Salsa Bar is a definite must. Freshness of everything is unsurpassed. So many skimp on the avocado, but Alejandro's is more than generous from their Salsa Mexicana (avocado based salsa) to the portion presented in the meal, it really set the mood for delicious Mexican repast. If you don't like avocado, that's OK (though something might be wrong with you), there are plenty of options that don't include avocado or guacamole. Was a little concerned about the quality of the food, as many "bars" are more interested in their alcohol sales and only offer food to keep the taps flowing. Here, it is a true delight to enjoy even the generous lunch portions. The Cuban Sandwich, which includes 3 kinds of hot meats and plenty of additional condiments (including avocado), is a double handful of goodness. If you have a willing dinning partner, have them drizzle the various salsas on your Cuban while you take each bite. It provides some excellent variety and allows you to keep ahold of the prize. The Steak Fajita Taco Salad is also generous with what appeared to be a home-made tortilla and nice blend of rice, beans, salad and condiments. For the salsa, it was a lot of fun to fill up multiple cups and try the 6 different varieties. Pre-COVID, they used to have even more variety of salsas, hopefully they will be able to get back to that in the future. Service was excellent & FAST. Absolutely loved it. Thanks for the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreFairly cheap! Somewhat of a strange atmosphere in the restaurant though. Oddly, all the windows were blacked out. The service was very fast. The entre food was adequate, fairly salty. The people were nice!
The main gripe is the salsa bar! The presentation of it was quite gross. We tried all six types of salsa, here are the reviews:
Mild red one: tasted like ketchup with the texture of very blended pasta sauce
Spicy red one: very very very faint hint of spice on top of the ketchup/pasta sauce flavor
The chunky green (avocado?) one: Literally no flavor, my glass of water was more flavorful.
The corn one: Tasted like corn.
The orange one (looks kinda like queso): this one tasted like mayonnaise but the aftertaste was mouth pain, not even spicy just kind of a burn.
The blanco one: a very niche flavor. Kind of like ranch dressing mixed with a small amount of cake frosting. Truly odd.
It should be noted that the salsa bar was free. You get what...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreUsed to be a great place and a go-to for us, until very recently. The past 2 times we have ordered from Alejandro's in Salem, the same order they used to make correctly for months on end, they have made the order incorrectly. Upon bringing this to their attention, as accidents do happen and the fix is quite easy, the manager has fought with us even though the incorrect food and what we ordered were shown directly to his face. "On the side" does not mean on the food. Showing him the sauce is on the food when our ordered specified 'on the side' led to the manager himself being extremely rude, disrespectful and showed a clear lack of ethics. If we can't trust a restaurant to listen and be understanding, we can't trust them with food we put in our bodies. Sadly, Alejandro's will no longer be a choice of eatery for us. Even if you're having a bad day, as is human, you just don't take it out on...
