This is a must if youāre visiting St John! After trying a different food truck on St Thomas, I have to say I didnāt think I would try another truck while we were visiting USVI. We are very used to eating from food trucks because we visit Hawaii often (husband is local there) where food trucks are all over and we find the food and people are always more authentic then typical tourist places to eat. Due to our previous truck experience on the St Thomas, I was so pleasantly surprised on how well run and managed this truck was and Mr. Hill was not only an amazing chef, but very personable. The prices are extremely reasonable for the quantity and quality. Even my semi-picky 2 year old loved the food and couldnāt get enough of the Johnny Cakes. My family kept comparing them to Malasadas (similar to Portuguese doughnuts) which are popular in Hawaii. The portions were huge and we were so exited to try after having to smell the deliciousness for a few miles while driving down the short distance to the beach at the picnic tables at Trunk Bay. He must have even overheard me mention a minor seafood allergy my sons had to shellfish and cod so he completely separated the salt fish pate in separate wrapping and placed it in itās own bag separated from all the other pate we ordered without even mentioning he overheard this. He makes everything fresh to order as well and the wait time was perfect enough to know they were preparing everything right there, yet long enough to enjoy the beautiful view and take some pics. My husband and I have both been in the restaurant business for 20+ years each so this extraordinary care that goes into his food and business is the kind of things you canāt help but notice upon being there and tasting this amazing local cuisine. We really wish him the best and wouldnāt be surprised to see his business flourish into an even bigger brand or expand to other locations in the future. This was by far the best food we had our entire trip. I hope they start an Instagram soon so everyone can post pics! If you canāt find the location, just ask any local and Iām sure they can point you in the...

Ā Ā Ā Read moreOn our recent trip (Dec., ā23āJan. ā24), we planned a hike to Salomon and Honeymoon Beaches on the Lind Trail. First, we stopped at Roti King to pick up food for a picnic lunch on the beach. Roti King is a stationary red food truck that sits just above North Shore Road in Cruz Bay. If you head from downtown towards Mongoose Junction, you canāt miss it on your right. Just walk up the hill about 25 yards, and youāll be there.
We got chicken roti, salt fish pate, and johnnycakes, two of each item. The entire order came to $50, but hereās the thing: we massively over-ordered! Portions were enormous, and we could have easily fed four people on all that food. What were we thinking? Anyway, they packed our food up for us carefully, and we hiked to Salomon Beach. Thatās when we discovered just how much food weād purchased! But it was absolutely delicious. Iāll confess to stuffing myself a bit, since it was SO good, and I couldnāt imagine throwing it away. The roti was nicely spiced, the pate was crisp and delicious, and the johnnycake was like the best savory doughnut ever.
We will absolutely go back to Roti King on our next trip. And unless we take a group of friends, weāll...
