We were a group of 10 in St John and we showed up at Greengos at 6:30pm on a Sunday and put our name down. We were told it would be a 45 min- 1 hr wait and they would text us when they had a table ready. After waiting for 45 min, I went up to the hostess to let her know that if splitting our group up would be easier for them, then that would be fine. The manager overheard me and walked up and said he couldnt seat a group of 10 AT ALL. I told him that was fine- he could split us up. He flatly and rudely stated that he wouldnt be able to seat us at all that night. I asked him why nobody notified us and that we had been standing outside waiting for 45 min and he had no answer- he just looked at me and said "sorry, we cant seat you" and walked away. It was incredibly rude and unprofessional. To make matters worse, right before I walked up to the hostess the second time, she had taken down the names and numbers of 4 girls who were waiting and told them it would be a 30 min wait. Clearly, the manager and the hostess had zero communication.

So I cannot speak to the food at Greengos but the service and level of professionalism was awful. Also, the bar tender at a nearby bar saw us waiting and asked us if we were actually waiting to eat at a place like Greengos. We said yes and he literally got up, walked to a couple other restaurants to see if he could get us a table because he said Greengos was awful. Due to the size of our party, we couldnt get a table anywhere else though. If you're looking for good food on St John, check out Morgan's Mango. Dont even bother...

GREENGOS BAR AND RESTAURANT!!

Visited: 4/7/21 (Wednesday Night in April 2021) Covid Era: Servers were wearing masks and had hand sanitizer dispensers

Location: Rooftop dining is beautiful and the artwork in the restaurant really makes it unique and stand out. beautiful scenery and the display of the 350 different types of tequila is amazing and you can choose which one you’d like in your choice of drink or by shots for taste

Server: Service was incredible, they’re constantly on the move and very busy, the hostess was not only running management of the tables but was also bringing out drinks and appetizers

Food: The only negative comment on food was the guacamole that wasn’t “house made” it was very much textured like a sauce and not thick and full of ingredients like you’d expect. The Mahi tacos were delicious Cantina bowl is very tasty highly recommended and healthy choice

Drinks: Tequila options vary from 350 different options of your choice Negative was the corona rita was not good, it was a lot of syrup and filler drink than actually quality and if it maybe were in a smaller glass they wouldn’t have substituted space with the syrup and kept it simple and good George Clooney Tequila was delicious...

Terrible hostess. There were 14 of us that came to be seated & have lunch. At first the hostess told us there was a 20 minute wait. She then points at our outfits, looks us up & down, & states that she will not seat us. We were docked and had swimsuit cover ups on. Even if it is the policy to not seat those that do not have day to day clothes on, I understand. It was the extremely rude response and abrupt walking away that took us all very off guard and frankly upset a number of us. I haven’t been looked at or spoken to like this ever. The funny thing was, I came back to the restaurant and the same hostess sat a group that we met earlier in the water. The group had swimsuit coverups on. I told them that the hostess may not seat them. The group asked and the hostess said that their outfits were fine. This review is not necessarily for the establishment but whoever the hostess was on 9/5...

I need to give credit where it is due, the shark-face salsa was quite tasty and had a great kick. The outdoor balcony seating is very nice for couples. I also understand food can be quite subjective, so if you just need something very unique this won't let you down. If you are a tequila enthusiast I highly recommend this as a stop on your journey as their list was extremely extensive. The friendly staff you come to expect and love with the island life, but my oh my is that not mexican food. I'm not really sure what it was, but if you're expecting even tex-mex, you're not going to be very enthused with the product. I highly advise you steer clear of the enchilada sauce as it was far too sweet.

Pros: 1) Awesome flavors on the “Taco of the Day” (contains bacon, shrimp, barbeque sauce, jalapeños, various vegetables and looks like sushi) 2) Mahi Tacos are good 3) The normal red salsa was nicely flavored even though it wasn’t spicy at all Cons: 1) Cantina Bowl was fairly bland - the only flavor was pretty much the lime-ey guacomole 2) The Cilantro Lime Rice was pretty much just plain white rice - no flavor 3) The Pork had no flavor - it was just squishy pulled meat 4) Fairly expensive (yeah I know it’s St Johns, but still something to note)
