I ordered takeout from here last night 2 baked haddock on the website it says nothing about sides so when I ordered i asked what they had for sides and ordered each dish with 2 sides right no not at all I was not informed the dinners come with mashed and broccolini which I don't care for, but when I went too pay it was $97 for 2 dinners 1 desert no apps very basic I'm almost fell over so now I have 2 dinners with 4 sides each like wtf a little communication goes a long way and it wasn't busy so I ain't hearing that and too top it off the fish was mediocre at best instead of the sauce poured over the fish it was in the bottom of the container making the fish soggy the broccolini mushy I was pissed and highly disappointed I don't mind paying for good food but it was a 50 meal for 100 and unfortunately for them the deck is in the same parking lot and the food is outstanding the service is 1rst class and I don't end up with 4 sides per dish I would have ordered an app not double potato and vegetables I'm sorry I don't like too be negative but that was a terrible experience and unfortunately we will not be back, we were excited too try the slip and I felt like I stepped on a banana peel I slipped alright by ordering takeout from here and I still tipped they can keep it I eat out 3 nights a week cuz of my job I get home too late too cook but it will not be here so choose wisely, nice enough people but I think the food was lacking and the service was a catastrophe due too sending me home with a farmers market I hope this helps other people so you don't way over spend on entry...

My wife and I had heard positive things about The Slip, so we came in on a Wednesday evening. When you dine out, you have the right to expect not just to be waited on, but to be attended to. The waitresses were nice, but not very attentive. It took too long for everything. We were given menus, and ordered our drinks. 15 minutes later, the drinks arrived. We ordered our dinners, and my wife asked if they could bring us some bread while we waited. "We don't have any bread, but I could bring you some oyster crackers." (All restaurants should have bread on hand) The crackers never came. After another 20 minutes, I arose and walked over to the waitresses and asked if I could have my chowder and my wife have her salad. After explaining that the salad usually came with her meal, I told them it was okay to bring it with my chowder. The fact that I had to get up and light a fire under the waitstaff, pushed the dining experience down. The place was virtually empty! The best part of my meal was the fact that my drink was well made. I was surprised by my Honey Soy Seared Yellowfin Tuna, as I did not expect it to be "just" seared and otherwise raw. Probably, my bad, but not enough information in the menu description in my opinion. Bottom line: Way too long a wait for drinks...not attentive enough and the food is overpriced. We left and commented to each other that we probably won't...

Delicious, flavourful , freshly cooked food. Lovely atmosphere and good service. Newly opened restaurant (Sept/Oct ‘24) over looking a boatyard and the Merrimack river with lovely views of Newburyport. But don’t let the ambience fool you into thinking that that is what this restaurant's trading on, its the food. A carefully complied menu of many sharing plates, about 8 ‘mains’ and similar number of ‘hand helds’ give ample choice for a kitchen to freshly cooked food thats paid attention to! I ordered a blackened salmon BLT served on a brioche bun. It had crispy, tasty, smoked bacon and the salmon was perfectly cooked. There wa a smattering of mayo and he brioche bun was soft and just the right density to hold together well. I also ordered crispy Brussels sprouts with a maple siracha sauce. I asked for the sprouts to be extra crispy and to go light on the sauce. Too many times in the past i’ve been disappointed at other restaurants by sprouts swimming in sauce. Not so here. A generous helping of crispy sprouts was presented next to my sandwich. Wonderful. Could have been a meal in itself. Just a whisper of the sauce. Lively. The other dish we ordered was an eggplant rollatini. Delicious. Soft eggplant in a crunchy crumb and filled with ricotta and mozzarella chesse. Soft melting warm and...

⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐ We hosted a luncheon for 25 at The Slip Lounge for my 14-year-old’s confirmation, and it was the perfect choice! One of the few spots in Newburyport that could accommodate us for a Saturday lunch in March, the private dining room felt both classy and cozy—upscale without being stuffy. The menu was ideal for a mix of teens and adults, with delicious options like a beautifully curated charcuterie board, an amazing shrimp and oyster platter, pork belly mac & cheese, smash burger sliders, chicken & waffles. The drink selection was also great for the adults. We also had a gluten-free guest, who had a nice menu selection to choose from. The service was impeccable—we even arrived early, and Chere reassured us with a smile, saying, “Don’t worry, we got this.” She was incredibly helpful in crafting the perfect menu. Highly recommend for a special gathering!

This past weekend I threw a surprise party for my husband at The Slip. My event coordinator, Chere, was super easy to work and everything went off without a hitch. The restaurant is beautiful with an upscale vibe, but Chere helped me keep the feel of the party super casual at my request. The private event space was just right for our group of around 45 people, the food was phenomenal (I chose a combo of sushi and some vegetarian/pescatarian apps), and the bar was well-staffed throughout the night. Chere was on-site for our event which was a huge bonus. If you’re searching for an event venue in the Newburyport/Salisbury area, I cannot recommend this place enough. A huge thank you to the entire team for helping us create memories.
