Second time here. The server lady was just not having it this evening, she didn’t care what you wanted or if you needed anything. Very unpleasant attitude, slow service and you could tell she just wanted for people to showing up as it was late in the evening. The wine in a glass was a disaster! Chardonnay at least a week opened i assume. Horrible. A tiny sip was taken, she never asked if there was anything wrong or even how we were doing for us to mention it. The oysters were far from delicious, at $25 per dozen you get what you pay for. The food is mediocre but the place is small and cute. Would be a great stop on a beautiful ride if the food was a bit better and the server would be less upset. When she received a smaller than deserved tip ( she shouldn’t have received a thing, we called her for water, never asked if we needed a single thing or a refill, i had to hunt her down for the check) she then proceeded to stand up Right and look at us though the window while we left in disappointment. Place has fallen off quite a bit, it’s obvious on its last legs unfortunately during the evenings.

What can I say about Little Margie's? 🥰 This small café is so near and dear to my heart. Every time I come to St. Augustine, which is usually once or twice a year, I HAVE to come here. It feels like coming back to a piece of home or just my peaceful comfort place. As I said before, it's small but don't let that deter you. It gives the most amazing beach shack vibe! The owner is Filipina so you might be surprised to find typical Filipino fare on the menu with some old fashioned Southern favorites. My favorite thing to order is the corned beef hash breakfast with a mimosa and my hubby loves their biscuits and gravy. I've been there many times over the years and tried much of their menu and this I can assure you: ALL of it is so good! Go for the food. Go for the incredible vibe and the friendly banter. Just make sure you go! Grab yourself a seat at the bar or an inside table. If the day is warm and the weather fair, pick a table on the sunlit porch. Settle in, soak up the easy, beach atmosphere and let the ocean breeze carry your worries away in this little slice of beachside paradise.

Dinner time on the beach means most of the popular spots will be on a 1-2hr wait. We were able to be seated right away on Little Margie’s small patio space (dog-friendly!). This family-owned, “hole-in-the-wall”, offers friendly & quick service. Prices are somewhat high for the quality of food (for example, $14.29 for 1/2lb of steamed unseasoned shrimp with no sides ) but honestly that should be expected for eating in close proximity to the beach. The food wasn’t anything to rave about but the crab legs were perfectly steamed & tasty ($33 for 1lb). Overall the food was average but the service was good. Sometimes when you’re hungry & on vacation looking for a quick bite, average is good enough!

Disappointed “Huevos Rancheros Plate”

Absolutely disappointed with the Huevos Rancheros Plate, i’ve been here before and I have had a good breakfast, but today was the worst Huevos Rancheros I’ve ever had “IN MY LIFE”... that’s how bad they were.

How can something so simple to prepare (the actual Huevos Rancheros “SALSA”... come out to be horribly wrong?.... what ever condiments you are using to prepare the Salsa... STOP DOING IT!!!

Huevos Rancheros “Salsa” ingredients:

Diced tomatoes, white onion and fresh diced Jalapeño or Serrano peppers. Stirfry the peppers with the onion first, adding just salt and pepper, finally add the tomato’s to the pan, mix a little and cover pan till tomatoes are fully cooked (1-2 minutes) and it’s done.

When serving, instead of cheddar cheese on top ( which by the way in Mexico we NEVER use cheddar cheese on practically any dish), instead you can add queso fresco (Grade-it over the top and/or a slice of queso fresco on the side).

I am deeply sorry for giving you a one star review (it was just for the effort), and just to make it clear this review is only for this plate alone, like I’ve said before i’ve had other great delicious breakfast here.

Please have the chef change the preparation for this authentic Mexican dish. I look forward in coming back and seeing a change in this...

We are locals, but have never been before. Decided to come today. We both got breakfast, because they did not start serving lunch until noon. (That part was fine,we did not mind) Our waiter took our drink order and did not come back until he dropped off the food. Someone else there noticed we had not had our order taken and took our order, and went out of her way to get us a side off the lunch menu. He never came to refill drinks, or ask us how the food was. We finished our meal and sat for some time (as I was holding mu debit card ) waiting for our check to pay. The check was dropped off (after the same young lady said something to him)...and he ran off......while I was holding my card our....READY to pay, so that we could leave. We waited, and waited, and waited. I finally pulled out cash and left it with the check on the table....with the lowest tip I ever have left. If the young lady was around, I would have just give. Her the tip....she was the only one that even stopped to help. The food was very good. We both got omlettes. And a side of plantains. I am sure we will be back because the food was so good....but the service was not...

As a local I really love coming to Margie’s. When family’s in town I take them here. One afternoon I wanted fresh ocean air so I took myself and my 6 month year old son to lunch. Very quiet afternoon, the sun was shining so I didn’t really mind the ten minute wait for someone to notice me outside, there was another couple out there and kept looking at me almost feeling bad for me. But a sleeping baby and sun on my face I was alright. Then finally the server came and greeted me with a “YEAH!!?!” As if I was highly inconveniencing him. Umm okay… can I please have a water and maybe a menu? Comes back maybe another ten minutes later with the drinks, no menu, but that’s okay because I already knew I wanted just an appetizer. Brings appetizer, never comes back. I had to go inside walk behind the bar to grab my own to go box, had I had cash I would have just left it on the table, it’s a shame the food and atmosphere is so so good but this guys a complete douche canoe. I may start calling ahead to avoid his service or lack there of. 5 stars for the food and fresh air, 1 star for mean...
