The first time I came in for my dinner to go was a great experience. The young man that works there was completely helpful and so professional. The last time that I came to pick up my order last week, most of the food was great but the lamb kabobs were tiny pieces, they had cost much more since the last time I was there only two months before and nothing what I would normally get at any of my other Napalese/Indian restaurants that I frequent and here’s what was really what disappointed me… when I went to pick up my order, and giving a big tip for a take out, the owner and/or manager was not very friendly and seemed to never smile.. I complemented him on the last time I ordered take away and how kind and informative the young employee was to me, he seemed bothered that I complimented his staff member.. So, I think I’ll be going to my original Kathmandu Kitchen in Davis from now on. They actually remember me there and since I had moved out of the area and my son lives in midtown Sacramento, I was trying to find a nice alternative that would be close to his home so that I can order a nice dinner for everyone. This place bought the original Indian restaurant (junoon) to capitalize on their good name and profit take as much as possible before they inevitably go out of business. This place is a scam. $20 for a “curry” plus naan, which probably cost them $3 or less to make because they are using canned soup and throwing raw chicken in as a substitute or homemade curry.
As a preface to the rest of this: my girlfriend and I eat roasted red pepper soup all of the time, this is why we knew almost immediately.
$40 for roasted red pepper soup with boiled chicken in the soup (“Tika Masala”) and garbanzo beans with tomatoes (“Chana”). They threw some seasoning in both and called it good. No homemade tomato based sauces here. No yogurt marinated baked or roasted chicken. The chewiest boiled plain pieces of meat (probably 4oz total). If you want this Indian food, just go to any grocer, get a chicken breast or two $5ish, roasted red pepper soup $1.99, one can of garbanzo beans $2.99, a tomato $1 and some naan yeast (5 pack for $1). Then enjoy twice as much food for a quarter the price. Take a look at this red pepper soup…straight up plain chicken...
Read moreI recently had the pleasure of dining at New Kathmandu Kitchen in East Sacramento and I have to say, it was a fantastic experience! I ordered the channa bhatura and it was both delicious and filling. The chickpeas were spiced perfectly and the bhatura was fresh and fluffy. It was clear that the food was made with care and high-quality ingredients.
Aside from the fantastic food, the owners were very friendly and welcoming, which added to the overall great experience. The restaurant was also very clean and had a great ambiance. It was a comfortable and cozy atmosphere that was perfect for enjoying a meal with friends or family.
Additionally, parking was very convenient and easily accessible, which was a nice bonus. Overall, I would highly recommend New Kathmandu Kitchen to anyone looking for delicious, high-quality food and a great dining experience. It's clear that the owners take pride in their business and strive to provide excellent service to their customers. Thank you for such a wonderful...
