It's always a little disconcerting when you stop into a restaurant "cold turkey" without having performed the due diligence of reading any available reviews on the food and ambiance, but here we were. A spontaneous decision brought about by late morning hunger to stop and try this little place that I had passed by too many times to count over the years found us seated in this cozy little spot with bric-a-brac laden walls and at some point leaky roof with spotted roof tiles that you see in so many of the older mom & pop shops around town.

The young waitress was as friendly as she could be while taking and serving our order of breakfast tacos and side of potatoes. It was a late Friday morning that was lightly busy, but certainly not crowded. As we sat there, a fruit vendor with a store just down the way stopped by our table and we bought a delicious looking fruit cup. We had a go at it while we waited for our tacos and the fruit was just too good. We tried to catch the vendor in the parking lot to buy another, but he had already left. Darn!

Meanwhile, our tacos were delivered. They have quite an extensive selection of breakfast tacos here and one that was supposed to be served with gravy. What?! I ordered country (sausage) and egg and was asked if I wanted it with gravy. I had them put it on the side and it was delivered in a bowl along with our potato side order. Thinking it was for the potatoes I dipped a chunk in the light red concoction and popped it into my mouth. Wow! It was a smokey (probably from the bacon in evidence) tasting, thicker than water, liquid, not greasy, with mild flavors that I could not readily identify. Teriffic! I suddenly realized this was the gravy that was supposed accompany my country and egg taco, so I poured it on. That was the "icing on the cake"! Made me want to pour it on everything.

I have tried quite a few breakfast tacos across town including such greats as Taco Taco, Rolando's, Torres Taco Haven, Mary-Lou's, Nicha's and literally dozens of other restaurants and molinos. Considering the excellence of the flour tortillas, the quality of the ingredients, the amount of the serving, the accompanying salsas and the price, I would wager that these are some of the best tacos you have ever tasted. The kitchen really knows what they are doing here with breakfast tacos.

The old neighborhood coziness of the place, the just plain good food and the inexpensive prices will have me coming back though I live on the other side of...

Ok, I went here last Thursday and had a good experience. 4 to 5 stars. Went back today with wife. Restaurant was barely full. Plenty of tables but still dirty. No space at diner counter. Hostess said, 25 minute wait. Place was empty almost. I work and on lunch hour. I drove from downtown to eat here. Told my wife, I sat down at counter right away and food came out in less than 10 min. But this time hostess at 11:30 didn't have a care in the world. Rude. I was looking forward to another good experience and dining. My wife was as well. I sent her picture of hot turkey sandwich. She was looking forward to having this. I was looking forward to the breakfast and bisquit. I don't know about this place. Why aren't they staffed by bussers and waitresses at lunch time? Is that poor management? I think hostess training is required or looked at. As we were walking out another waitress came up and asked but hostess said, something to her. Hostess never came out from behind the podium. Looked like glad to see us leave. As we were walking out a couple walking in and asked us, are they that busy. No, just poorly staffed and a 25 minute wait. They walked in looking...

If I could find anything less than a star, I will use it. Worst place to order food. This lady at the register always overcharges me for Sausage and egg taco at $2.99 instead of $2.89 when paid in cash. Yesterday, another staff member charged me $2.89 cash for same taco. Today, I walked in there and she took my order and charged me $2.99. Immediately, I told her I was charged $2.89 for same taco and now she charges me $2.99. She became furious and angry towards me for no reason. She went and looked at the menu in front of me and adjusted the price. I asked her, how about all these weeks I have been paying 10c extra every day I walked in here, she pounced on me with name calling, racial slurs and asked me not to come in here. I just found out that she’s not a manager nor owner. She needs to be terminated immediately or she will get hurt if she continues like this with other people. Please do NOT order...

This cozy spot has become a favorite for my boyfriend and me over the past year. The food is consistently amazing, and the warm, friendly service makes every visit special. We love exploring the menu, and while everything has been delicious, our go-to favorites are the chocolate chip pancakes and any taco they whip up—they nail it every time! The variety here is impressive, offering hearty, flavorful dishes for any craving. We’re lucky to often have Ashley as our server—she’s truly fantastic. Not only does she remember our drink preferences, but her attentiveness makes us feel genuinely cared for, no matter how many times we visit. It’s such a treat to dine at a family-owned restaurant where familiar faces greet you at the door. If you haven’t been yet, do yourself a favor and check it out—you won’t be disappointed!

Wonderful and unexpected place to get a great lunch! What seems like a hole in the wall place, seems to be where I find the most flavorful food and experience! The staff are super friendly and welcoming! Fast service and a great meal! The chips were crispy, salsa was well balanced and not overpowered with cilantro like most places! I ordered the Mexican plate and chose chicken enchiladas and double crispy tacos! The tacos stayed crispy throughout the meal and never got soggy like most do, the enchiladas were filled with flavorful chicken! Definitely got my money worth! Tortillas were outstanding and in my top 3 of best in San Antonio!

We have been here during the week and it's crowded since they share a parking lot with a Dr.'s office and other businesses. But today was Sunday at 10:15 am, I did not expect an available table and was not looking forward to a wait. The crowd did not show up until 10:30, we snuck in before the after church rush!!! As always, Oblate Cafe delivered. The food was great. The Carne Guisada was tender and delicious. The chilaquiles and migas were eaten in a flash. Now the tortillas had to be the best I've tasted outside of a relatives kitchen. Come hungry!
