Unfortunately I have to leave the following honest review of Gallows Point. We booked Gallows point resort for 5 Days in August. We were excited to stay here after reading a lot of the other reviews. Upon checking in at 3 pm (check in time) we were told that our room was not ready yet due to som issues with the bathroom. We waited for an hour in the lobby in the sweltering heat until we were moved to a different room because the issue was still going on.
Upon checking into the new room (4B) the smell of chemicals and cleaner was so strong we had to open all windows and leave the room for 3 hours while it aired out. The smell made both my wife and I ill. We waited by the pool for 2 hours, then went back to the room to try to get ready for our 630 dinner reservation at 1864 (which was absolutely amazing!) When we arrived back to the room it still smelled so we had to then shower and get ready in a room where the temperature was now over 90 degrees due to us having to have the windows open to air it out.
The rooms are ok, the furniture def needs an upgrade in the living room but that wasn’t an issue, we could live with that. I will say the ONE positive thing was that when we got back from dinner and were able to shut the windows and turn on the AC, the AC was the best AC we experienced on our 14 day trip.
Here’s where the nightmare really begins. We arrive home from dinner and rinse off and get ready to go to bed. Upon laying down on the mattress, we both knew were were in for a long night. The mattress was the worst mattress I’ve ever slept on and has to be at least 20 years old. It was awful. There was also an extremely bright light outside (resort light) that we had no way to block out or turn off. (Imagine trying to sleep in a tanning bed with the lights on and on your Grandmothers mattress). So my wife tossed and turned for a couple hours. You would think it couldn’t get any worse right? WRONG! Around 2am a loud beeping noise starts outside of our room and continues until 7am where we found out that this was due to something wrong with the sewer. This was the absolute worst night of sleep I have ever attempted, worse then sleeping on the floor of an airport overnight, worse then camping in sub zero weather, pure torture.
At 7am we exit our room to see the workers. They apologized for the intrusion and began working on the sewer equipment to clear some sort of clog that the alarm was notifying them off. I carried all our our luggage to the front desk, explained that we would be checking out and moving to a new hotel due to the torturous night we experienced here. The lady at the front desk was very apologetic and nice and we were on our way.
One week later I checked the hotel bill and noticed we did not receive any type of refund for the remaining nights that we did not stay there. I contacted the front office thinking this must be some kind of oversight. I figured it would be worked out easily and we could move on. WRONG. Apparently it states “ No refunds for early departures will be issued.” listed in the cancelation policy. So I’m being charged $2000,00 because I refused to endure 4 more continued nights of torture at their resort. This place is an absolute scam, DO NOT STAY here.
In the end, even if they would have told me upon checking out that I wasn’t going to get my money back, I still would have left and made the same decision I did because no one should have to endure the type of torture you will endure if you choose to try to get some rest at this resort. I’ll be contacting my credit card company and reporting this scam. What a wonderful way to spend our anniversary.
Do check out the wharfside village. It’s a...
Read moreHad our honey moon there after getting married in Megan's Bay on st. Thomas. Decided to get a jeep and just go with it but ended up calling gallows point resort in Cruz Bay.. mistake made at that point.. after the owner who is actually the reservation number you call, complained that we didn't call the reservation number we talked to him on, again , thinking it was only a reservation number for booking, we called the front desk about our water being off.. my bride was still in her wedding dress and needed to change asap as a specific time had began for the month.. again.. wedding dress on.. was needing to take it off and take a shower.. they said 5 minutes tops and it's on.. after 2.5 hours we call 3 times to the front, as anyone would do , not the "reservation " Number to ask and complain. By the time she was able to change, the dress was ruined.. the front desk appologize as we walked by the front desk entrance and we left to cinnamon Bay. The following morning we came back and crawled in bed there waiting to speak to the management and he said he was 45 minutes out so we left our jeep ensuring we weren't leaving without paying or resolving expecting a-simple apology of a reputable place to do so. We go get a rum filled coconut and walk back to the gallows suites in cruise Bay and while going down to the swim area waiting before we went back to the front, this was at noon, we are approached by a grumpy sour older man and 3 workers asking us where our room was. We told them 8C, expecting nothing. Then the owner, the older gentleman from booking but owns it verbally began while on our honeymoon verbally assaulting in front of my wife stating that the water line break took 5 minutes per his workers words, which they lied to cover their ass, but we told him we had the stained dress and the front desk to confirm it was almost 3 hours that she didn't know. He insisted the he had saw "scum" like me before, I have tattoos.., but own a international construction company , and help with customs, which he didn't know.. worst experience in any hotel we have ever had... u would not suggest anyone even stopping here as its a money trap by true Caribbean Pirates opperated.. beyond rude.. ruined the entire vibe.. and all over just wanting to speak to the owners about the situation and being on site until he showed up. Beautiful facility horribly operated and no care for people's honeymoon memories by any means... Firmly believe all of their awards are self given throughout the other sites such as hotels com etc.. but true experience. A motel 6 would have better customer service I would assume. Best regards and be forewarned not to take a risk here. Too many other options on such a beautiful island.. Mr. And Mrs. Avery Booked...
Read moreWe arrived at Gallows Point two days before we were set to get married, and the suite was gorgeous inside and out.||Initially, we encountered issues with the advertised amenities, including satellite TV, WiFi, and telephone services. There were troubleshooting sheets to get the TV and Wi-Fi to work, and we went through the process multiple times without success. On the day after our wedding, we asked the front desk (we couldn't call them, because our phone was dead), and they said they would send someone over.||The maintenance crew arrived approximately 24 hours later. They informed us that both the telephone and satellite TV in our suite were not working due to an issue that had occurred during the renovations. ||They managed to run a hard-wired device through one of our windows and onto the bar in the kitchen, which enabled us to have WiFi on day 5 of our stay, finally. It would have been nice to know these things weren't working when we checked in.||We also had in-suite massages on the day after our wedding. Friends who gifted the massages also purchased a basket with a bottle of Prosecco, crackers, and cheese through the concierge, which was to be delivered after the massage (approximately 5:30 on the Saturday of our stay). ||After waiting for a while to avoid missing the delivery, we went to the front desk. We were instructed to visit the Gallows Point Gift & Gourmet to inquire about it, and the employee working there went to the back room to assemble a basket for us to take back, without explaining why it had not been delivered. ||Throughout our stay, the maintenance and cleaning staff were absolutely fantastic, but the individuals working the front desk seemed annoyed whenever we asked a question.||Additionally, we stayed in Suite 01D, which proved to be located near the Gallows Point transit van, which began operating early in the morning. Each time they returned, there was the loud beeping as they backed into their parking spot. In the future, I would stay on the other side of the resort, so I could sleep in, as this woke me early every day. ||The grounds and suite were great, but the lack of communication about non-working amenities and terse employees at the front desk marred the...
