WOW! For a quick-serve Mexican restaurant, this place is special. Today’s special was the “Dos Combo” where you get to choose two items off of their combo menu for $10.99 and the drink is included. I ordered the chile relleno and a sweet pork enchilada, and the Mrs. ordered a shredded chicken tostada and a shredded beef enchilada. Both meals came with rice and beans on the side. Everything was very delicious. One of their sauces is a creamy white sauce that is exceptional. Everything from the service to the speed of preparation was excellent. This used to a more formal restaurant with table service, located in the Red Lion Hotel on Bluff Street. They are now located in the outlet mall on Red Cliffs Drive. They were an excellent full-service restaurant and we would go there often, frequently when friends would come into town. They have somehow managed to turn it into a quick-serve restaurant, without impacting the quality of food. One of the servers at the previous restaurant, Slugger, used to be one of our favorite servers. If you want to hear an entertaining story, ask him how he got his name. He also truly cares about the customer, besides being a great guy.

2.5 stars. Decent. Not great. I'm reviewing the new location in the strip mall. Arrived at 1:30 pm.. not busy at all. The menu is a bit of a confusing mess. We ordered Chile verde nachos and a carnitas burrito with queso sauce. Both meats had good flavor, though the Chile verde was dry. Making the nachos very dry. I'm not sure why you aren't given sauce or salsa that could've helped. The burrito was decent.. a bit overwhelmed by the queso poured over it. The queso had good flavor but was way too salty. I could hardly eat it toward the end. The burrito came with rice and beans, though the rice was bland, dry, and crunchy. I had no idea you could get black beans instead of refried.. I would have preferred that but was not given the chance nor the option. Overall, it was not good enough to entertain the idea of going back. Especially with so many other options close by that are better.

To say I was impressed is an understatement! I had the Carne Asada plate with shrimp. Thank you for providing a tasty Carne Asada that is not over cooked, burnt or too chewy. It’s soooo difficult to find a place to do that right. Service was quick and everyone on the staff we encountered was awesome and super helpful! The atmosphere is awesome and there’s plenty of food for the kids and on your plate. You definitely get what you pay for with delicious food and no regret later (how did they master that??) My only- literally only- complaint is that I ordered a Michelada and (while very delicious) it was served in a large Stein only a bit more than half full. Just felt like I was getting a little jipped on that aspect. Should have just taken advantage of the amazing $4 Sunday Cocktail Specials instead!!

We were checking out venues for a weekly social gathering group, and some one had suggested this place might work.

I called ahead to see if they served alcohol, and if they can accommodate agroup, and was brushed off and asked to call back after the lunch rush. So I tried messaging their Facebook page and was told to call. I explained that I'd rather not call, and was ignored for several days. Eventually I did get a message back, and my questions weren't really answered so we decided to just go there.

Went with a small group of five people, our server was exceptionally inattentive... we basically had to yell his name and make him stop if we needed anything. One friend ordered a beer that took 30 minutes to come. Needless to say we didn't have plans to tip him well because the service was nearly nonexistent.

Once we managed to pin our server down long enough to order food, it did come fairly quickly. We all Ordered different meals, and not one of us was impressed with their dish. None of it was terrible, but also not memorable either.

Two of us ordered dessert, and we're sorely disappointed by the boring soggy fried ice cream and the very eggy lumpy flan.

Eventually the manager, we'd hoped to talk to about our social group, came to the table just to pay one of us a compliment on our "look"... and we started to tell him we were the ones asking questions for our social group. He then cut me off mid sentence and left the table saying he'd be right back.... only to never return.

The whole experience, topped off by a forced 18% gratuity added to our checks for our very lackluster service, had some of our group ready to chew someone out. Needless to say, we were not at all impressed, and will not be returning with our group nor any...

The food was great, hot, fresh and tasty! The service however had a lot to be desired. We had a party of 7. We ordered guacamole and chips, but it did not come until the end of the meal after multiple requests. I was never offered a refill for my drink and one of our combination plates came out entirely wrong and had to be sent back to the kitchen, which left one of our starving children waiting to eat. The manager was very kind and helped get our order fixed quickly. He also offered us a $20 gift card for another time as compensation for the mix up. Thoughtful, but we told him we were from out of town and we wouldn't have a chance to use a gift card. He told us he would apply the discount to our current meal instead. When the checks arrived we each had a slightly over a dollar "senior" discount. We spoke to the manager again. The bills arrived for the second time and we had been given $10 off of each of the two checks. We were very grateful! The waiter at this time drops them on the table and doesn't come back. We end up having to take the bills to the front counter to pay and they weren't happy that we didn't wait at the table. There were a few more things that happened, but that is all I have time to write about.

So, great food but lack luster service...

We went in tonight to eat. They sat three parties after us. We had to get the water we ordered from another table of four ( seated after us) that was brought our two glasses of water. Waiter couldn't figure it out. They already had their beverages and chips. Our waiter brought our water after all the other three parties had their beverages. He said our order would be right out. Haha! The second party that was sat got their order. Then the party of four. Then the last party. He at that time said ours would be right out again. My husband went and talked to the manager and the waiter interrupted and said there was no problem. We got our food as the first couple was leaving. It was not hot. The waiter dropped of our food and that was the last we saw of him. We had to ask for containers to go and our ticket. The manager did come out and appologize comped our meal and gave us a gift certificate. Not sure we want to go back as this happened the time before last when we were there. The time in between was flawless and that's why we decided to give them another try. But this is the second time. Use your own judgement. The food was good but not the temperature it should have been for just...
