I'll start by saying the food is excellent. This place understands flavor.
This place is currently being reviewed poorly for other aspects of their business. You can order the rice bowl 5 consecutive days in row and get a wildly different experience each time. Sometimes everything is mixed together, other times it's all partitioned as if the rice being in contact with the meat or vegetables is a sin. If you arrive as a group, person A wants no onion and person B wants extra sauce, person A will get extra sauce and onions and person B will not get extra sauce. One day the fountain drinks are ok, the next the syrup is out or the "staff member that should be filling up the ice isn't here yet, would you like a can?"
Because the flavor was consistent, I didn't mind when I had an error with my order or it was made completely differently than the day before, because it always was tasty. Now with the change to their opening hours, I'm not sure if I will be able to continue going in. Many university employees love this spot for lunch, but cannot take their lunch after noon. And it's your business, you get to set the hours to what you need, that's ok.
My advice to you as someone who worked in restaurants of all varieties for over 15 years, is you need to be consistent. Consistent hours, consistent plating, just be consistent.
I tried to dine there today with a group of 4, at the same time we've been going for weeks, and we were told that there isn't enough business before noon to warrant opening. 2 employees inside, pretty sure one was the owner, and they're turning away a group of 4 because they don't get enough business? We've been going here 1-5...
Read moreIt is wonderful to have a European style Turkish doner restaurant in the University neighborhood. This is an option long missing from the area. I was pleasantly surprised with the chicken doner. It was fresh and flavorful. The portion size was generous - more than adequate for lunch. My only complaint is that the music was terrible. I know, know, music tastes are very personal. However, very few really want a steady stream of tired and cliche 80’s hits. Mainly, however, the music was much too loud. It was nearly painful to eat in. I would play some quiet Turkish or Pakistani music to set the correct ambiance for the place. I will be back for the food, but will get take...
Read moreFrom the moment we walked in, we were welcomed with warmth by an incredible staff who treat every guest like family. The energy was lively, yet they still gave us attentive, genuine care. We ordered both meats, and the most outstanding falafel either of us has every had. Every bite was unforgettable—the doner was overflowing with the freshest vegetables and a rich, flavorful sauce, while the meat itself was nothing short of perfection. This place doesn’t just serve food; it delivers an experience. Absolutely outstanding—don’t wait,...
