Wow, shockingly this legendarily horrible motel gets worse! It won’t surprise anyone that a motel so crime-ridden that it has a police annex station ONSITE to do unannounced room searches more efficiently is not the place to get a peaceful night sleep. What is surprising is despite the police presence and a security guard this place still isn’t safe after dark. Scary aggressive homeless people, criminals, gang members and illegal aliens are always swarming this place. Luckily I’m immune to a lot of the danger because I have a big mean looking dog I take everywhere and he loves acting crazy when provoked. So when my roommates Aunt was visiting I offered to get a room so she could stay in my room. I really just needed a bed to sleep as it was 10 o’clock when I made the reservation and had to work in the morning. I opened the Motel 6 app (My6) and searched the area then sorted by lowest price. There she was, $58 plus tax and the best policy ever… “No deposit required” right on the main page. I was booking on the official company app and how else would the usual cast of characters there get rooms so I proceeded without a second thought. A half hour later I arrived to a basically empty parking lot. There was the sweaty guy yelling to himself as he dug through the trash cans and an unwelcome surprise in every corner and dimly lit area but quieter than the weekend before when I passed by. I went to the office and was confused because there were people inside but the door was locked. I went to the window but the employee just gave me a strange look. I waited a few minutes and the employee walked to the door and opened it. I started to walk towards her and she said the lobby is closed, let someone out and locked the door. A few moments later she appeared at the window and asked if she could help me. I told her I had made a reservation and presented my ID. She returned to her computer and did a bunch of things, unsure how much was related to my stay and then came to the window and said I’ll just need your major credit card for the deposit, no debit or prepaid cards accepted. I explained I had just made the reservation and it clearly stated “No deposit required”. She asked me to show her and insisted the owner had removed that language when updating their policy online. I navigated through the app and showed her what I was referring to. Apparently while he was changing the policy to be more exclusive and discriminatory he missed one. Certainly this oversight has nothing to do with me and their policy disclosed during checkout that bound them to the terms of their own conditions would be honored, right? She asked if I would provide a major credit card to place a $50 hold on for up to two weeks. Purely out of principle now I refused. I made a reservation and I was what I’ve paid for. She agreed with me but said she would have to check with the owner Barry. I went to my car for a few minutes and when I returned she was refusing service to two people because they wanted to leave a cash deposit for the room they reserved. I stepped up to the window and she said no, the owner has cancelled your reservation. I asked about my refund. She said the charge hadn’t been processed and the authorization should be released in a few minutes. I got in my car and looked at my cards app. Charge still very much there. Next morning I contact my bank and the charge was processed and had posted before I even arrived at the motel. The clerk flat out lied to me. I called M6 customer service and they confirmed the charge went through. They also advised me refunds are only given on reservations cancelled before 6 PM on day of check in and nothing indicating a refund had been initiated. I sent the front desk clerk a screenshot the night before so I sent her a text message asking for clarification, but never received a reply. Five days later, after I paid $67 to drive downtown, waste an hour arguing and then return home to sleep on my own couch, no apology or refund. No pending transactions with...
Read moreSo I say it like this the rooms are fairly nice. That is if you get lucky enough to not get a room with bed bugs. Normally I wouldn't leave a review on a motel because I believe everybody needs to you know make their money however it goes. But when you lose professionalism because you're frustrated with a question and you do not give the respect that is due specially to somebody that's residing in your hotel it makes me wonder a little bit more about the hotel. Now the staff cleaning they're all remarkable you have two young ladies that work in the window they are both very helpful and they're both very friendly well as friendly as Sacramento can get. The owner of this Motel 6 not the managers the people who are behind that desk they are all very friendly and helpful. The owner of the establishment you know just the light in the situation he needs a hug a teddy bear and some type of religion or spirituality because he's too uptight he's too high strong and he's got a way of speaking to people that make you feel really disrespected. I've learned to try and see pass people when they're angry upset or what have you because it could be having a bad day or something severe going on in your life such as myself I recently just lost a grandchild and this man has no idea what's going on in my head instead of him trying to hear me very abruptly Jesse explain to me four different ways on why I could not stay there for this evening because I found bed bugs in his room one of his rooms the exact room 251 so if you ever give you that room don't do it. I wasn't going to leave a complaint but being that it's really dwelling in my head how rude this man was when I was being nothing but kind and respectful. I do know I'm annoying but in the situation I was being calm patient and as understanding as I could be. Now here's about the hotel it's in a decent place to where you can get to multiple stores Grocery and fast food alike it's close to the light rail is the IHOP right around the corner from it. And if you're a drug addict I'm sure with the type of people that are hanging outside and loitering and lingering I'm sure you're fine whatever you're looking for. Now if you're looking for a place that has bed bugs drug addicts drug dealers a horrible atmosphere a rude owner and the possible chance that you catch something this is the place to be. Again there are good things about it there's no security deposit. Now across the street there was a place called the midtowner it rooms are cheaper and the rooms basically look like the Holiday Inn the staff is extremely friendly you get a complimentary breakfast and you're paying about $10 less than you would at this place I will say that I have not seen any roaches as far as inside the room which is a great thing and if you're okay with the police constantly being there then this is the place for you if you're okay with meth addicts and Fentanyl users alcoholics potheads. But if you're definitely looking to be into that type of environment hell yeah let's pay almost a quarter of $100 every single day to be in a bed bug infested place one thing I will say is solely because of the staff and it's convenient to...
Read moreThe online booking experience is acceptable, they provide filtered photos of the room and the building. They accept all major credit card on the website but not at this location. I thought that by ready reviews and googling the area around I'd be able to pick the best motel 6 in the area. I was wrong. I booked 2 weeks online and at check in was told I can't stay for two weeks. When I asked if that was a state or local law I wasn't given an answer. I should have know that something was wrong when I first pulled up and there was a garbage can in the middle of the parking lot and trash all over the parking lot. There was a shirtless sun baked guy yelling at the pool throwing things at passing cars and the pull. There was a line 5 people deep at the check in window. I was able to find a parking spot near the window and waited for the window to clear out. When I went up to the window and started checking in the shirtless guy came up started yelling he was some kind of inspector and clawing at the fire extinguisher that was behind glass next to me after a few seconds he got agitated and kicked the glass braking it, glass few everywhere got in my shoes cut my shin. The person behind the window didn't even look phased like this happens daily. Finally after getting checked in I get room it was not in a good state. I was a expecting tom come in and clean I mean there a pandemic and even at the best of time motel 6 isn't clean. I don't blame the house keepers those poop people work hard enough and only get mins to clean. But the mini fridge was broken there was hair in the bathroom and sink and the shower was stained. As I was cleaning I also found a smoke alarm and hard black rubber ball under the matteres. The bathroom door looked like some punched it and just kinda patched up. There wasn't a lot of noise after the police came and removed that shirtless guy. All that and when I woke up the next morning I was cited for parking, I guess the person at the window didn't register my car was parked there after she made me giver her my plat number. If you've read this far I'll point out that I've stayed at motel 6 all over the us as I travel a lot I won't say this was the worst, I have super low expectations of motel 6 but I paid about $1100 for a two week stay that almost a full months worth of rent and I could only stay one night. I was physically scared for me and my car. They ruined my vacation I couldn't find last minute place to stay so I had to cancel a car rent a trip into San Francisco and my trip had to be modified last minute. Here I am 5 days after my 1 night stay and I'm still trying to get my money back. I know this review won't do much to improve this location as it's a franchise and I know it won't do much to save people from staying here because well let's face I booked with motel cuz I can afford to pay twice at other locations. Just please be aware and keep an eye lock your cars and don't walk around alone outside in the parking lot. I want to point out a homeless camp is a cross the street but other than that the extended area seems nice-ish lots of places to eat...
