Must order the Monkey Balls - delicious and full of crab! Stopped in after the lunch rush before hitting the beach for our two night staycay in PAG. Been here before & always look forward to sitting outside because you get a great view of the beach. I have to comment on the service we received. We weren’t in a hurry but after being seated we watched other tables get seated and order - servers walked past us repeatedly (we were seated next to the door) so after about 20 minutes we asked if we could order. The server said she wasn’t our server but she would find her…turns out she WAS our server and came back to take our order while apologizing. Hoped that now she knew she goofed that she would dial up the service a little. Nope. We ordered our drinks & 5 appetizers. Got our drinks but after about 40 minutes without any food we finally caught the server’s attention and inquired about our order. I honestly think she forgot to send it to the kitchen. People who had come in after us had eaten, paid and left before we got our food. We order another round of drinks but they came after we ate our food. The other servers looked like they were good, but ours was badly in need of some general training and supervision. We will return because we like to food and atmosphere.

I’ve lived in St.Pete my whole life with family on Sunset Beach/PAG since forever. Somehow I’ve never eaten at The Brass Monkey. It was Memorial Day Weekend (Sunday, 5/29/22) and we didn’t want to eat at the yacht club. So, we found a free parking spot along Eighth Avenue and walked on up. To start, it’s a Ravens bar. They have one of the nicest hostesses who offered us inside seating as well as a sunny table outside. We opted to wait for a more shaded table on their outdoor patio overlooking the beach. The inside is loud which is expected if you are there to watch a game and grab some wings. But, who really comes to the beach to sit inside on a beautiful summer day? Once seated, I looked through the extensive menu. I fish offshore a lot, so I skipped ordering fish this time. Although when I come back, I’m grabbing a crab cake! We ordered the jerk chicken starter that’s served with a homemade Caribbean sauce, yum. Then two Caesar’s. I had the seared 10 oz Ahi Tuna as my entree. This place does not disappoint. The portions are huge, the owner is NOT greedy as you’ll notice by the fair pricing and the staff is super friendly. Our drinks stayed full. Everything that passed our table looked delicious as well. We will be back later this week for a late lunch.

Fantastic location. Our server was very accommodating. The alcohol is very potent. They do not disappoint there. However, the Funky Monkey, although good... banana liquor there wasn't much ice and missed of the funky monkeys I had, include espresso liquor as well. I ordered a second song those items. All not enough ice but the drink was good. The "Monkey balls" are a form of crab cake. Cooked perfect. Rounded sauce, as a chef I would change. Needs to be more of a garlic lemon aoli. I think it would give it that extra punch and make it a house special. The burgers are small, great for a child's lunch small. Wouldn't get them again. I got the black & blue salad. Full of flavor. Heavy handed on the blue cheese, & I'm a blue cheese lover. Their house Balsamic is very good I was impressed. Presentations need some improvement which could also boost their bottom dollar on food costs. Overall, 3 drinks, a burger, a salad, & 1 app for lunch ran 55.00 in pass-a-grille, FL that's really not a bad price I suppose. They've got the makings for an over the top explosive menu. With just a few tweaks I would have given them a 5. Just not there yet. However, the front of the house & view in this restaurant are 5's all day long. Great job Logan!

I grew up close to Baltimore and I totally agree with “I always dream BIG” ‘s review. For $41 for 2 crab cakes in a DIVE bar, made with canned pasteurized “crab” meat that is totally not fresh and definitely NOT MARYLAND blue crab. It was a blue crab variety from Vietnam and that area. It is obvious to anyone who has crabbed and shelled their own over a lifetime. Our crabcakes were COLD, dry and flavorless. The cream of crab soup tasted like a tin can with a tablespoon of some type of claw/shredded backfin type of meat. Many customers were complaining about the rude host and the staff was complaining they can’t get anyone to work in their kitchen, apologizing for the long wait. True Maryland crabcakes are worth the wait, but please save your money. The french fries were also cold and the salad had 1 grape tomato cut in half and 1 slice of cucumber quartered. The waitresses were pleasant and hopping. The view was nice, but otherwise save your money and go elsewhere that delivers a good meal. This place is in much need of updates and the soap in the ladies room was a big bottle of Dawn dishwashing Detergent. The whole place had a musty odor and the menus and condiments haven’t been cleaned in years. It’s gross. No clue who in their right mind would give this restaurant a good review or second chance. I wish I didn’t pay the bill, coz it was a horrible experience and neither if us finished our “meals”. The waitress did apologize, but after spending $170.00, I would have expected a manager to come over and make things right. The owners totally misrepresent their food, quality, service and staff.

UPDATE: owner did not address the issues, and they are relying on their reviews of their friends and...

Edit* to respond to their response. Dropped another star due to the fake conclusions drawn up by the owners response.

Why you do have so many generic answers for me. Wrong. You guys over salt your food 100% (as I literally said). I've had salmon and crab cakes my whole life. Unfortunately you are SOL if you "assume" salt Bay seasoning is what I (over) tasted. Did you know you can over salt, salt Bay seasoning?!? Wow.. think about it! THE SALMON WAS SO SALTY IT KIND OF BURNED MY MOUTH A BIT. Does this make more sense? Would you prefer me to explain more? My girlfriend confirmed this first. It was her dish and yes, it sucks. It was not definitely not to perfection, and was rather cold as well when served.

Your competitive pricing needs to be lowered due to the lack of quality sir. Or jusy keep shoveling the same lower quality food and you'll have people like me complaining about it!

Your poor acknowledgement and assumptions is what's is making me respond, you as a manager should consider customers opinions rather then draw up fake conclusions for other people. This is a small tip for you as business owner, maybe it goes right over your head.... again!

Definitely not returning after your poor excuse.

I tried to be honest and forward, yet here you are putting words in my mouth. The disrespect.

Salmon was overly salty, crab cakes were plain, mozzarella sticks were actually quite amazing. Service was great! I won't be returning, the food just wasn't worth the money we spent. It's a nice spot if you are starving by the beach or want...

What the hell happened to this joint. The rudeness the inattentive staff. Waited 10 mins to be greeted. Got drinks. Waited another 10 to finally order after i had to flag the waitress down. Sat patiently for 30 mins. Finally told the server we have to leave and 86 the food. Then the manager comes over with a horrible attitude and telling me it takes 32 mins on a dinner rush. It 8pm. Im local. Been coming here for years and that will be my last time. The rudeness, of im guessing the owner or something, told me that ive been served here faster? And basically said im lying and its a dinner rush. Its not in season. The place was dead yall just suck and have a horrible attitude. I don't know what's changed in the last few years but my god stay away. If thats how they treat locals god forbid you be a tourist. Ive never been talked to or treated that way at any establishment. Unreal. 1 hour got water and 1 drink. 1 freaking hour no food. Never checked on or talked to. . Or sorry its taking a while. Etc. I used to recommend this llace on the regular. Well thats over. Unreal of the service and treatment. Meanwhile the table next to us had waited 40 mins, so there goes your bs 32 min rush excuse, as i watched their server chug a beer behind the counter. Dont believe me see my previous review.

Previous review 2 years ago.

One of my most favorite places to get some.grub and some drinks. Don't let the upstairs fool ya. This is a spot. And trust me when I say this place is awesome. I'm a Browns fan and the owner is a die hard Raven. So yes....
