This is the only Fred's Fish Fry I've ever been to. The onion rings and fries are great. I could eat the onion rings every day and not get tired of them. The fried fish leaves quite a bit to be desired. It tastes okay, I guess, but the fish sticks are tiny, and the "fish sandwich" was like a credit-card sized piece of rectangular fish, two centimeters thick, on two slices of white bread, with no dressings and no sauce. It was $2.35, and I'm guessing the food cost for that sandwich was somewhere around 25 cents, to overestimate. I would have happily had a fish sandwich from anywhere else. As for decor, I'm always a sucker for the vintage booths and old-school feel. But I'm sure they didn't leave it this way for a nostalgic feel. On my first trip here, I got great service from the lady working, and got just enough ketchup and tartar sauce for my food. The second time, with two ladies working, I was given no sauce and no napkins, and was practically ignored...
Read morethey make your food to order which can cause a waiting time which can make the wait time worse when someone else has to get their order first. the cheapest things are the 99 cent items and anything after that is over priced. the water in a cup is free. they don't always use gloves when handling the food and the place feels like a prison cafeteria. the prices are ridiculous and I feel that they don't offer enough variety on their menu at a respectable price. I feel like upper management is severely holding the fish and sea foods potential back with the marketing strategy its currently using. I came across the sex monkey boyfriend who was and probably still is having sex with the manager of the place and he was bragging to me about how he had sex with her the night before so I made the joke of saying, "oh, did she at least give you a discount" after he bought some food from the place and we both laughed our ass off and...
Read moreI hadn't been here in years so decided to stop in at the drive thru and compare it to my other favorite casual seafood spots. I ordered the seafood platter #2, an order of their tarter sauce, and a side of jalapenos. The seafood platter is 3 square fish filets, 2 fried shrimps, 2 slices of white bread, french fries, a tartar sauce packet, and a lemon wedge. Unfortunately, they forgot my tartar sauce, disappointing because I paid extra and because I remember it having a good flavor that the packet of tartar sauce that comes with the fish can't compare to. Overall, the fried shrimp was bland and the batter kind of gritty. The fish was good, especially after adding the jalapeno and lemon wedge. I think I'll stick to Sea Island from now on but Fred's Fish is decent for drive thru...
