This week is our first Family Vacation with our children, so we wanted to try places that we don't get to experience back in our city. So, besides the awesome Riverwalk experience, we decided to try Jim's since it is next door to the hotel we're staying at. Plus, we don't have one in Dallas as mentioned before.
Okay... The Plus: Jim's reminds us of a Dennys as far as set up (my wife actually believes it used to be one), but the food tasted more home-cooked rather than the generic taste that we can get elsewhere. So that part was perfect.
The negative: We weren't welcomed in like most places with southern hospitality. We were just told to sit anywhere. Once we sat, a waitress walked to our table, stood very close to where we really couldn't see her face right away, then said, "What are y'all having to drink?"
My wife looked at her and asked for her name. The waitress quickly said, "*", then proceeded to take our drink orders. From what we know based on experience, common sense, and restaurant job requirements, you are supposed to speak and introduce yourself to the customer(s). You must also welcome them when they come into your establishment because you represent the cooks in the back. If you aren't welcoming, friendly, or anything positive, how are people going to expect the rest of the staff to be that way, especially the cooks to be that way?
That is the only thing that would make us not want to return. As out of town guest (which we mentioned that to her too when we couldn't decide on food), we should have felt welcomed. And that's even if we...
Read moreJim's on Huebner and I-10 just lost my business. My wife likes your pancakes but they are not essential. One of the purposes of ordering take out is to not have to cook because you are tired on a Friday evening. I ordered and picked up my order and when I got home it was incomplete. I immediately called and explained what happened and the man who answered acknowledged that Jim's made a mistake and he told me I could go drive and pick it up or get a credit for the item that was missing so I could get it another day. Driving again to pick it up would simply delay enjoying the item even more so I asked for a refund. I was told I needed to speak to a manager for that. The same person that handed me the food at the restaurant was "the manager" and I explained what I wanted, a refund. I was in no mood to drive again to Jim's for the missing item and I did not want to get it another day. So she said she could not do that and that only a district manager could do that. I implied that if she was authorized to take my money when I picked up the order, she should then be authorized to refund my money when a mistake is made by someone at Jim's. I explained that she could give me a refund or have the item delivered to my address. She said she could not do that, kept mouthing unintelliglble talk and hung up. Since when does a restaurant refuse to refund your money when it made a mistake not giving you your complete order? I will go tomorrow into the premises and I know I will...
Read moreWhen I walked into the restaurant, there is an older bald waiter. He looked at me with an extremely annoyed look and said "can I help you?" I was stunned by how annoyed he sounded. I said to him I"'m here to eat." There were two waiters in the restaurant and only three tables, not counting myself. He told me to sit at any table that wasn't dirty. I waited well over 15 minutes and neither one of the wait staff even asked me what I wanted to drink or what I wanted to eat. I was extremely dissatisfied with the service and called the corporate office and left a voicemail with the district manager. Waited about another 5 minutes, still nobody came to take my order or ask me what I wanted to drink. On the way out, I told this man that I already called the corporate office, but before I could finish he interrupted me. I told him to stop interrupting me and let me finish. I then finished explaining to him that I already called the corporate office and left a message with his district manager and that he can expect to talk to them soon. He continued to get flippant with me by sarcastically asking, "oh well is it my turn to talk now?" I told him I wasn't willing to talk to him at that point to which he replied make sure you don't come back". I'm normally pretty patient when it comes to bad service, but this dude was blatantly flippant and very disrespectful. As soon as I left I called the corporate office a second time to tell them about the extreme level of...
