Jimmy John's — Restaurant in Salem

Great food and employees, but extremely frustrating corporate standards.

I really do love the subs that Jimmy John's offers! The ultimate porker is my favorite because of the bacon. Who doesn't like a sandwich with five strips of bacon?!

The staff and service are fantastic and fast, but it's hard to get them to build my sandwich the way I want it because they "are not allowed to" (an actual quote upon my request to spread the peppers out on my sandwich instead of cramming them in the middle). I really don't like tasting peppers on just half of my sub, so I have to take apart and rebuild every single sandwich I get from this restaurant. They aren't even allowed to put any sauces on the side or recommend their new Jimmy Mustard, which happens to be delicious! I simply do not understand why they are not allowed to service the customers as any other sandwich shop does. Not even the employees could tell me a reason why. I could understand if there were health code violations, but those violations would also have to apply at every other sandwich shop in town.

I give this location five stars for overall food and staff quality, but would rate the corporate policies at three because there should be no issue with building my sandwich the way I...

Couldn't tell if they were open even while in their parking lot but I wasn't from the area. Our JJ's in town closed 2 years ago and so this past Saturday was my first time trying these. I gotta say that I was kindof at a loss as to what to order. I guess I have Subway to blame for that.

Once I did place my order my food was made quite quickly. There was standing room only inside due to Covid protocol. I was a little taken back at the prices though. I got 2 subs with 1 drink and 2 bags of chips and it was over $20. Also my sub while delicious wasn't cut in half or toasted. Again we have Subway to thank for that. Not used to the way JJ's makes their subs. Also no Honey Mustard? I like a little sweet zip on my sub.

Still the one thing JJ's got right was the taste. It felt like a deli sub, made with care. And thus probably worth the price. Subway while different has gotten in the habit of making my orders very sloppy but this sub was made with care. And I can't stop talking about it.

I don’t recommend anyone eating here that jimmy johns commercial about being fast is a joke me and my brother tried calling in a delivery order for lunch and was told we was too far away they only deliver up to 2 miles then when we called back and was willing to meet them 1.5 miles we was told they only deliver up to 1.4 miles then when I asked if they deliver to Roanoke college which is 2 miles away they said yes we only deliver in one direction lol I think it’s kind of messed up they will deliver two miles in one direction to some out of town college punks but won’t deliver 1.5 miles the other direction I told them on the phone if y’all only deliver in one direction how the hell do y’all get back then lol this place is a joke G.B.
