Short review: if you're craving Golden Chick this will do, but it won't be you're best GC experience and I'd 100% recommend not eating inside.
Full review: First impression of eating inside is that it wasn't busy at all for noon and that it looked nice. Tin ceiling, ample seating, no line. But, the illusion didn't last, after giving my order and having the food come out really fast, the experience went downhill. The food: everything tasted like it was made an hour before and sat under a heat lamp. An hour is generous, it could have been when the restaurant opened for the day honestly. The food wasn't bad, I love GC, but the quality is like leftovers at the price of fresh. Service: the folks in the back were working hard, possibly understaffed even, they were running around like crazy for a restaurant with only a few people in it. The cashier didn't add the spice that I requested and gave me dirty looks when I went to the counter to ask for it. When I've gone through the drive through, they've been friendly and fast. Cleanliness : this is where the issues started, the area for condiments was filthy. I mean, it looked like it hadn't been wiped off since the day before. There was a tamale sitting on the counter and they don't serve that food. It sat there the whole 45 mins I was there. Out of order/ran out: they were out of sverral drinks and they stated they didn't have anymore. It's 2024, I doubt this is a supply chain shortage. One was unsweetened tea and they had sweet tea so that didn't even make sense. They also were out of ice cream. At noon! And there was no signage anywhere indicating what was or wasn't available.
Another note, and this didn't affect my rating but something the owner might keep in mind. The ice cream cones have nothing as a barrier from hand contact. So, for example, the person who didn't wash their hands can easily touch all the cones just trying to get one out of the container. From the beginning of my order the lady on the intercom was very impatient, asking over and over if I was ready to order when I kept specifying that I was looking over the menu. I received my order with no decent customer service as she, again, impatiently through my order in a bag and gave it to me with what appeared as an attitude. Although that gave me a bad taste in my mouth that was not the reason for this review. Once I got home and started to eat I noticed small pieces of black hair in my chicken tender batter. It appeared to resemble some sort of beard hair or short hair. I have blue hair and so did my friend who ordered with me so I knew it was not from me and it showed consistently in my food. Disgusted, I called the store and requested to speak with the manager. The lady I was speaking with advised she was the manager, Toranda. I then explained that there was hair in my food. She unprofessionally argued with me advising that the only cook had blonde hair and that it was from me. I’m not sure how this person was hired as a manager as they clearly did not know how to handle an official complaint. She then advised that if I can’t brkng in the food to show then there is, “nothing she can do”. Read moreROACHES IN THE FOOD. I bought a family meal yesterday on my lunch break. Fed it to my 4 year old and ate some myself. When I got off that evening I had another helping and noticed a small dark something in my potatoes. As I picked around it with my fork, it turned out to be the back end of a roach! I was beyond disgusted and called right away and spoke to the night manager Brandi who was very nice and apologetic and not a part of the crew that served me this meal. She refunded the portion of my payment that I paid by card. I paid the other part in cash so she told me I had to come in the following day to get the rest of my refund and speak to the GM who would be there in the morning. When I tell you the GM didn’t even have the decency to come to the counter and say “hi”, “sorry about this”, nothing. No one in the store today apologized for this experience. I understand they were busy and understaffed but it would have literally taken a minute. They did refund me but nothing else. No gift certificate for the inconvenience for making me drive back up here, waste my time, or serving me food with bugs in it! This is not the first time this location has messed up.
