Pulling into the parking lot, at the back not the front where it was packed, there is a sign for valet but you don't have to use velvet. They make it seem that way, it's just a service so you can park back there without using the service.
We arrived and placed our name for for people for dinner. What was supposed to be a 30-40 minute wait which turned into over an hour on this Friday eve.
There are two sides, the actual restaurant and a bar side that's just appetizers and drinks. The side with appetizers is twice as large as restaurant area.
Surrounding the two areas is a like a bar seating but over looking the view on high bar stools with tables in middle.
We ended up sitting at the high stools (seat yourself) on outer edge and admired the wonderful view.
Waitress came (very casual) took drink orders and appetizer order. Alcoholic beverages and a calamari. I orders a vodka on the rocks with 3 olives.
Drinks came, dirty glasses and my drink no olives. Glass had stuck food I had to scrape with my nail and glassware was filmy.
Calamari came and it was fantastic. Mixed with deep fried peppers.
After over an hour wait we finally got escorted to our table. In the middle of restaurant but our total view was gone as we were surrounded by the high bar and stools people were sitting on.
We ordered our food. My fish tacos were boring and sloppy. Dropped a lot of juice every bite and spilled on myself. Menu said $12 but check said $14. I didn't worry about it.
Wife and friends ordered salad with scallops $24 wow! Not worth it. A little arugula a couple scallops and some chunks of bacon fat and a juicy egg fried on top, must be a fad. Another person opted for chicken and they said it was dry and she became a little sick in the stomach later.
When you sit in restaurant at a table all the ambiance has gone and it feels like your sitting in someone's back yard.
Tip: sit around edge in the appetizer section and have casual drinks and calamari. That's as far as I would go. By the looks of it, that's what that designed it for.
I may or may not go back the place is just ok. Wait staff were very nice especially Julie.
Bottom line: too expensive for what it was but casually drinks and apps and view great. Don't sit at tables, sit at counter around edge. You may have to ask someone to shift over.
BTW: Cash Only. Apparently they have 2 ATMs...
Read moreI was immensely disappointed in my experiance there. I took my family to The Deck on a Saturday night. They were very busy, which was promising. Took about 40 minutes to seat us, which is totally understandable, but that's also where the problems started.
We were seated at a table that still had the previous customer's drinks and dirty plates on it. The hostess took as many of the plates as she could and said she would be back for the rest and wipe the table down. She did not come back.
Almost 10 minutes after we were seated the waitress came over and I asked her for something to clean the table and get the remaining dishes removed. Took 2 trips for the young bus lady to finish it. That's how bad it was, for context.
We ordered and the appetizer came out fast enough but the guacamole was very bland. No seasoning, no garlic, no anything. It was avocado and tomatoes as far as we could tell. The chips were tasty though.
The rest of the food was barely average. The pineapple fried rice was mushy, low on flavor and high in grease. The fried shrimp were good, but my son's sandwich (prime rib and BBQ meat) came out with the meat cold in the middle. I'm not talking a little warm, fridge cold. When we told a waitress about it (hadn't seen the original waitress in a while at this point) they said it was supposed to be cold (not mentioned on the menu and cold BBQ and Prime rib seems... I dunno... a good way to get food poisoning?) Anyway, they took it back and said they'd make him a new sandwich with hot meat. The replacement never came.
I had to go to the bar and ask for the check. Paid, left, and will avoid the place like the plague. I recommend you do the same.
Maybe they had an off night, maybe this experiance is a fluke, but with all the competition in the area, I don't recommend giving them the chance to...
Read moreHorrible experience. Waitress was rude, almost as if it was a racial thing (I'm Asian and my husband Latin). We were with American friends but she only seemed rude to me and my husband. My husband and I both ordered fish tacos because the menu was super limited for being a restaurant on the water. They gave us a one sheet flyer for a menu, I thought it was just a lunch or special menu but nope, it's that limited. My fish was very salty, I mean it was crusted in salt. I saw that my husband wasn't bothered by his dish so I thought that maybe I was being too sensitive to the salt, so I kept eating and analyzing. Ultimately I couldn't eat anymore, I just couldn't. Out of curiosity, I asked my husband to try mine and he was taken aback at how salty it was. He said his was not as bad as mine, it was saltier than he'd like but nothing alarming. So I definitely got the bad end of the seasoning. When we told the waitress she was pretty dismissive and said "oh, sorry..." but like well what do you want me to do kinda way. Wish I had remembered her name.
Oh and not to mention we were there in the evening and as the sun went down, we were MAULED, completely mauled by mosquitoes. They were biting us everywhere even from underneath the mesh on the chair. They were hovering around us in our faces. I guess we sat near the marsh or something because we stayed at a local Airbnb down the street and didn't have any mosquito problems. Anyway, if you want to check out restaurants here Sea Level and Michael's are much better quality and have real a seafood menu on the water. The Deck is more like a porchside sit down for beer and drinks but don't come here if you're hungry. The service is horrible and even with the small menu the food in general was...
