Señor Pollo Mexican Grill — Restaurant in Salt Lake City

This place is my new go to for local Mexican food. The value is great, an $11 plate of nachos can easily feed two people. The burrito was massive, had David loaded it into his slingshot, he could've easily killed Goliath.

The nachos were artful both in presentation and execution. The ingredients were perfectly balanced, with no one component coming on too strong. They worked together to create a delicious flavor that I will certainly be coming back for.

The building itself was also quite nice. The interior was clean and well decorated, and the music was nice but not too loud.

I found the service to be exceptional. They were very attentive, and made sure we were taken care of. They brought salsa out to us, and gave us a sample of their specialty chicken. Great food. Sadly I won’t return as the service I received when I went there was unjustifiable.

I walk in at 8:20. They close at 9. The kid working tells me that I can’t eat in the lobby. He is in a bad mood and you can easily tell. Sure I get it if you want to close the lobby early, but maybe tell it a bit nicer?

When I receive my food I ask if I can get some extra salsa and the worker responds with “there’s salsa in there” and turns around. Uh I wasn’t asking if there’s salsa. I want extra salsa.

Then I get home and they forgot to give me my Mac salad. I ordered 3 things, a burrito, #1, and Mac salad. They couldn’t even remember 3 items in an order.

There was an overall bad mood with the employees and they heavily pushed it onto the customer experience. I don’t care how good your food is, I don’t want to go somewhere that treats me like...

Wow. Out of just about every restaurant I have ever reviewed I gotta say Senor Pollo might be number one. Without a doubt they have absolutely mastered chicken. Nothing in the valley compares and then top that off with delicious beans and rice, fresh grilled jalapenos and onion and I went from barely hungry to absolutely drooling over every bite. Oh and there salsas are actually to die for. I'm from Las Cruces New Mexico and have tried dozens of not hundreds of salsas in my life and theirs is up there with the b st of them.
