I am so confused right now because I spent a long time thoroughly reading reviews and looking at photos before I ordered from here. I hadnât eaten here before, and my go-to places (Takashi, Sapa, Kyoto) were all closed or unavailable. I know I have high standards when it comes to sushi, but this was beyond that. The food was horribly disappointing.
My 15-piece sashimi combo was an absolute disgrace. It smelled fishy, looked weird and there were specks of random out-of-place things that suggested the fish wasnât rinsed or stored/handled separately. The salmon almost made me gag, and it has this weird pink/red oily substance underneath it that got on the other surrounding pieces of fish, making them all taste gross and fishy. Oh and I was also very confused as to why the chef chose the types of fish that I received. It felt like they gave me the ones that they needed to get rid of because they were going bad or something. Just so disappointing! I tried each one once, and then my husband did the same. I included a photo of the sashimi that was leftover (we obviously didnât eat the rest)
The yakisoba was also gross. I had one bite and threw it away. I donât know how you mess up yakisoba, but it tasted like one of those cheap $1 microwaveable noodle bowls you can get at the grocery store. I order chow mein and yakisoba from restaurants all the time, and this is the very first time I have ever disliked it.
The miso soup and cucumber salad were decent. No complaints, but it also wasnât memorable.
The spicy tuna maki was pretty bland. Slightly fishy, not very spicy at all, but my husband didnât mind it.
The spicy scallop maki was actually pretty delicious (unfortunately the only thing I liked in my entire $100 order). But this definitely did not make up for the epic disappointment of the overall order.
I donât usually post reviews unless I feel like itâs something that needs to be said. All the raving reviews are hugely misleading if you are someone with high sushi standards. In my opinion, you can judge a sushi restaurant by the quality of its sashimi, especially if itâs a chefâs choice 15-piece platter! I legitimately do not understand why this place has good reviews. I am just beyond disappointed and actually kind of mad that I just wasted a ton of my time and money here.
And now, of course, 2 hours after this all happened, my stomach is...
Read moreThis is one of my favorite sushi restaurants in the world. I've been to sushi in a couple dozen different states in the US. I've gone to sushi in at least three countries. Outside of Seattle and California this is the best sushi I've had anywhere. The sushi is so good that even though we lived in Tooele County we would drive down to SLC every single weekend just to have lunch here. This went on for over a year and that's because this is the best sushi in all of the state of Utah.
If I can make a recommendation the miso is amazing, the Green Hornet roll is amazing, the Kill Bill Roll is amazing, and the Billy Billy roll is amazing. This was my go to order because it has one spicy roll so not too much spice and then the other two rolls give a good variety of flavors. If you want to try something new go for the Stuffed Shishito peppers, you won't regret it. The only roll I didn't like here was the Cobra Kai roll, and it wasn't because of quality it was just because that's not my thing. I've tried every appetizer on the menu and they're all delicious.
The service is fast and friendly. The food is prepared quickly so you're not waiting that long, and the food is of the highest quality. Their rolls are a perfect blend of rice and sushi. I've been to other places where you order a roll and it's like 80% rice. Not here, it's just the perfect balance. As a result, I went to my birthday here 2 years in a row to celebrate with my favorite restaurant.
Also, with the parking you can park outside of the lines to add an additional ~2-3 cars in the main row of cars.
I've moved out of state now, but every time I come back we always try to come here because it's...
Read morei donât usually write reviews but i feel this experience needs to be shared so the restaurant can do better. i never felt this caught off guard by a restaurant and was surprised our experience was this way after reading great reviews. my bf and i are understanding and respectful people, so to be treated this poorly by the staff was out of the ordinary as we never experienced this type of service before.
our visit was disappointing not just because of the long wait times, around 30 minutes for food and another 30 for the check, but because of the attitude and disrespect we experienced. our server, a woman who appeared to be in her 50s, rolled her eyes and scoffed when we asked simple questions about the menu. we were polite and genuinely trying to understand the options since we werenât very familiar with sushi restaurants. when i asked about the size of one of the entrĂŠes, she responded with attitude, saying âyeah i mean itâs big enough,â as if it were a bother to answer.
even though we stayed kind and understanding and still left a $20 tip hoping to show goodwill, the overall experience felt dismissive and unwelcoming. when i later asked other workers for the check, they looked directly at me, ignored me, and acted visibly annoyed even though i asked nicely.
not sure if the staff were having a bad day, but thatâs never an excuse to treat customers with disrespect. iâm sharing this not out of anger but in hopes that management takes it seriously. every guest deserves basic courtesy, respect, and a welcoming atmosphere, which was completely missing...
