I live in the Avenues and have 2 coffee shops nearest to me. This one and Cafe on 1st. I go to this one because of the convenient drive thru, though I will never come here again. I ordered 2 drinks from them 1 black iced coffee with 2 espresso shots, and 1 iced coffee with (exact words) a smidgen of half and half. (I even made the hand gesture where you pinch your fingers to signify a small amount). Well, I then received 2 hot coffees... So I asked nicely to have them iced, knowing that it must be a mistake. I don't know what happened in the icing process but I ended up with one watered down coffee with barely any espresso (I know how its supposed to taste). and one watered down coffee with enough half and half to make a Starbucks customer blush. I got home and my girlfriend took a sip of hers and I took a sip of mine and both of us soured our faces. Imagine pouring 12 oz of hot coffee over a cup full of ice, dumping what coffee doesn't fit, and then replacing half of the coffee, now diluted by ice, with half and half. Well that's one drink. The other was a watered down coffee with what tasted like half the espresso I ordered AND PAYED FOR. And tipped $3 by the way. I decided that I would like to have the milk they gave me replaced with coffee and that it was worth taking a trip to do so. I drove BACK to the coffee shop and requested the 12 oz of iced half and half be remade into 12 oz of black iced coffee and then we could add half and half or milk at home. At that point the woman at the window, who's name I don't know, but who I believe may be the same girl other comments have complained about (short brown hair, vindictive attitude), flippantly took the cup of milk back and I watched as she filled a cup with ice and then poured hot coffee on top of the ice until I, yet again, received a watered down coffee. I know that this girl knows how to make an iced coffee, but for some reason she made it watery, even though I made it a point to be as nice as possible given the situation (and payed in full, and tipped very well). So she spitefully made a watered down, terrible coffee and didn't even offer any apology or concern for customer retention. Before reviewing I sat on this for a few days, just to make sure I wasn't complaining needlessly. After deliberating, I have opted to share my experience in hopes that who ever is in charge will not allow this to continue. From now on all of my local coffee purchases will be made at...
Read moreThis is the second time I’m writing this review because the review I left 3 days back was deleted. I had an EXTREMELY poor experience here with one of the baristas. I am a regular at the Salt Lake City Java Jos twice a day most days. I get a latte every morning and typically order a water cup with it because my water from home is not safe to drink. Chelsea, one of the baristas who has apparently been working there forever, left me an extremely condescending note on my water cup telling me to “consider getting a water bottle (:”. Emily the manager told me she asked Chelsea not to write the note on my cup yet she still did and Emily asked me the next day and apologized for Chelsea’s poor actions. SADLY, my first poor review was deleted that had the photo of the cup attached. Luckily, I was able to dig it out my my trash to write this review again. This is how Java Jo’s has treated an every day regular customer who has spend $100s of dollars here and always leaves a tip. I’m hurt and disappointed by this experience as I have only had positive experiences for my first year+ visiting this coffee shop. I have spoken to maybe of the gals that work as this location since who have all spoken to me about it and reassured me of the situation, but no doubt this was an extremely frustrating experience and my deleted review with no response is equally...
Read moreI've changed my rating of this location due to the customer service. I now go to the 13th east location instead before work, even though it's very much out of my way. I went here for a year or more and the staff are very standoffish, snotty and even rude at times. They complain a lot and sometimes are arguing with each other. I also heard them talking about me while they were making my drink. They were talking and scolding me almost about how I come there every day for coffee and how much money that would be. how true that is, however that is not something you should be looked down upon as a customer. Quite the opposite actually, especially when you often leave tips. I ordered the same thing each day and was given the same type of attitude. Judge me if youd like , but you're just hurting business. They had a turn over of employees at one point and the product started failing too. Maybe it was the employee dynamics. Just turning on to the street they are on, it started smelling like burnt coffee every day. Tasting like it too. I don't normally have bad things to say about businesses, I'm not picky. So it sucked that it got that way. It is in such a convenient location for me on the way to work. I cant give a one star only because I like the company as a whole, the owner doesn't...
