Decided to try them, over their competitor across the street.
This is for future customers who want a description of my experience as it may assist with deciding on where to eat.
First of all, walked in, little to no hospitality. No “welcome in” no “is this your first time here” etc. but , eh fine. Not a huge deal.
The lady at the counter took my order and the first thing I noticed were the prices. Admittedly, they are a bit high for what you’re getting. I say that because the meals don’t come with fries or a drink. So you can get a $20 meal and not get fries or a drink with it. YIKES. Instead you get breadsticks and veggies. lol
I decided to get tenders meal as opposed to the wings.
I placed my order and it cost about ($17) after adding $3.95 fries to the order (come on, $4 for some fries?)
As I am sitting there watching the counter, I noticed an add that says $1 wings everyday from 2-6…. I’m immediately thinking wait a minute?? Why didn’t she tell me that! I could’ve gotten the same number of wings for a lesser price?!
I went up to the counter and inquired -btw the cashier was sitting there watching videos on her phone, simply unprofessional and silly, if you’re that bored find something to clean.
I inquired about my initial thought and sure enough, YES. I could’ve gotten a better deal. LOL now I’m a little annoyed because why isn’t she mentioning that to people? Why run a special you don’t plan on proactively offering .
After inquiring about the $1 special she responded “have you been here before?”
I said “no?” Confused.
Her response “the owner recommend to try it out first if you’ve never been here”
Is that true? The owner isn’t confident enough in the food that he wants people to try it out first on a smaller portion before getting larger portions? I seriously hope not.
Anyways, I ended up getting lesser food for more money because the cashier -nor the cook knew how to process a return. They said they would have to call “Javier” for help…. Ridiculous for grown adults to be improperly trained on basic POS functions.
Oh well, if you’re still reading, just go to wingstop or canes. I’d love to support new businesses but these mistakes make it...
Read moreI had my first time experience with Epic Wings in SA today and it was amazing all around. I ordered a 48 pack wings with 8 tenderloins (boneless wings) for a get together. I was told it would be about 20 min wait time (which surprised me, I expected a long 40-45 min wait time, huge plus off the start). The cashier at the front was super nice and friendly , regrettably did not get his name. I stepped outside for a bit and came back in to finish waiting where it was cooler, and was approached by the owner/manager Javier who was generous and kind and welcomed me and he was kind enough to include some bread to my order! Im not generally a lucky person but today made my day with their service. The food overall is quite amazing, I did not have any set expectations but the pictures on the menu looked good. The chicken wings are well cooked, soft and juicy with a nice light crunch. The size of the chicken was quite great, their supplier has great quality. I thought it might be on the small size like most places get but they get full sized meaty chicken. The medium buffalo sauce has a good solid kick, to my liking, its not too hot to hurt and not too mild to not notice. The lemon pepper ones threw me off a bit, usually with dry rubs you get more dry chicken , but both the wings and tenderloins were juicy all the way through and it was packed full of flavor. The batter isnt too heavy or greasy to leave that uncomfortable feeling after. I will definitely be going back , and to anyone who is looking for a good wing place - this is...
Read moreI recently relocated from San Diego. One of my favorite places for the best honey bbq strips was epic wings; so when I found out there was one here in San Antonio I was over the moon with excitement. I didn't care if it's on the other side of town I was on a mission to get the food I had been missing from back home. I ordered my usual. It was 9:12pm and I was told 10 minute wait. It took twice that amount of time for my food to be done. Now if the food tasted like It should've it would be understandable. When I got home and took a bite I was beyond disappointed. You see the thing about these strips is they are marinated but they are supposed to have a little bit of crispness to them. To be honest the food I was given I feel like it had been reheated or something. It was gross-all mushy no crisp. I am so beyond disappointed because I've never had an issue ever with the quality of epic wings back home even if I called an order in minutes before they closed-I got the same service and the food was always on point. I'm calling corporate about this because this Texas location is an epic fail as far as I'm concerned. Well back to the drawing board for me on finding a place in San Diego that has tenderloin strips like epic wings cuz the epic wings here were not anything like they...
