5 stars – Luxury dining with flawless service, bold flavors, and thoughtful touches that made this one of the best restaurant experiences I’ve had in the Twin Cities.
Overall Impression: I’ve had my eye on Boketto Steakhouse ever since I saw it on TikTok, and Restaurant Week gave me the perfect excuse to finally try it. From start to finish, the experience was everything I hoped for — elegant, warm, flavorful, and deeply thoughtful. It truly felt like a high-end escape, right in the heart of St. Louis Park. I genuinely forgot I was in Minnesota!
Service: Hospitality here is top-tier. The moment we arrived, the host pulled out our chairs — a small gesture that makes a big impact when it comes to luxury dining. Our server, Katie, was amazing. She welcomed us with warm lemongrass-scented hand towels, which instantly set the tone for the evening. What stood out most was how accommodating she and the chef were — I’m allergic to shellfish, and my friend is vegetarian, so we asked if we could swap the preset appetizers from the Restaurant Week menu. They kindly substituted them with Japanese milk bread and bruschetta with zero hesitation. That level of care goes a long way.
Food: We did the Restaurant Week $45 prix fixe, which included three courses: • Appetizers: The Japanese milk bread was heavenly — soft like angel cake but with the flavor of a light baguette. Paired with the whipped butter and bruschetta? Chef’s kiss. • Entrée: I ordered the Steak Frites (medium well), and it was perfectly cooked — juicy, well-seasoned, and crisped on the outside just enough. The fries were equally good, crispy and flavorful. • Dessert: The carrot cake was rich and moist with an amazing cream cheese layer. The only part I didn’t enjoy was the grapefruit(?) sauce on top — I’m not a fan of sour additions, but I just ate around it. The cake itself was so good.
Portions were generous and felt worth the price. I left feeling satisfied but not heavy, which I loved.
Ambience: The space is sleek and upscale, with a Mediterranean-meets-Asian fusion vibe that comes through in both the design and the menu. Dress code is business casual (yes, it’s listed on OpenTable and yes, it makes sense once you arrive). I saw lots of couples, dates, and small groups — it felt like the perfect setting for a special night out. You’re not just eating here, you’re experiencing it.
Extras & Details: • Parking: We got dropped off, but there are nearby free parking garages if you’re driving. • Cleanliness: Every detail was considered — from clean utensils to spotless bathrooms. The bathroom even had eco-friendly hand towels instead of paper towels, which I personally appreciated. • Pricing: Outside of Restaurant Week, expect to spend $50–$75+ per person for a full meal. But...
Read moreDined twice so I can provide a fair review. The atmosphere is nice there are different areas for different occasions. You can have a birthday dinner, date, or business meal here.
The menu is ok they have some good options but I’m always Leary of places who want to offer more than one speciality. I.e a steakhouse but also serves sushi.
Starters: the sticky ribs are the start of the show. Truly the best thing on the menu. Full of flavor, meaty, and hot.
The Sushi was mediocre. The rice wasn’t sushi rice at all. It taste like grocery store sushi. Wouldn’t recommend.
Entrees: My wife had the lamb chops that are good. Both times we dined the lamb chops came out luke warm and then this time they put pomegranate seeds all over it? Have no idea why.
I tried the steak. I had a basic NY strip medium temp. You really can’t mess it up it’s a basic cut. And to my confirmation it was bad. It was cooked correctly but had 0 flavor. Truthfully I’ve had a better strip at Texas Roadhouse. For $60+ you would think it would be better. I would never pay for their waygu.
Sides: Lobster mac and cheese is tasty! Comes out hot and has great flavor. The Brussels are great different layers of flavors. The mashed potatoes are basic. Taste like they came from a box.
The drinks: any table side drink isn’t worth it. $30 for a bartender to make your drink is pointless, and the drink wasn’t that good.
Service: this is where Boketto falls apart. Both experienced the service was poor. It’s almost like they have brand new people with no service experience at all fine dining restaurant. At this price point you expect to have amazing service. Our server although friendly wasn’t attentive, didn’t offer and recommendations are ask any open ended questions. There was about 6 tables and she had 3 and every time we had a request it would take our server 10 minutes to come back to the table. Our server forgot our drink orders, forgot to bring drinks, I didn’t get a single water refill our entire stay. Didn’t mention anything on then menu or any seasonal specials. Didn’t highlight the main attractions here like the waygu. Then as if Jan 1 they’ve instituted an automatic 18% added gratuity to each check? The only thing they had an opinion on was the dessert which they let us order a few rather than letting us know they’re shareable sizes.
The verdict: I wouldn’t come back for a full dining experience or a drink. The service needs to improve or the reviews will continue to drop. Paying nearly $400 for dinner with poor service is inexcusable and I strongly urge the management group to invest in their service workers to improve the...
Read moreService started great, the waiter was attentive then as dinner went on, the waiter was nowhere to be found. They had 8 of us sit in a booth but a party of 7 that came after us were seated at a comfortable long table (I made reservations a week prior). They also told me that all the tables were taken so that's why we were at a booth but as the night went on, it was clear that the long tables were still available.
Food was delicious. When I received my steak, I was still taking pictures of my plate when the waiter asked me to cut my steak in front of him. He explained that he wanted to make sure it was done to my liking (medium rare ribeye) but he didn't ask others in my party to do the same. This was also when half of my party was in the bathroom so I thought it was a good time to take pics of my food while I waited for them to come back. It took over 30 minutes for the waiter to come back to our table to ask us if we wanted dessert (our table was already cleared). After our dessert was over, it took another 30 or so minutes for our waiter to come back with a tab. Originally, he told us he would like us to place our food order a certain way to keep up with who ordered what but when he gave us the tab, the orders were all mixed. When we asked him to split the bill according to who ordered what, he made a fuss about how it wasn't fair to split the appetizers amongst 8 of us. Not sure why he assumed we would split the appetizers that way when some didn't order any and some ordered 2-4 appetizers. He insisted that all appetizers must only be on 1 person's bill. After going back and forth with him on the appetizers, my friend said to put all the appetizers on her bill and we could figure it out later since he was making a fuss and she wanted to leave since we had been at the restaurant for 3.5 hours at this point.
The atmosphere was beautiful.
I wouldn't recommend this place and will not return based on my experience.
If you decide to go in a group, it's best that the group size is 6 or less. On the phone, they also told me that they cannot accommodate a...
