In terms of food itself, I would rate this establishment a 3 rather than a 4, but there were several other factors that resulted in me giving a 4 instead, including their theme and the whole "believe in breakfast" slogan, the service my friend and I have received which was very hospitable, their various kinds of coffee which tasted very good, and their ability to keep with with so many customers with such a large menu and the variety they have with their food. Now I will proceed to talk about the food.
The best item I have had was the fried chicken and waffles, with a good amount of chicken that complemented the waffles very well. The gravy was also very well-made. The deviled egg sandwich had a lot of pickles which in some ways overpowered the deviled eggs' flavor, on top of the fact that the deviled eggs themselves were already underseasoned, so really it ended up feeling like a pickled vegetables sandwich with mashed eggs as the sauce. Some paprika in the deviled eggs may help. The pillow pancakes were large and thick with not enough cream cheese syrup, which tasted pretty interesting because I could taste the jalapeño in there. I think maybe having a small cup of additional syrup on the side would help because there were a lot of pancakes. Then the jalapeño and veg sandwich had a good amount of stuff to the point that one has to eat two pieces of bagel with a bunch of stuff on there. It tasted pretty good to me with a mixture of flavors that worked together. My friend liked it as well, but said that she was not greatly impressed, meaning it was good but not exceptional. Finally, the breakfast sandwich was mediocre, with the bagel as the best ingredient, unfortunately. The bacon tasted like it wasn't soft enough or hard enough, kind of like in between, and I would have preferred one or the other. The fried egg was very overcooked which resulted in the egg yolk mixing with the egg white so much that it was only a few steps away from becoming scrambled eggs.
As a result I want to stress that in my opinion, what makes Hope Breakfast Bar a worthy spot to visit is not the food itself, but a combination of various factors that result in its popularity. Like I mentioned in the first paragraph, the "believe in breakfast" slogan is really cute; they have a large menu with a good amount of varieties and good coffee; they create a good atmosphere for people to visit, have conversations, and in general have...
Read moreWhile the food was good the service failed to meet expectations of hospitality. Upon being seated, our server did not introduce herself and just seem like she was over the day. After we placed our orders, my friend requested a hot chocolate with his meal. Another server delivered my drink, and when our original server noticed that my friend had not received his hot chocolate, she assured him it would be ready shortly.
As our meals arrived, water was accidentally spilled on our table. Another server attended to the spill, stating, “This will do for now until I retrieve the mop,” but she never returned to complete the task, leaving the table still wet. Consequently, my friend's napkin, which accompanied his utensils, became soaked from the spill. When our original server returned, we explained the situation and requested a new napkin, yet that request went unaddressed and I had to give him my napkin.
As we approached the end of our meal, we endeavored to catch our server's attention, which proved challenging as she was engaged in conversation and laughter with another staff member. After several minutes, we finally garnered her attention, at which point my friend informed her that he wished to cancel the hot chocolate that he had never received. Her response was, “I didn’t realize you hadn’t received it.” Although she offered to bring him the hot chocolate, we had already finished our meal and no longer desired it.
We requested the check, and when it was time to pay, she practically shoved the credit card reader in my face. At that moment, I felt she didn't even deserve the tip I gave her, as she hardly attended to us and made no effort to rectify the situation. She observed that I left a tip below the suggested amount and subsequently cast me a disapproving glance. I regret not taking note of her name or paying closer attention to her name tag. Regardless, my friends and I have collectively decided against returning to this establishment, as quality service...
Read moreSad really! I showed up early for my brunch on a Tuesday. Excited to try this place. I had some work to finish before my brunch meeting. I informed the host I was early (9:10) and didn’t have reservations and my guests is coming at 10. she said that was fine. The place was over half empty. (See photos).
I was seated, ordered coffee and side of bacon, informed my waitress it was just me for now and my guest was arriving at 10. She said no problem.
No sooner did I finish my bacon, the waitress stopped back and informed me that they have a time limit on table occupancy and asked if I would like my check?! I reminded her that my guest was arriving any minute and we would be ordering could she please stop back. She politely informed me again that they have an occupancy time limit on tables. Not rude but definitely made me feel like we should go some place else. My guest arrived before we finished the conversation.
We ordered the Farm graze. Def 2 out of 5. Too greasy, the eggs were over fried, and the kale was charred. Not more than half way thru our meal the Gen manager stopped to see how things were and reminded us that there was an occupancy limit on the tables. I informed him, the waitress had already made that clear however we were not finished eating. I noted that I did tell the hostess I was an hour early, when I checked in. Really insulting when a place makes you feel unwelcome and most definitely like you are overstaying that same unwelcome!
What happened to customer care and putting your customers first, or even 3rd.
Pretty sad experience!! Especially when half the restaurant is empty….
Perhaps they should think about kindly enforcing the occupancy when they get full! Or become a take out place instead!
Tho the food looked creative, I didn’t see too many people finishing their plates which leads me to believe theirs wasn’t any better than mine!
There are four tables outside …empty as well.
So so...
