I wanted to share my experience at Capitol City Grill at Holiday Inn, a restaurant that seemed promising. I have a non-verbal autistic child, and sometimes it can be challenging to make her understand certain things. A few days ago, we went there to dine in. My child was not in the mood to wear shoes, so she took them off as soon as she sat on the chair with her legs folded.
The waitress informed us that her manager had said they would not serve us until she wore her shoes. We explained that our child did not want to wear her shoes at that moment, but she was sitting with her legs folded and would not put her bare feet on the floor. Despite explaining that she is autistic and currently having a difficult time, they only served us water and said that was all they could do unless she wore her shoes. They didn't directly ask us to leave, but their actions made it clear that we should. This experience broke my heart. If my child has special needs and behaves differently, do we as parents not have the right to dine in any restaurant? I have dined at the best restaurants in Portland and have never encountered such a response. The manager did not even bother to come over, nor did the waitress apologize for their behavior. I am truly shocked by how cold-hearted and impolite people...
Read moreOrdered breakfast to go at 7:55am was told it would be ready between 10 to 15 min, I got to the restaurant at 8:17 am food was not ready. As 8:30am hits I saw a familiar face (ex co-worker and current Manager) I use to work at the Hotel, previously known as the Red Lion Hotel and I was told that I am not allowed to go to the restaurant!! Basically I am banned from the restaurant but not the Hotel, I asked what the reason was and there was no answer. Are you kidding me!!! You don't want my business? for sure I'll take it elsewhere. Consistency, quality, and time has always been an issue, I deserve the same respect as a customer I am paying $$ for the food not getting it for free. Not sure what happened to "always provide the best customer service" and this is how you treat an ex employee?? I do not recommend the Capitol City Grill it's joke!!
Locally inspired, seasonally fresh!! Organically grown!! Highly trained staff!! NOT TRUE .. THE SERVER DIDNT EVEN KNOW.. LEARN HOW TO COMMUNICATE
If I could've left a negative review for sure they would've gotten a negative five...
Read moreOk, my review of Capitol City Grill. Before coming here, I read the reviews which were mixed with bad and good. My experience is also mixed. We came in, not very busy with only three other tables. The waitress sat us and asked for drinks. My lady ordered a hard cider and the waitress walked away without asking me for my drink. She returned before having the drink or drinks to say the bartender is running the lines. at which time I asked for a beer. Not sure why she didn't ask me the first time, but I'm use to being ignored being in a wheelchair but I don't know.. The menu was very limited but I ordered the BBQ ribs which came quickly. The sides of chefs choice was onion rings and potato salad. The potatoe salad was not good because it tasted like carrots. The ribs were delicious and it came out hot. The onion rings were from frozen so I don't give much kudos to the chef or cook. The decor is clean and very nice. Our table is a little wobbly and the wsit staff changed the TV channel to a movie and sat at the bar most of the time watching tv and talking...
