I stayed here as part on a small convention. The location is fantastic, within easy walking distance of diverse restaurants as well as a Cub (grocery store), Costco, and movie theater. The parking lot is big. There was construction at the front of the building, however, which frustratingly blocked direct access to the convention area from the outside. It also meant no cars could drive up to the main entrance, which wasn’t ideal considering the amount of rain over that weekend. Check-in was fast and included the famous chocolate chip cookie. My room was on the 10th floor. There were four elevators and all were in working order. I rarely had a wait. I usually could make it from the 2nd floor, where the convention occurred, to my room in a minute or two. My room had a single comfortable bed. A mini fridge was hidden in the cabinet under the TV, and the door latched so securely that I just left it ajar so I didn’t have to fight it. There was a lot of space in the bedroom and the bathroom, but there is very little bathroom counter space. The tub/shower is a bit weird but not hard to figure out. There are large pumps on the wall for shampoo, conditioner, and body wash, which are so much better than the tiny bottles! That said, the shampoo bottle was either almost out or clogged, as I had to fight to get anything out of it for my two showers. The ceiling in the bathroom had significant bubbling indicative of a water leak or overflow from above at some point. My room was very quiet at night. I didn’t even need ear plugs. The street noise didn’t even stand out during the day because of how the building is set back from the main thoroughfare. The convention spaces seemed perfectly serviceable, too, and were kept clean. I’m left with an okay impression of the hotel. I’d be fine staying here again for this convention, but the building is showing some considerable wear.

One thing a lot of people don’t know about Hilton’s fastest growing brand known as double tree is that most DoubleTrees are other hotels that switch to the doubletree brand. Because of this mileage may vary as there is considerable variation in the experience between one double tree and another. That being said, this hotel seems to be of a similar build to other doubletrees in the upper Midwest, with the tiny windows and chiller fed air conditioning. Because the air conditioner is basically a heater being fed with chilled water, it doesn’t cool the room very well and can’t remove humidity like a standard air conditioner. This made the room very hot. Fortunately each room has a small box fan in the closet which made the room very comfortable when placed in front of the air chiller to move the chilled air around. Ideally however, one would prefer a PTAC style unit found in more modern hotels for year round comfort. I’m sure the system works much better in the winter, as it is primarily a heater that pumps chilled water instead of hot water during the warm months. The other thing I didn’t like about this hotel was that the door was not soundproofed very well as it had a large gap underneath where sound would come through. And despite a recent renovation, I still felt parts of the room were somewhat dated and tired. What I did like about the hotel is the atrium. The atrium is incredible! I loved the feeling of strolling through the atrium in the morning, it was spotless and very serene. Would love to stay here again just to experience the atrium, a testament to modernist architecture and design.

Awful. One of the noisiest hotels I’ve ever stayed in. The walls are paper thin. As I type this, I’m listening to the woman next door having a phone conversation—her third of the evening. We can hear every and any noise in the hallways through the door, which is thin and has a very large gap at the bottom. Not to mention the noise from outside (cars in the parking lot, Highway, etc) and loud double “bing” each time the elevator opens on the floor. We have a double room with two beds. The beds are very small. Two adults in a bed is quite uncomfortable. The room temperature is not well regulated and there is no way to have a constant fan on. Housekeeping is ok at best. When we checked in (and still three days later) a small end table and wall behind it are covered in splatters of something red and sticky. The in-room coffee maker was missing most items (only decaf coffee, only one lid for two cups, no sweetener). The bathroom is a fair size, but the toilet has a cheap plastic seat that is smaller than the bowl. The shower runs lukewarm when turned as hot as it goes, then suddenly switches to scalding after 5-8 minutes. Also, we’re Hilton Honors members with a higher level status and weren’t given any perks (usually choice of room, bottled water, etc) that normally given. Oh, and the cookies... one cookie for a family of four with two kids. #seriously I always thought DoubleTree were one of the nicer Hilton brand hotels, but this stay has been a big disappointment.

The positives: the location is convenient lots to walk too in terms of shopping and restaurants. The gentleman who checked me is was super friendly and kind I wish I got his name or could have dealt with him primarily.

Negative: One of the girls who worked at the front desk who I dealt with most of the time was so unpleasant it was borderline painful. I literally have a laundry list of interactions the make it seem as a guest of a hotel I was problematic to her. the vibe was so uncomfortable and weird I would literally not stay at the hotel again. I work in hospitality as well full time and to disappoint me is difficult because I’m able to distinguish inconveniences from problems. So to start off with I had to come back because my keys didn’t work right after I was issued them and she made it seem like it was neglect on my behalf. Literally didn’t smile not once. The drain in my shower wasn’t working so I called the front desk and again had an incredibly un memorable conversation with her about it. The maintenance guy was kind and able to resolve the situation in 10 minutes. I ordered room service and there was a really sweet lady who was delivering the food but unfortunately it was just her alone so it took over an hour. I called back to the room service line and nobody answered so I called the front desk and again nobody answered ( I was only calling to check the status) When she dropped off the food she apologized for the delay and I told her I was just checking in on the order was all and no worries I understand she was very sweet and still ensured I got a warm meal even though she had to deliver after they were closed. She said the girl at the front desk saw me calling but because she dropping off deliveries she couldn’t get to the line. Why the lady at the front desk couldn’t answer and explain that to me was negligent. I ran out of water so I went down to the lobby to ask if I could have a bottle from the front desk since I didn’t see any vending machines on my floor. She literally had cases of regular pure life water behind her and she said no. I explained they gave me 2 at check in so why no lol and she said that the guy who checked me in didn’t even have to do that and I’m not entitled to water, okay cool so like I put a 150$ deposit down on the room and I have another guest checking in can I get their water? She asked me my room number and then said no. I literally would have paid $50 for a bottle of water I just wanted to drink water bro after beefing with me for 5 minutes about it she said but you can buy water from the hotel shop…. Omg why wouldn’t you explain that to me okay cool I said so I guess I’ll go get my wallet (literally didn’t even offer to let me charge it to the room) I get my card get 5 bottles and a coffee and then there she is now ringing me up like I literally cannot avoid her to save my life. No conversation no nothing I’m like this sorry person the energy is awful she doesn’t offer me a bag and I don’t ask because anytime I have to deal with her I’m upset for real genuinely upset. I was a wedding planner for an event and I had people book this hotel which was embarrassing. The whole bridal party had rooms and family and I get it’s a cost effective place to stay but it costs nothing to be kind and hospitable when it’s also literally your job and you’re paid for it. Side note the wedding party had issues with this individual as well and I felt responsible and apologized to them like I’m a representative of Hilton

Moral of the story I cannot recommend this hotel and I would honestly look around at other options. I would downgrade quality just to be treated in a...

Stayed at this hotel overnight while moving our daughter into college. Arrived in the afternoon and check-in process was smooth. Dropped off overnight backpack/pillow and 2 items in frig after check-in and left the hotel. Returned around 8:45pm after being completely exhausted from our 6 hour drive, the heat and college move-in. Turned on bathroom sink to find spouting/running brown water, and shower faucet spouted black/purple'ish colored water. The water in both eventually ran clear. Looked on bed and observed on unknown bug near the corner of one of the pillows, on the sheet/duvet corner. Immediately, removed items from frig, gathered our backpack, and went to front desk where we spoke with Quentin Cooperwood and another male (unk. name). Explained the situation, showed them the photos I took, and told them I am not comfortable staying in a room with possible bed bugs. Both were apologetic, moved us to another room, and said they would need to contact "engineering" to determine if the room had bed bugs and they would contact me later in the evening to let me know their findings. Rec'vd a phone call about 15m later, and was told they do not know if it was bed bugs or not - they would be contacting someone the next day to determine. I was then told I would be contacted by phone and/or email the next day to let me know their outcome. Two days later - I have yet to receive a phone call or email from anyone. ||||Although we were moved to another room, we discovered the beds were horrible - very lumpy and uncomfortable, one of the beds was slanted downwards, and the room had a dusty odor. Immediately checked out the following morning as soon as we could. Had we have not had plans the next day to tour other colleges in the area for our son, we would have just made the 6 hour drive home that night rather than staying at this hotel. ||||I returned home and wrote an email to the "manager" Quentin Cooperwood, and cc'd HiltonHonors@hilton.com - and have yet to receive any response or acknowledgement of my email to them. ||||Whether it was bed bugs or not in the room - we arrived home and immediately did all laundry. ||||For the price of $160.00, this hotel was disgusting and I would not recommend...

Staff was very nice. Restaurant is over priced. I've stayed here a couple times in the summer during years passed. Apparently in the winter they shut off all the AC units. Not a problem, except for the rooms are like 80°. There is a sign next to the thermostat that says if you're too warm, shut off the heater and open the window. We did that. Problem though, the windows only open about 3", and the pressure inside the building is great enough all opening the window does is allow the even warmer hallway air to rush under the door and out the window. The air pressure was strong enough the door to the room wouldn't close without pulling on it. You could hear whistling sounds and feel the air rushing under the door only when the window was open. Each room has a box fan in the closet. So we opened the window, put the fan on the window ledge to try and pull air into the room. Stuffed a towel under the door to stop the warm hallway air coming in, and turned on the bathroom fan. All that, plus being a legit snow storm outside, and the room was only cooled down enough to be barely comfortable.

With that the first night, and the bathroom sink drain leaking onto the floor, they did move us to enough room a floor above ours. It really did not help with the heat, but the sink at least worked properly.

Staff was super nice about it and made everything painless, but still, the building has fundamental issues with heating and cooling that made for an almost impossible night of sleep, and they seem to know it with the signage and fans in each room. But without that being addressed, I'd avoid it during the winter months.

UPDATE: Hilton responded and asked I fill out their form so they can investigate and make things right. If you've read this far, you can see I'm detailed. They had a delayed response and basically all they said was "Unfortunately, due to insufficient information, we were unable to determine from your message how we may be of assistance. I request you to elaborate your concern so that we can assist you with best possible resolution." I'm sorry, if you're a Customer Care Specialist and can't come up with any ideas how to assist after such a detailed message, that's...
