First, let me say how much I have loved this place, and I treasure it. BUT I feel people deserve to know how this one manager treated me.
On Sunday, June 22 my husband and I ate there for brunch and supper and we did not eat anywhere else that day. Our reservation was 6:15 PM. We were eating by 6:40 PM. My husband got a upset stomach by about 8:45 PM and I got an upset stomach at 4:30 AM Monday morning. My husband‘s problem only lasted about 24 hours. It’s now Friday and I’m still having issues despite taking charcoal and Kaopectate. I had to wait until Wednesday when they re-opened to call and ask for a refund on our dinner. I explained that I knew it was this restaurant because we did not eat anywhere else that day. The manager tried to say it was Murrays restaurant from Saturday night that made us sick. I told him he was a fool since it has been MORE THAN 24 HOURS between the time we ate at Murray’s and our dinner there.
The manager said food poisoning doesn’t manifest within two hours. It takes 8 to 24 hours. And since I was claiming my husband got sick within two hours, I was wrong about it being their restaurant. All I wanted was our money back for that one meal and I planned on continuing to come to the restaurant whenever my husband and I come back to Minnesota to visit. The manager was rude at first refuse to give us a refund to which I said, and I have no choice but to escalate this on different levels, which I do not want to do so just kindly give us a refund back. At that point then he threatens me that I’m not allowed to ever come back again
SIR-With all due respect, you need some further education. Some types of food poisoning can manifest in two hours or less. Also, if you are more on the geriatric end, like my husband, he is 64 your stomach is more susceptible to bad bacteria. MORE IMPORTANTLY-Did you know that the danger temperature zone for fish and seafood is anything over 40° and anything under 150°? Also once in that danger zone for more than 20 minutes the bad bacteria on fish and seafood DOUBLES in its amount and intensity. Since my husband and I both had Fish I had The scallops, which were only pan seared, and my husband had your fish with tomatoes on it, which was definitely cooked and hot, but it certainly wasn’t fried means that is what more than likely happened and made us sick. IT WAS ALSO 95° ON SUNDAY WHEN WE ATE THERE! You were NOT running the air conditioning in your building to help keep the temperature down therefore, that would greatly affect the status of the food unless your people were keeping that fish in the cold refrigerator up to the moment they go to cook it and then serve it immediately and not let it just sit around, waiting to be served to where it’s in that 40-150° temp range for too long.
LASTLY- not only do I have a degree in health and I’ve also done food and safety training MY HUSAND WAS A INFECTION CONTROL SPECIALIST FOR LANGLEY AFB! So yes, you better believe I know what I’m talking about. I know how food poisoning works and germs and bacteria and if you still wanna doubt me, there’s no way you can doubt my husband’s knowledge.
I know you’re not the manager who spent time with us the last time we were here BECAUSE that manager wore a suit all the time, very professional, very friendly, and if he had been the person I spoke to instead of you he never would’ve said the nasty words that I don’t know what I’m talking about or gaslighting me or telling me I can never come back because your cooks made a mistake. I have literally spent THOUSANDS of dollars over the different times that I have come and eaten at this restaurant, and I will continue to show up and eat here at this place because it’s one of...
Read moreI have enjoyed W A Frosts for decades and brought family, friends, and out of town, visitors, as well as enjoying special occasions and my inaugural, spring gin, and tonic on the patio. I had not been in some time, but I had a friend from out of town and wanted to treat her to brunch. I now have a garlic intolerance that High-end restaurants are usually able to accommodate, but requires me to have specific conversations about what I can eat on the menu and what I cannot. At the moment I told the server about my intolerance, He interrupted to say Everything has garlic, I couldn’t eat hardly anything, and he had been asked this question before, so he knew. He kept pushing the yogurt and fruit, which is not something I was inclined to order for a special occasion.
He was talking so quickly, it was hard to ask about anything and then he left. It sounded like he thought they could do the omelette And he sort of gesture to the menu, so I waited for him to come back and had to start my questions over again. He again kept referencing yogurt and fruit and eventually mention They could not guarantee cross contamination, which seemed like the main goal, not for me, but for the restaurant. He had said I could build something from the sides, but I didn’t get to ask what might be possible and in the end Those options were not all possible either, which is why I had asked about them again, because I thought that might be the case.
In the process of proving his point, he mentioned scraping the girl if they had to they could make pancakes or French toast. But throughout any suggestion was presented as a burden and not as a way for me to enjoy brunch or with the restaurant had to offer.
I watched him wait on the table that arrived after us more attentively, Even for things like coffee. And at one point, he made a comment of how it was taking so long, because they had to do so much preparation. At no point was there any Effort to imply that I was not the problem and they were a wonderful restaurant where they were happy to help customers if needed.
I was embarrassed for the inattentiveness and the amount of time and effort it took throughout the meal to get another fork, to get coffee, to put in our order, and to get any ongoing attention, even as minimal as how is everything here, except at the end when I had already asked about anything that was needed And it seemed to be more about, now is there anything else you need.
I was disappointed, but more, so it made the meal more exhausting and without the flow that I enjoy, and that the ambience seek to offer. I’m not sure if he thought two people were not going to order enough to warrant his time and attention, but it was frustrating to not know why attention was not being paid.
Fortunately, my friend loved the patio and all it invites, as well as the food. It’s too bad. The server seemed to think that their part and providing a good experience was...
Read moreThis was one of the worst experiences I have had in awhile. We were at bar area which was meh nothing really spectacular. Our server came over and started with good service but ended it bad. We ordered a variety of shareable food the deviled eggs, cheese curds and onion petals, a burger and the spinach dip. My friends also had a lemon drop and the plum mule. The food was terrible as a matter of fact some of the worst bar food I have ever had. The dip tasted so artifical and all you could taste was cheese, the burger was ok but the thick cheese that was on there was disgusting and barely melted, the deviled eggs had shrimp that wasn't cooked on top and it was gross and the cheese curds were just cheese nothing fancy. We waited for some time for the server to come back which I then let her know the dip and the eggs we did not like and wanted off the bill. She said no problem and took the eggs but left the dip. So we waited and waited and someone else came to the table we gave them the dip and then waited for her to come back over. Her service has now changed from good to bad and we sit quite some time before she comes over. When she does she asks how did we want the check split we tell her in four ways she says ok and then comes back and drops a bill off not split. I look at the bill and the eggs are off but not the dip so I tell the server who snatches the bill (she is mad now) and tells us she can't split the bills even though she is the one who asked. So we wait and wait again mind you its 7pm our reservation was for 530 and we are still sitting there. The server stops back by about 5 minutes later to tell us she is having her manger take it off the bill but he is taking his sweet time. Next thing you know out comes the manager who stops over to the table and asks us what was wrong and if our service was bad. We proceed to tell him about the foods that were supposed to be taken off the bill and he argues with us that the best he can do is a gift card we tell him we didn't want a gift card and we need our money ASAP!!! We would never come back there so why argue over $22. My friend tells him what he is going to do is take it of and bring the bill so we can pay he argues some more stating the server said we ate half of it blah blah then agrees. The server who is now pissed comes back and says I'm sorry he felt the need to come do that and leaves the bill doesn't come back for awhile so my friend has to find her on the way to the bathroom just to get the bill paid. The bill was $138 ridiculous for that overpriced, nasty food they sure didn't deserve it and we will never come back!!
