They don't have 1/2 stars for ratings or I would have given 4 1/2. Went in for lunch...they were busy...but food was coming out of the kitchen rather quickly. Our order: 4 tacos (1 each: chicken, carne asada, carnitas, al pastor), a carnitas burrito, and al pastor nachos. We ordered a side of rice and a side of beans too just to see...and two agua frescas (pineapple) to quench our thirst. Food came out in a reasonable amount of time considering how busy they were. The verdict: The agua frescas were amazing! Extremely delicious! The carnitas was delicious!! The al pastor was good...but not great. Had they crisped it on the flattop prior to serving it, we think it would have been great...but, it was pretty good nonetheless. The chicken and carne asada were average. The meat was of good quality on both...but we felt the seasoning was a little lacking on both. Still good...but just average. The rice was meh...I wouldn't order it as a side again. The beans would have been really tasty...IF they had salted them. There was absolutely no salt in the beans and they were screaming for some salt. Had they salted the beans...they would have been really tasty. Portion sizes were rather large for all items. We tried all of the salsas on the salsa bar. The mild salsa is really, really good. The medium salsa (verde) is only so-so. The hot salsa!!! Oh my goodness!!! The hot salsa was the best thing we had while there!!! It's on the warm side...but not blisteringly hot. Most importantly, it had flavor!!! Tons of flavor in the hot salsa!! If you don't mind a bit of spice, get the hot salsa! Didn't try the quesabirrias...they looked tasty and were quite popular with the rest of the diners there. We'll give those a try on our next visit. Don't bother with the beans or rice. Stick with the carnitas and al pastor...and the hot salsa if you can handle it...and you won't be disappointed. Service was...
Read moreThis isn't the best Mexican food in Southern Utah...but they charge you as if it was the best! Let's go down a chronological experience I had: Gal at the counter was very nice and efficient, and didn't look like a bottom of the barrel hire! That was good. If you check online about this place, you'll see menu prices, but when you come here, they are significantly more, as in 25%+ more! Most items on the menu are they type that if you order 1, you're gonna be left very hungry--you know: the 2-bite street tacos? If you're hungry, you'll need to order 5-6 and that means you'll pay $18+! The birria tacos also, you can't order 1 and be full. You pay for chips/salsa, etc. When I say these chips are BRUTALLY HARD, I mean you could use them as shims for installing doors!! The salsa from the bar is "meh." But after 1 try to eat it, it doesn't matter how good or bad, because you'll draw blood in your mouth with these tortilla chips! Like so many places, when you order, you are suggested to give a tip of 15/20/25% when it's a counter service, which to me is VERY off-putting! The birria tacos were good, not great. The dipping juice was exactly the "hot beef" from the Ramen packets...NOT homemade! I am not going back to this place for the above reasons. PS-the eating area is not the cleanest...it's a "clean your own table" kind of place, so it's exactly how...
Read moreThis place was a pretty big disappointment! We ordered 5 tacos, a quesabirria taco and a side of rice, we asked for water or bottled water and they said they didn’t have any, only had 3 bottled soda flavors, really… no water? So we had to go next door to buy a non-soda drink. The place was not busy there was only one other couple eating when we got there. About 10 minutes after we had ordered they came out to tell us that they were out of chicken which we ordered, so we switched one of the tacos to carne asada. I asked if they had more pico salsa as the container was empty, they said they would make some more. About five minutes later they came back to us and said sorry we don’t have any tomatoes. They finally brought out the food but forgot the carne asada taco they switched for chicken so they had to go make it. The rice was cold and had a rotten flavor, not sure what was wrong with it but it was horrible & we threw it away. The quesabirria taco was flavorless, soggy & greasy, I added verde sauce so it had some flavor. The carnitas and carne asada was ok but nothing special. The best thing they had there was there verde sauce. Needless to say we were excited for them to finally open so we could try them but we...
