Five Guys — Restaurant in Swampscott

I am not one to go out of my way to post about personal experiences and write a review, but this was probably one of the worst experiences I have ever had at a food industry.

My family and I were a party of 6 so I knew it was going to be a big order but right from the beginning we were 'greeted' in a rude manner by the Manager, Yuleima. My mother was the first to order and Yuleima kept signing and rolling her eyes just simply from my mother ordering food. We are a very kind and understanding family but this felt very unnecessary. It mad the whole experience not great from the beginning. We then got to my brother-in-law who was trying to order and he repeated multiple times no mushrooms on his order and Yuleima repeated it back in a rude tone. We also ordered 3 milkshakes after all of our orders.

Once we received everything, we noticed that there was mushrooms on the burgers that were suppose to be without, we did not say anything about it since it was not a big deal. Though, we found we were missing one of your milkshakes so we asked to receive the 3rd - we talked to another worker there about making us a 3rd milkshake and they gave us a little bit of a hard time but we provided proof of ordering a 3rd shake. We received it, but a few minutes later Yuleima came over to where we were sitting and started causing us of trying to get a free milkshake after we had provided proof and paid for everything. This was very uncalled for as we were just trying to enjoy our time together as a family. She not only accused us, but even after we provided proof of the order we did not even receive a 'thank you for the explanation' - as soon as she found she made a mistake she just walked away.

I then decided to confront her and acknowledge that this was a very rude thing to do considering we had family form out of town visiting and that we did not even mention anything about her messing up our order. At the end of my conversation with Yuleima all I asked for was an apology and she started speaking in Spanish and eventually said, "Okay, whatever".

Worst experience from a food restaurant, and I would never go back to this place ever again. I hope this does not happen to anyone else that goes there, but to be treated this way from there manager is...

I ordered a cheeseburger ($8.70) only mayo, lettuce, tomatoes, and grilled mushrooms. Also a small order of fries($3.77). Total $12.47. First of all the place was spotless. Very clean wherever you look and it was a little after 1pm on a Sunday. The people working there were very polite and professional. I got my order to go. I took it to the car and immediately opened the bag. The fries were delicious. I think this fresh cut style of fries is the best you can get. I then grabbed my burger and the first problem was that it was very messy the way it was wrapped. It was dripping out of the foil they wrap it in and was getting the bottom of the bag wet. The burger itself was very soggy. The bottom of the bun was almost like soggy paper. The top of the bun wasn't much better. Keep in mind I only took it from the store to my car in their parking lot right in front of the entrance. It's not like I drove home and then opened it. I had it for less than 5 minutes as I opened it in the car. There is a difference between a juicy burger and a wet soggy burger. This was wet and soggy. Flavor of the burger was ok, but the grilled mushrooms had no flavor at all. Overall the burger was bland and needed more seasoning. In closing the fries were the star here and the place was clean and the staff were very nice. I truly don't think they are trained right in wrapping burgers to go. I don't care who you are...you don't want to unwrap a soggy burger. Especially when it was like 4 minutes that it was wrapped until it was opened. They need to rethink their to go packaging or at least let the burger drain a little before they wrap it. I think if you want to spend almost $9 on a burger there are much better places to go...

UPDATE, DEC. 4, 2023: MY LATEST: I'm back in the fold: ☆☆☆☆& 1/2 That's 4.5 stars, folks. Overall - OK, the "atmosphere:" fair-to-middlin' ~ Howsomever (cf "Pogo," I think, from the 'wayback): Hit don't matter none! Good - ALWAYS - The fries, burgers and dogs are consistent from one order to the next. Right down the street, too. What's not to like?! Oh - Well... There IS one thing that's not to like: PRICES! I mean, almost $50 for 2 burgers, one large French fries, and a hot dog! Can't beLIEVE it doesn't deter me! All in all, I guess the numbers don't lie: I LOVE it! 2 Dogs at 5 Guys - Excellent ☆☆☆☆☆ That was then... This is now: ☆- Read: "Star-minus" March '21. Ordered - & PAID - online. Waited @ "Rsvd for Pick up" spot after putting in car make, yr. etc. After 5~10 min. of Zero Activity there, reluctantly went inside and inquired - Admittedly a titch grumpily- alas, this did NOT improve - Was cheerfully told, offhandedly, "Oh, we don't offer curbside pickup for online orders... " I ask you:...
