We first stopped by during our Saturday exploration of the surrounding wilderness known as Pass A Grille for a refreshment and to check out the menu. Unfortunately, we had just eaten breakfast across the street at another spot. My awesome wife, knowing that my hunt for the best Bloody Mary on the planet is on-going, saw they offered an “Ultimate Bloody Mary” so we stopped and I got one and she ordered another adult breakfast beverage, a vodka-tonic for those of us whom are fully functional at 10:00am on a Saturday 😊. The Mary was really, really, really good! Zing Zang, Vodka, Pickled Asparagus, Pickled string beans, pepperoncini, Olives, celery stick and a peppery, salty, sort of spicy delicious rim blend. Did I mention it was really, really, really yummy? So far, in my top 5 ever! We did look at the menu and decided we were going to return the next morning to try their Crab Cake benedict. Sounded delicious so we wanted to try it. Sunday morning, hung over, we walked the 3 miles from the hotel back to Hurricane Seafood Restaurant where we were greeted by an older lady who was pleasant enough and sat us inside where it was cool. We ordered a Bloody for me and wifey got a drink of her own (which she slammed in record time cause it was apparently that good). Our server was Algor, and he was a super nice guy, very accommodating and pleasant. We did order the Crab Cake Benedict to split and when it arrived, we were pleasantly surprised by the size of the portion. It was big. Actually they were big – big enough for two people if you don’t want to be weighed down by a huge breakfast. Now, I gotta say, we have had a many of crab cakes in our adventures but none have ever been as crabby and less cakey than these were. HOLY CRAB-A-MOLEY!! These were fan-friggin-tastic, eye-rolling, Meg Ryan, table-slapping, orgasmically awesome!! Okay, maybe too far but you get the point. From the Hollandaise to the perfectly toasted oversized English Muffin. Not a single flaw for us. Truly amazing and a MUST TRY if you have the opportunity (we can’t wait for our next trip back!) We finished eating, paid and walked outside and were greeted by the owner, Bruno, who thanked us for our patronage and we chatted a little wherein he told us to check out his second floor of the building. We agreed to but first, we went across the street to buy a hat for my wife cause the sun was hot. We got o the second floor and it was nice, a little dated but the views to the beach were beautiful, from both inside the air-conditioned portion or outside on the balcony. We sat outside and ordered a beer and a cocktail and we simply enjoyed the serenity of it all. It was beautiful. Eventually, we got to noon and this place even has a rooftop bar, which, incidentally, opens at noon so we headed on up. One word; WOW!! The rooftop views were unbelievable! Best beach views we’ve had on either of our 2 visits to St. Pete Beach. Our Bartender Tony was also a super-nice guy. We had lots of conversation and talked about the area and how clean and nice and friendly the locals are. Hell, we even saw wild parrots…We didn’t know there were wild parrots in the area but sure as sugar, they were everywhere which made our whole experience at this place. Honestly, if you get the chance, go and experience the 3 levels of happiness for yourself; you...
Read moreFrom Sour Sips to Seafood Bliss! After hearing my mom rave about The Hurricane Seafood Restaurant in Pass-a-Grille for decades, my husband and I finally made the trip - and let me tell you, the view alone made it worth it. The rooftop bar offers a stunning panoramic look at the Gulf that feels like you’re standing on the edge of paradise. But the food? Even better.
Our visit started a little rocky with the worst strawberry margaritas either of us had ever sipped - so tart they made our faces pucker. To her credit, our waitress was incredible. She didn’t just brush it off - she sincerely wanted us to be happy and made it clear she was determined to make things right. She told us the bartender likely forgot the agave and personally went back to add it herself. The drinks came back better - not perfect, but at least drinkable - and she absolutely offered to bring us brand new ones. She was the kind of server who makes you feel like your experience actually matters. We decided to let it ride.
Then the Boom Boom Shrimp hit the table, and things started turning around. And then - the grouper. Thick, fresh, flaky, and fried to absolute perfection. This wasn’t just good fish. This was hands-down the best grouper either of us has ever had. The portion was generous, the flavor was incredible, and the texture was spot on. It was the kind of bite that instantly erases any earlier complaints. That alone would’ve had us planning our next visit.
The rest of the Seafood Platter held its own too - the jumbo shrimp were great, the crab cake was good, and the fries hit the spot. The food was phenomenal, the service was top-notch, and the manager who stopped by wanted to be sure we were enjoying everything - he seemed very genuine and encouraged us to check out the rooftop view after dinner.
We had already planned on it, and oh my gosh… it was breathtaking. The breeze was soft and salty, the sky lit up in gold and coral, and that water - so clear and vividly teal it didn’t look real. Standing up there, looking out over it all, felt like we were on the edge of the world in the best possible way. It wasn’t just beautiful - it was the kind of view that makes you stop, breathe, and remember how lucky you are to be alive. Breathtaking.
It’s a bit of a drive for us, but we’ll be back. That grouper alone is worth the miles - and now we understand exactly why my mom never stopped talking...
Read moreI don't know how this place functions. A beautiful location like that deserves a REAL TEAM OF PROFESSIONALLY TRAINED EMPLOYEES! Don't get me wrong, food is delicious but this restaurant is so insanely disorganized! I am literally appalled from today's experience. I've come here a few times and always dining on second level. And every time is a literal struggle from start to finish. Takes 10 min to get noticed, 10 min to get a server to the table, another 15 to get your drinks when the floor has probably not more than 30 tables and not all are occupied. All the servers are walking around with visible upset. Today i counted 7 servers. 7! For a floor that can be managed by probably 3 if they were a real team. Tables are sitting dirty for an hour yet they make ppl wait 45min. But what seriously upset me today is the hostess outside ( long red hair) and whatever this other lady is (short dark hair). This girl shouldn't be working here or any food establishment! She was eating greasy onion rings that were in a box at her hostess station the entire time we were here , wiping her fingers all over herself. spilling sauce on her shirt, while talking to guests, licking her fingers and touching the menus! WHO DOES THAT? AND WHERE IS THE MANAGER? In what food establishment is this ok? That is so unbelievably unprofessional. Meanwhile a waitress stormed out swearing and throwing her hands in the air in front of customers ready to quit. all three women in the picture I've posted got involved in the drama. This is ridiculous, this is not a way to run a restaurant. These people are so incredibly untrained and lazy and unhappy to be here. (There may be some hard working employees inside but you are not going to make up fornl the clear lack of management in this place) .There is a floor manager who seems to be overwhelmed and just tired. I watched these two women's interactions with the guests and they both were indifferent and just rude. I watched the people who decided to dine in as well and I dont know if the average American has very low standards or it's just because a lot of them are tourists and don't have time to notice but if the owner or manager of this place reads this - EVALUATE YOUR STAFF , GET NEW TRAINED IN HOSPITALITY PROFESSIONALS! you are loosing business when you are literally sitting on...
