This is a great little place! We were unable to get here before 4:30, and the shop closes at 5:30. They got us a pole and bait to rent for that hour, and were kind and helpful about doing that so close to their closing time. We were visiting from out of town and this was the only opportunity for fishing, so we were extremely grateful. We didn't see an end time on the website, or we might not have tried to get here in the first place. But I'm glad we made the trek (1 1/2 hours). The last boat had also just came in, and they were getting the caught fish ready for the people who caught them. That was well organized and fun to watch. They feed the left over fish parts to the eagerly awaiting pelicans, I'm sharing a video. So fun, less waste and happy pelicans and people. Highly recommend this place if you want to fish and need to rent a pole, or can go out on the boat. Wonderful people work here! And they have a super...
Read moreWe weren't there when the pier was open. It is a very small Pier with a store but we didn't get to go inside it closes at 5 pm. If you do go on the Sunset Cruise use the bathroom before and I would recommend bringing something to eat and drink. We met up at Merry Pier for the Sunset Cruise. We enjoyed that Sunset Cruise if you have the chance I would recommend you take it. The captain was very good at explaining everything and he was very funny also and it made the trip even more wonderful. It was only $25 a person. an hour and a half and like I said to bring food and drinks we didn't think we would be hungry till we saw everyone with their...
Read moreOK, I guess I'm a 'regular' at Merry Pier. Pretty much any weekend you're liable to find me fishing there. With a perfect location on the Pass-A-Grille channel, pretty much everything that swims in the nearshore Gulf of Mexico can be caught there. I've landed more than my share of mangrove snapper, lane snapper, snook, redfish, gag grouper, red grouper, cobia, mackerel, pompano, sheepshead, black drum, sharks, sea bass, grunts, porgies, flounder and more.
Don't forget to check out the store located on the Merry Pier - they have live and frozen bait, rod rentals, beer and food, and even a fresh...
