Fantasy Island — Restaurant in Salem

So the food is always good, but the last two times coming here to eat we have had one particular waitress that i strongly dislike. She is one of the older waitresses who has short bangs and a bob like hair cut. And let me say before i continue literally EVERYONE else who works there is always kind, respectful, and at least acts like they are in a good mood to provide good service. I have NEVER had a SINGLE problem with another worker other than this particular waitress.

First she is never pleasant, she has acted as if us being there is a burden. She gets many things wrong or doesn't bring certain items we ask for and even when asked again its still wrong. Then I notice on your website you are happy to give vegetarian and gluten free options for more healthy eating, well you need to let this particular waitress know that, cause when I asked if a certain food was vegetarian, she lied to me. She stood there and guessed if it was vegetarian or not then my friend who I was with saw her roll her eyes the minute her back was turned from me.

She has been very cold, rude and honestly if I go there and have this particular waitress I am either going to leave or ask for a different waitress. Cause I'm not gonna ask a question nicely and for dietary reasons only to have someone on purpose lie, not double check, and then roll their eyes at me. I always treat people who serve others with respect cause I know how hard they work, but ill be damned if I'm gonna have someone roll their eyes at me for asking a question respectfully and for a...

Ordered the luncheon take out the other day... and they messed up my order again!... ordered the lo mein(which I always order) and they gave me rice instead and also BURNED the crab rangoon on my plate AND the extra side order I had purchased for later. Brought it in to show the lady and she was more than happy to make it right.(I only showed her the rice which she corrected for lo mein. I did not show her the burnt rangoons although I should have) But then there was some slight yelling I heard in the back kitchen area when she went in there to have them correct my order and a few other people got involved in the back kitchen area as if someone was upset. Probably the cooks, although I wouldn't know why. Especially when they are the ones that probably made the mistake. It made me feel quite uncomfortable as a customer. It's just upsetting that it's always hit or miss here... either the food and my order is excellent... or there are mistakes like this that you have to put up with. I wish they would pay more attention to what's coming out of the kitchen before it's bagged. They need to keep a watchful eye on their cooks to make sure everything that comes out of that kitchen is consistent.

*UPDATE The owner reached out to me and told me next time to request that they cook things "light",so I gave them another try, and the food quality was absolutely superb...and everything was perfect. Thank you for reaching out Fantasy Island...

Haven’t been here in years.

Grew up in Salem, MA and the city is so crowded now. Had every intention of hitting some spots on the water @ Pickering Wharf.

Could not find parking anywhere. Crazy.

Drove all the way from NH so I had already committed.

Did make it to the Willows which was nice to be by the ocean and enjoy a buttered popcorn @ Hobbs. Best popcorn on the planet.👍💯

I then drove to Fantasy Island for a later lunch before heading home.

When I was a kid, it was China Sails. It was the best and my mom’s favorite.

Fantasy Island took its place and was equally good and very popular.

The food was still DELICIOUS and a great portion!!! Took so much home.

Best Chow Mein I’ve ever had. The pork fried rice was really fresh with big chunks of fresh pork; not dried out like most places in NH.

The Egg roll was not greasy and it was big and so flavorful. Mai Tai was also on point.

Just good old fashioned Chinese done right.👍

Server was very sweet and attentive.
