La Playa Ice Cream Shop — Restaurant in San Antonio

This is a hidden gem right in the Bandera Festival Shopping Center. A must visit snack shop if you’re in the area. Especially on a hot day like usual here in San Antonio! It’s right next to the Dollar Store. They have an array of ice cream to choose from. You can get a scoop or make it a shake. The variety of paletas to choose from is unreal! I really liked how they had them all listed out for you. They even had Agua frescas. You can get a regular or a large. I had a watermelon and cantaloupe mix. I drank it so fast I forgot to take a picture of it but at least I got a pic of the pepino and limon! It too was delicious. Full of flavor and overall good quality. There is open seating. It is a well lit shop and very welcoming. This family owed place brings an authentic feel like you’re right near the beach and can pop in and cool down while grabbing a quick drink or snack. We also tried the Tostitos preparados. Could not believe that had all the fixing here to include cueritos!!!! Amazed!!! One order was enough to share with 2-3 people. Visiting TX in Dec and I’m from Chicago not used to this warmth during this time. Was out shopping and really craving something refreshing to drink or eat. Found this little place while looking for parking and decided to try. Got a drink they call “Rusa” Russian and it was so refreshing loved the sparkling water and fruit in the drink.
