Rocco's Bar Grill — Restaurant in Salem

Went in on new year's eve at about 1am. I had just shut down the bar I run, and was looking for something to eat. There was about 15 patrons when I arrived. It looked like everyone had a drink, and was having a good time. I approached the bar and waited approximately 10 minutes before a women (5'3", 120lbs, blondish hair, late 40's/early 50's) came behind the bar. No idea was she was prior. She immediately made eye contact, but ignored me to help the guy that had just walked up next to me needing a drink. I politely and firmly asked if she was still serving food, to which I already knew the answer, and she immediately turned around, grabbed a menu, and tossed it on the bar towards me mumbling something about the bottom of the page. I figured out on my own that she was only serving food with an astric by it(fried). Something about the encounter made me not want to eat there. After a quick glance, I thanked her and left. I will not be stopping by there again. I've been in the service industry my entire life and have a tendency to over tip. Reflecting back, I'm appreciative that I saved about $25 that night. I went home and cooked myself a steak...

Initial trepidation from the waitstaff melted away after she realized that my party was made up of clever old men. Sure it was "Tostada Tuesday" but some folks don't need to be told how hungry they are. The barkeep/waitstaff of one did a good job serving us, however the food left something to be desired. Our Nachos were a solid mass of cheese when brought to the table, and lacked the generosity of most pub fare.

Interesting little dive bar. 1st night place was hopping and couldnt sit at the bar. The bartender has some vocal issues and cant talk. So i ordered a drink and found a table but the pool players showed up and ran me off so i was able to bring my drink outside and have a smoke which is cool. 2nd night (Saturday) the place was dead and easily sat at bar. Same bartender. Wierd music selection both nights. I might come back but not a place i would frequent as a traveler. Oh but price of...
