Raku Sushi & Lounge — Restaurant in Saint Louis Park

I have come here many times with family and friends, and the food has always been fantastic. It’s been a place of comfort for me. The servers are also wonderful and welcoming. I would normally rate such a place as 5 stars easily.

However, this review is one star because of our experience tonight. A woman (not a server but one who seemed affiliated with the restaurant because she walked behind the bar in employee areas) approached us and snidely said, “it’s so rude to sit in a restaurant after closing.” This baffled myself and my friends because it was about 10:40 PM, and the restaurant’s hours were until 11 PM according to the sign on the door of the place, and it even said they were open until midnight on the website. Additionally, nobody told us that the restaurant was apparently closed, contrary to the information available to us.

As I said, we were very confused but promptly left with a sour taste in our mouths. As we were walking out of the restaurant, this woman, now sitting at the bar and presumably intoxicated, starts loudly CLAPPING and ridiculing us. This was a profoundly immature and ridiculous display, and we will have to think twice about coming back if that’s how people...

Wow! Speechless. This place is hands down the best Japanese place I have been to. I’ve been to a lot of places but here, you get that feeling when you walk in of calm mood and relaxation. The seating is comfortable like you you’re at home. Well, actually this is more comfortable than home. Dim lights, candles, sweet calm music, authentic art, tasty food, properly prepared sushi dishes and drinks. Wow! I can’t say enough. I have many friends that told me to try this place but I kept brushing it off until now and I regret not racing here before. This place makes a great dinner and drinks, family quick bite or even that late night dinner with your significant other. I am surprised at the rating as it’s worth 6 stars in my opinion but again it’s just my opinion based off my experience here. I am usually skeptical about eating sushi but Raku made it possible for me to enjoy sushi in many different flavors with ease. I give it a two thumbs up and hands down the best Japanese eatery. Worst service ever. I had called ahead of time to make reservations for Valentines Day. I spoke to someone and mentioned I had a Groupon which did not say we could not use for Vday, only not valid on Federal Holidays. When we went in, it took 13 mins for our server to ask us for a drink order, but she noticed we had our groupon. Instead of just getting our drinks, she proceeded to storm off and get the manager. He was even worse! He looked at us with this dumb founded look and said...UGH..we just don't take them today, so you can leave if you want! Really?!!! Had they not argued and been so rude, we would have stayed, seriously, the groupon was only worth $15. But now, they not only lost our service that night, but forever, and I WILL make sure ALL my friends and family NEVER go there! I was appalled.

After 2 months of posting this review, this is the email I received from one of their employees. "Go ahead and tell your friends, I am sure they would care less if you come back. Servers loath people like you"
