My wife and I decided we would try this restaurant for date night. We saw it had decent reviews in a few spots, so of course we were inclined to patron this establishment. This is a older, kind of rundown place, set between a couple businesses on the same cement strip. When we walked in, we were greeted with smiles in a seemingly friendly atmosphere. The young lady directed us back to the booth area to be seated. My wife went to sit down, fell IN the seat, bounced and headed towards the wall. Of course this was funny, she was laughing for 5 minutes after, but we should’ve taken that as a hint. The place had a very unappealing decor, but the horrible smell is what really set it off. It was like the type of smell you can’t get out of your clothes when you work in an old, greasy restaurant. Poor wife has a nose like a hound, she was a trooper. The waitress asked for our drinks, my wife asked for decaf coffee and was told “Um, yes we have coffee I think” and when she asked for sugar the waitress told her it was “Mexican coffee”, not knowing what that was we asked for a little sugar and cream on the side. The coffee came, although the cup was nearly floating in the saucer, to her delight it was already sweet and she added cream. It was pretty good! Halfway through her coffee she gets jittery. It’s not decaf 🤦🏻♀️ she can’t have but a teeny bit, if any, of caffeine. She sits through dinner all shaky and jittery. We ordered the Gordita and Steak Fajitas. The fajitas were excellent. Beautiful colors, flavorful. My wife went to add sour cream to her food, when upon opening it appeared chunky around the lid, watery and was warm. I asked the nice waitress if we could exchange those two for some cold sour cream. She returned with the same two we gave her, only stirred up. It was liquid and bubbly. She decided to eat the Gordita without and upon her first bite, the tortilla was not fully cooked and while it was to be a flour tortilla, it tasted an awful lot like corn and she’s not a fan of corn tortillas. She said it had a really funky taste. Inspecting the food, the chicken appeared old and dried out. There was zero moisture in it and had the look off chicken sat out overnight in a fridge without a cover. It was not appetizing in the least. She didn’t eat any of her meal and felt bad for the waitress so we just asked for a box instead and the check. It wasn’t the waitress’s fault, she was nice and did what she was supposed to. We tipped her $10 on a $30 check. We won’t be returning, but they were very nice. The best thing about this place was the plates the meals were served on. My wife liked them so much we bought one and the owner gave us another. $20 for two authentic fajita plates... not bad! We won’t be going back, but that’s just us. The fajitas were good and the coffee was decent, incredibly friendly...
Read moreI have ate there multiple times hoping that they were just having an off day/days.. But that’s not the case… ( The food is pretty good… ) The service though was very VERY lacking… Most of the times I’ve gone there they weren’t very busy and still you may have seen the waitress twice. Once to take your order and once to bring your food to you. Unlike most restaurants you don’t get chips and salsa you have to ask for it here. And then it doesn’t come out until the rest of your food comes out. Once they forgot the drinks.. They took our order, brought our food to us and I had to ask for our drinks.. (normally appetizers come out before your main course) not here… Then I had to track someone down for the check. They literally bring your food to you then forget about you. (even when they’re not busy) They were out of chips and salsa twice.(really?) There was no hand soap in the bathroom… I do my best to support small businesses like this but they need training or something…
