If it was possible, I would not give this place a star. Being an Indian, it is tough to get good Indian food here in SLC. So when it is announced, that there is a new restaurant, obviously we drove 20+ miles to get to Rajwadi Pointe. This restaurant is inside the Clarion hotel ( nothing wrong with it though)
Went in, sat down and ordered drinks, but it never came (2 beers). As we were doing this, we saw the guy from the lobby pour water into the dishes that were currys (in various sabzi's continuing to speak in Hindi saying to his co-worker "let me mix water"). This was peculiar as this is not done in front of clients (at least that fore-thought should be there). Then, we picked up a few items to eat from the buffet and just tasted a little. Due to the water mixing and maybe due to the time this food was cooked, it was absolutely BLAND, or should I say really bad. We immediately talked to the wait staff and said that we cannot eat this food and are leaving.
We were asked by the guy in front lobby to pay $19.99 per person (we were 2 people), bringing the entire bill to $43+. I put my foot down that I would not pay for such bad food and bad practices, but then talked to total $20 payout. We decided to pay in the end. They finally understood what we were sharing as feedback and hence gave us the discount.
No one should go to eat here. We came out to support the restaurant but this is not the place to take friends and family. There are definitely better places in SLC to eat like "Chettinad House downtown", Saffron Valley, etc. AVOID THIS PLACE...
Read moreWe ordered a takeout from this place. We Stay in North Salt Lake and the restaurant is 25 mins from my place. My wife drove all the way to the restaurant, only to be told that our order has been taken by someone else from Uber-Eats. When asked about it, they refused to give us any information about who took the order and how did you guys give it to them if I ordered a pickup from your website and not through Uber-Eats. My wife had to come all the way back home and after my discussion with them on the phone about the food they finally accepted it was their mistake and promised a refund saying that they can prepare the same order again. However, after we drove back all the way again to the restaurant to pick up our food, we were told that we won't get a refund because they made the food again. The guy Tinku/Rinku at the reception had no clue what he was doing and had to go to the kitchen to talk to the chef to figure out if they can refund us. It didn't make sense for us to drive back and forth 4 times for a mistake not done by us and take the food. I said we don't want the food and just want the refund back. I asked to talk to a manager, but looks like there was noone around and he even refused to give me any contact. He eventually asked me to contact the website and reach out here for the refund. Reached out to them through the website and no one would respond. It was a horrible experience and I don't know of any restaurant that would make a mistake twice, accept it and then not reimburse...
Read moreDinner, Wed about 1900. No line, very few in restaurant. Menu had good selection and spread of dishes. Not great for keto or low-carb diets, all dishes came with rice or bread and I was unable to substitute something else like vegetables for less than $8 (added side dish only). I got the butter chicken curry. It was very good, good sauce, chicken was tender. However, for $18 the portion size was very small, especially considering I couldn't eat the rice it came with. Not a good value, just a curry sauce with about 1 thigh worth of chicken, no vegetables at all. I am sure this is how dish is made, I am only commenting on poor value for a small soup-bowl of low-cost food items. I am not an expert on Indian food, but this did seem tasty and well made. The waiters all seemed to speak some Indian language, Hindi?, which did make it hard to ask menu questions (he misunderstood when I said no rice after asking about substituting, and showed up with rice), but seems to indicate authenticity of the menu.
Waiter was attentive, courteous, and fast, great service.
Venue is ok and clean, but a standard hotel-restaurant or strip-mall look, nothing at all that says "Indian". Standard vinyl booths and plastic chairs, no decoration to speak of, not the sort of place you would want to take a date to impress... seemed like a truckstop diner inside. Not bad, but nothing...
