We were in the area so we stopped by for some drinks. Loved the rustic vibe of this cafe. Very unique and perfect for St. Paul. Everything from the chalk menu to the hidden gems around the cafe were so fun.
My husband got the Nutty Mick - hazelnut, dark chocolate, espresso with oat milk. His drink was so smooth and delicious! No hint of bitterness here. Not too sweet but the flavor of the coffee was perfect so you didn't need too much sweetness.
I got the London Fog Latte with regular whole milk and it did not disappoint. Very creamy with the perfect hint of vanilla. Not too sweet. Went well with some morning donuts.
They have a large pastry selection which they make in-house at their other location - I'll have to divulge in some of those items next time. They also have a limited breakfast menu. Husband and I both agreed this is a coffee shop we would love to visit again some day!
The only downside was that it was busy even at 9:10 am - we waited in line and got our drinks in about 15+ mins. But I could tell the baristas were working as fast as they could. Just goes to show that the place is popular ! We didn't mind waiting and...
Read moreA lot of potential here, but the business practices ... need some work. Ordered two 16oz caramel lattes and two scones for approximately $21 ($25 after tip) and some time standing in a very cold St. Paul. Cool. We will look, will pay, and will stand in the freezing midwest for some well-prepared lattes. Disappointed to find that the 16oz lattes come with a single shot of espresso. So, it was really great to pay that much for a medium-sized cup of what amounted to steamed milk. The defined coffee to milk ratios was not appropriate for the drink. I was under the impression (perhaps wrongly) that the dude at the window would have said, these come with a single shot before we paid. I appreciate that the Claddagh makes their syrups in-house, but the caramel that went into my drink was a tad burnt. First-world problems, I know!!! I feel kinda gross writing this review, but it is meant to help them. I will come again, and if my experience is better, this review will be replaced by a...
Read moreI’ve been here 4 or 5 times now and have been increasingly disappointed each time. I think I’ve been here enough times to finally comment that the specialty coffees are never as good as they sound, which is a real shame because they all sound amazing.
Today I got a large, hot Saint Patty’s which is supposed to be espresso, coconut, and dark chocolate (w/steamed milk). I tasted the coconut but there was no chocolate whatsoever. I’m not even sure if there was espresso in it. It literally tasted like lukewarm milk with some coconut syrup.
This has been the case every time I have ordered a specialty coffee. It ends up being lukewarm and tasting like milk. I don’t know how many shots of espresso are supposed to be in the specialty coffees, but either it isn’t enough or they forget to put them in. Maybe I just need to stick with a cold press or americano to taste coffee.
I will say that the staff is always nice and I do love the decor here. I just wish the coffee lived up to...
