Bentley's Coffee — Restaurant in Salem

Bentley's customer service has gone into the trash. I've been a regular customer, (a couple of times a week, but not anymore). I went in today to get a smoothie and wash up in the restroom. But they've instituted a new policy that you must wait in line and pay for your order before you're permitted to wash up. This does nothing but waste valuable time in my schedule. Starbucks tried doing this a few years ago and received such negative national media attention that they had to reverse course. What made it worse was the attitude and manner that the short & stocky hispanic male working the register had when he told me about this. He did everything but say “get out, we don't want you here” as he was telling me about this new policy. “Capital Coffee” is only a block away, and has awesome smoothies AND friendly service (it's where I got mine after leaving Bentley's). There's also a few other restaurants that sell them near by. I've been going to Bentley's since they opened, BECAUSE OF the customer service. Since that's no longer there, I'll just use their competition. I recommend others do the same.

Way more than a coffee shop. Whether it's shakes smoothies & teas to oatmeal, bagels & cream cheese; it's hard to think of Bentley's only in terms of Coffee. Please don't go here. Its become quite awful lately. The last 4 times I've been here in 2 weeks every time is so disappointing. My husband's strawberry milk shake was a ton of frozen berry and some milk. You couldn't even drink it..just thick tasteless strawberry ice. My latte last week was barely warm. My peanut butter dream milkshake was under parr. They have a dumb girl at to Jerk men working there now. What happened to the staff that was friendly and could make delicious drinks? Also paying customers are not allowed to use the bathroom. A coffee shop without a bathroom??? How is that ok???

Responding to your response You clearly didn't read my response through Where did I say there was ice in my husband's milkshake? If you actually read it you would see that I said it was frozen berry's and milk..it tasted flavorless like strawberry ice. There was absolutely no sugar in it. I will not be returning unfortunately. I have been coming to Bentleys several times a week a year ago..I just moved back to sale.m I live close an was extremely excited to go to Bentleys. What happened this past year?? There are plenty of other places that serve coffee and milkshakes down town. Also you didn't address the fact that your servers don't know how to steam milk or the fact your coffee shop won't let paying customers use the bathroom. Seriously that's just cruel..you know coffee drinking...

I think the service is kind of random. One time go there, no problems. Next time, we order coffee and a Danish. Danish never arrived (we waited since she said she had to warm it up) We ask about it, girl said we never paid for it, she thought we didn't want it. Ok..I don't know why she thought they since we told her to add it.

So I think a big problem here is the music in the store is just too loud. Turn down the music so you can hear your customers talk to you. Oh and maybe hire less airheads. In fact I think the girl was just lying because she literally told us she had to warm it up and then just never did it. She got distracted by her boss, I don't know what was going on. She just entirely forgot and I don't think she wanted to...
