SO very disappointed with our 1st visit to The Loop West End.
Decided to start visiting restaurants near us that we hadn’t been to. Live a quarter mile from the West End and The Loop was first on our list.
Ordered a Vodka Diet and a Moscow Mule. Vodka Diet shows up absolutely full with ice and watered down (?), and the Moscow shows up in a glass, not a copper cup. Regardless, it tasted terrible. Extremely sour, no ginger flavor at all. Have ordered Moscow’s for years. This was by far the worse. Returned for bottled beer.
We order chicken Caesar salad the grilled cheese with tomato soup.
Caesar salad is flavorless. Not sure how you have chicken that looks so good and seasoned, but can be so dry and tasteless.
Grilled cheese was tiny. So little cheese. Slices of toast were thick, so it was basically toast with very little flavor. Then there’s the tomato soup. This is absolutely vodka marinara sauce. Not tomato soup. Very thick, orange, exactly what you would expect from a jar. Was not tomato soup.
And then there was the service. Our server was pleasant enough. But while my wife and I are having a very emotional conversation, holding hands across the table with tears of joy, our server walks right up and asks how everything is. Absolutely didn’t read the table. One time, I wouldn’t have said anything. But then she does it again 5 minutes later.
When 2 people are holding hands across the table and they’re in the middle of a tearful conversation, you just don’t interrupt and ask if you need anything.
Twice.
Without a doubt will not be going back to The Loop West End.
UPDATE TO THE LOOP RESPONSE…
VERY impressed with the response.
Refreshing not seeing the usual “tell us how we can improve” line. I’m a project manager, and you handled this exactly the way I would have with my team. Sharing and learning as a team.
Honestly can’t tell you if we’ll be back, but it’s good to know you guys are continually learning and...
Read moreI went here with family for a birthday celebration dinner a few days ago. Place has a fun vibe to it, good service, and great food. Everyone at my table enjoyed their meals. My husband and I had the juicy loopy, and both of us really liked it. Our table also enjoyed the calamari and black bean dip for starters. They even gave my husband a free little ice cream for his birthday, which he really enjoyed.
I have some dietary restrictions, but the restaurant was easily able to accommodate with a gluten-free bun (that was actually pretty good for being gluten-free) and made sure the seasoning on my food did not have garlic in it. The one area where this restaurant could do even better in the area of dietary restrictions would be to have nutrition info online (including ingredients for each dish or at minimum a list of which common alergens are in each meal), so customers with restrictions can better see which dishes they can or can't eat. I was also a little disappointed that the chef was not able to come up with another fry seasoning with other spices, since I was told I had to order them naked to avoid garlic. A good chef should be able to easily know some other spice combos that don't use garlic or even just salted would be fine. (Example- olive oil, salt, pepper, and parsley are quite good on fries and are common spices to have around.)
We also had a vegetarian at our table and she was very pleased with the large vegetarian selection of menu options here. She ordered the vegetarian "chicken" and rice bowl, and she really liked it.
Overall, this place was very good, and I would come here again. My only minor complaint about the atmosphere was it was super dark inside to the point my dad had to use a flashlight to see the menu. I'd like a bit better lighting in the evening hours. Besides making it hard to read the menu, the darkness inside made it feel a bit gloomy if seated away from a window. Otherwise, this place...
Read moreI just want to say, I’m really disappointed. I was harassed by the staff. The loop made my birthday the worst by far. My boyfriend and I went there last night to celebrate my birthday. Immediately when we get there our group of friends go to the bathroom and I sit just outside the doors to wait for them. I’m sitting for about 3 minutes before a barback comes out and points to me like I’ve committed a crime, then the other one folds his arms and nods staring at me. Then I get approached and told I’m not allowed to sit on the stool and made felt like I’m doing something wrong. I kindly get up and stand next to the stool to wait for my friends and the barback walks away without another word. The multiple drinks we ordered were diluted with cranberry juice. I’m addition, the dance floor had people just standing around all night because everyone was confused about the music the DJ was playing. I thought it was just my friend group that didn’t enjoy the music, but then the people all around us we met agreed it was not anything you can dance to or have heard before. To top it off, at 1:30 all of the lights turn on and the staff screams like we were a bunch of cattle to get out of the bar. My boyfriend and i were confused and double check in our phones closing time which was 2am online. We go over to a booth to finish the double tall cranberry he just ordered and a girl comes over to tell us to get out. Then immediately we’re shocked at the way we’re being spoken to, and then 5 other giant men approach us and start swearing that we need to get out right now. I asked them if we could finish the drinks and the staff say yes but more people/staff come from the sides and continue to yell at us. Within a matter of 60 seconds we’re surrounded by the entire staff being yelled at that we have to get out like we’re doing something wrong so we end up leaving our drinks and walking out. I left in tears, I have never been...
