Let me start by saying how wonderful our hosts (David and Denise) were, any requests we made they did their best to accommodate, offered great suggestions on beaches and activities, and overall just a warm and sweet couple. You can tell they take great pride in their establishment and strive for stellar customer service.
Now on to the hotel, we booked one of the penthouse apartments which includes a living quarters with sofa-bed, full kitchen, 1 bath and 1 bedroom. We are a family of four and beds provided were sufficient, Denise provided an extra supportive pillow for me due to metallic implant in neck so extra points for that. When I say full kitchen I mean FULL kitchen, there's a large fridge/freezer, stove/oven, microwave, toaster oven, blender, plates, cups, silverware, cookware, spice rack, etc, everything you would need to make meals is there, which we took full advantage of to prepare to-go lunches for the kids to help save money on eating out. Extra points for this. Also was used to prepare kid's morning eggs and cereal which i bought from local market. Hotel does offer continental breakfast, but is very simple which includes variety of fruits (apples, tangerines, bananas, etc), prepackaged pastries, yogurt cups, oatmeal packets, hot water/milk/juice/coffee jugs, and tea packets. Hotel is in great proximity to major port, eateries, and shops all walking distance.
There were some issues wanted to mention, one is no fault to the hotel but during my stay it was during Carnival which runs a little over a week , hotel is right in the center hub of the festivities, so literally every night there was loud booming music playing till 6am, kept kids up most of the nights so just a warning to any family traveling with kids during this time. Also wanted to note the hotel does not have 24/7 staff, so if discovered need any new bedding or toiletries late afternoon it will have to wait until following morning when housekeeping returns if. But as mentioned hosts were very accommodating with any additonal sheets or toiletries needed. The area was always a buzz with tourists waking about so felt fairly safe the entire time, the hotel has a gated cipher lock on front entrance which is shared with guests, need to remember this as mentioned hotel is not 24/7 staffed but one could probably phone host if forgot code.
My family and I definitely enjoyed our stay, its next to world renowned beaches (loved Hawksnest, Cinnamon and Trunk bay beaches), cruise excursions, and a great little colorful town. Will plan for a...
Read moreWhere do I even begin. When we got to St John we originally were staying at a different place that was just bad and we knew we had to find another place to stay to save our trip from being terrible and stressful. We spent half a day on our phones just looking places up and calling and things were looking pretty bleak as it was St Patrick's day weekend and the island was extraordinarily busy.
We started to walk around town and fortunately for us we found the most charming and quaint boutique hotels "Cruz Bay Boutique Hotel". We were happily greeted by Denise who saved the day and turned our trip completely around.
She had availability and was soooooo incredibly accommodating to us.
The front desk area is beautifully decorated and so very inviting with the pretty artwork, cute seating area and tropical plants. The rooms are tastefully decorated and probably the cleanest rooms we have ever stayed in anywhere and we get around.
The beds are comfortable, the rooms are quiet and each room does have their own AC and ceiling fans so the temperature was perfect.
The second floor has a very pretty, relaxing seating area surrounded with tropical plants and a beautiful view of the mountain.
Another huge plus is the hotels location as it is in the very heart of Cruz Bay and you have everything at your finger tips. From restaurants and bars, shops, taxis etc...
I would also like to point out that they have truly thought of everything you need. In the lobby they have a continental breakfast every morning. They have a spring water dispenser for your water bottles, a large freezer with bags of ice, cooler bags, sunscreen, beach chairs, beach towels, water noodles for the beach and super easy to read maps of the island in which they will go over with you according to your needs.
If we could give 10 stars we would as Denise, Victoria and Karen are exceptional at making you feel right at home.
This is our new St John go-to hotel as we won't stay anywhere else because it...
Read moreCruz Bay Boutique Hotel is an absolute gem and is just a few blocks from the ferry! My husband and I stayed in December of 2022 and were completely blown away by the courteous and accommodating owners and staff. We fell in love with the property, including the beautiful beachy lobby and the gorgeous balcony flowing with tropical plants and flowers (my favorite place to eat breakfast!). The rooms are pristine and immaculately cleaned (I have very high standards with cleanliness)! We enjoyed our stay so much, we came back in December of 2023!
David and Denise went above and beyond to make sure we had everything that we needed during our stay. Apart from regular hotel items (daily housekeeping, fridge/freezer in the room, shampoo/soap/hand soap), beach towels, beach chairs, coolers, pool noodles, sunscreen and bug spray were also available if needed.
The staff provided excellent recommendations for hiking, snorkeling, transportation (especially when we encountered an issue with the taxi drivers refusing to take us to Annaberg), restaurants and more! In 2022, Megan provided excellent suggestions! She was always so courteous and patiently answered all of our questions. We missed seeing her in 2023! Karen and Victoria assisted us in 2023 and were so kind and always eager to assist us with our needs.
The hotel serves a simple continental breakfast. We enjoyed the coffee and orange juice the most!
Car Rental Tips: The Hotel doesn’t have parking but several rental places allow for you to rent and park at their place for free. We rented a car from Piper (a few blocks away). We parked at Piper’s and walked down the hill to the Hotel each day.
We have travel plans in 2024 for another adventure but we plan to be...
