledgeable about both the food and wine offerings. We decided to share the Beet and Burrata salad and the Brescia pizza, both of which were absolutely phenomenal. Despite how busy it was, the food arrived quickly and was incredible.

What truly set La Porta apart for us was the outstanding experience we had at the end of our meal. While paying, there was a glitch with Toast that mistakenly charged my card twice (this was in no way the staff's fault). Aaron, the Restaurant Manager, went above and beyond to resolve the issue. He promptly attempted to refund the charges and even gave me his personal cell number in case the refund didn’t go through. Later, when I noticed that both charges had been refunded, I called Aaron to reinstate one of the charges. He was incredibly kind and insisted the meal was on the house, encouraging us to return—something we will absolutely be doing!

La Porta is a rare find: 🍽 10/10 food 👩‍🍳 10/10 service 📋 10/10 management

I can’t recommend this...

A visit to La Porta Restaurant & Bar is a delightful experience for any pizza lover. The ambiance is inviting, and the aroma of fresh pizza baking in the oven is irresistible.

One of the standout options is the Catania Pizza, which perfectly balances the spice of pepperoni with the sweetness of hot honey, topped off with fresh basil and parmesan. It's a unique flavor combination that leaves you wanting more.

For those who appreciate a bit more complexity in their pizza, the Belluno Pizza is a must-try. The mix of spicy sausage, pepperoncini, roasted garlic, and Calabrian peppers, all brought together with a tangy basil pesto and goat cheese, is simply sublime.

Not to be overlooked, the Milan Pizza offers a lighter fare with its fresh cherry tomatoes and a drizzle of balsamic reduction on top of a classic base of mozzarella and American tomato sauce. It’s a testament to the power of high-quality, simple ingredients.

The service at La Porta is as impressive as their food. The staff is knowledgeable, recommending the perfect dish to suit personal tastes and ensuring a memorable dining experience. Whether you're a local or just passing through, La Porta Restaurant & Bar promises an exceptional pizza experience that stands out in Sacramento’s...

Stopped in here on a whim on football Sunday looking for a spot to grab a drink and watch a game. It's difficult to spot at first as it's housed inside of the commercial building next to the Mercedes dealership. We were greeted by chef Aaron who had a great personality and was eager to serve us. We had a few cocktails and then had the Muscles Italiano, followed by the Panino Bocconcini. I can honestly say both were the best I ever had. The mussels had this tomato puree on it made with Pinot Grigio and garlic that you could drink. The Bocconcini bread was butter fried, soft and delicious. We ended the meal with the homemade Tiramisu and that was equally delicious as well! After talking with chef Aaron we found out he makes almost the entire menu from scratch. It's apparent he's a high quality chef. We didn't expect to find such a great place inside a building like this but couldn't be happier that we decided to give it a try. We are locals and will definitely be back for more, we can't wait to try the rest of the menu!
