Read moreWe came early, the front patio was full of dirty clothes. When you walk in there are boxes of pastries on display, no signs explaining how it works. the employee at the counter was folding boxed and several other staff were grabbing pastries from the display cases. The counter employee and several others had walked past me and my friend several times without greeting or acknowledging us. The store was completely empty. After looking around at the pastry cases I asked the employee at the counter how it worked, she explained and I ordered two lattes and two savory croissants. I sat down with my friend and we started to eat, we waited more than 20 mins for the lattes, no other customers were in the store. I went up to the counter again and asked her if she will bring the lattes to the table or call my name when they were done, she look nervous and ran to the back and came back out with our lattes. She explained that they had gotten mixed up with the to go orders, she seemed flustered and unable to manage. After we received our lattes we ordered sweet pastries. When I reached the counter the same employee charged me and totaled out my order, she got nervous and told me she added my order to someone else’s to go order, and she has to charge me again, she rung up my order again and told me she believed that she had now charged me twice, she said “If you see a duplicate charge on your account you can call us” I took my items and receipt and sat down again, I opened my account app and saw the duplicate charge, I went back to the counter and advised her and showed her the charge, she said there is nothing she can do because the manager will not be in today, she told me “a manager will contact you tomorrow.” the manager called Wednesday night and refunded the amount, the manager didn’t apologize or anything, it was a very matter of fact call “you will see the refund today or tomorrow.” Don’t come here for the customer service, it’s non-existent. As for the food, croissants are dry, not flakey, dry. the cinnamon twist donut tasted like grease, the savory ham croissant warmed up did taste good. I won’t be back it was a waste my hard...
Read moreI am updating my previous review for a number of reasons. Recently I left an average 3 star review (in part due to menu items differentiating depending on which employee served you). One of the managers said they would contact me - I didn't think much of it - but of course they didn't. I recently visited this location and I will say it's a little irresponsible of them to take away tongs to grab pastries especially in this health climate. Instead they have wax paper that you're supposed to use. They actually had a hand drawn instruction on how to serve yourself, instead of a formal sign. There were adults instructing their children to grab pastries and of course (kids being kids) touched multiple items with bare hands. I used to frequent this location, but I can't say I can recommend it at this point. The manager definitely needs to step up their game and train their staff when it comes to food safety and standards. California requires you to have a Food Handlers Certificate (minimum) for a reason. (Previous review posted below).
They have a good variety of pastries here, but it is a bit pricey. Sometimes the selection is sparse depending on what time you go. Overall have enjoyed most everything I've purchased although the new iced peppermint mocha basically is chocolate syrup with a splash of milk and coffee. The coffee was supposed to be for my free birthday drink so I guess I can't complain too much, although I was looking forward to it. It could just be a result of one individual employee making it...
