I’ve been into Halfmanns twice recently and I can’t say either experience was positive. The first experience was when a man was working. All I wanted was a graduation cake made for my daughter. He had a condescending attitude the entire time and talked to me like I was stupid with snarky remarks… ended up smelling alcohol on his breath so that completed the picture for me on how this experience went. I will give credit where it is due, the cake that I wanted turned out great! However, I went back in again a few days later to try some of their other sweet treats and the woman that was working was absolutely disgraceful. She had an attitude the second I walked in the door, rolled her eyes multiple times when I asked questions and was overall unpleasant to be around. It’s like I was a burden being in her presence. I kept a nice attitude the entire time but I will not be going back again. And based off of the other reviews on this place, it seems I am not the only one with these issues. Word of advice: keep an eye on how your employees are treating your customers when the boss isn’t around. Being kind is just not that difficult. I hope to see improvements in the employees because I would love to go back for some treats, however I cannot justify spending my money where I feel like an...
Read moreApparently what I asked for and what I sent in an email (of how I wanted the writing) were two different cookies.. so therefore it couldn't be done? Even though I already knew what cookie I paid for, I was just sending in how I wanted the writing. I received cookies that were poorly written on, and a cake that was poorly written on as well. IT'S ABOUT THE WRITING. I had to say that again because on my Facebook review they are making it seem like it was over pricing and how I wanted to "tone things down" but not once did I ever say "this is my budget". I asked for a small cake for a ONE YEAR OLD, that we were going to use as a smash cake. And a dozen cookies. Even going in to discuss everything I felt rushed and the guy we spoke to was very passive aggressive for whatever reason? Everything was "too much detail" or "that takes a long time to do" or "that color isn't going to work" or just seemed to blow it off as if it was a waste of time. As if me going in my street clothes equals how much money I have in my bank account. I used to get cakes for parties here all the time but if this is how business is now then I guess I can match the aggressiveness and leave...
Read moreI have very fond memories of Halfmann's delicious product from 15 years ago when I was in high school. However, just this past weekend my mother and I felt very unwelcomed during our visit. After being greeted upon entering the shop by a "we're closing soon" despite arriving half an hour before the indicated closing time, we hurriedly browsed over the pie section. We required information over an unlabelled pie and after asking what I considered the very sensible question of "what's in it?" received a combination of rude facial expressions and a curt response. We were caught off-guard by the rudeness of the staffwoman attending us and paused a bit before deciding to leave without purchasing anything. I had heard from others that the service at Halfmann's is not great but having experienced this first-hand confirms the rumors. We will definitely not be returning to...
