We visit this restaurant at least once or twice a month because the food is consistently good. However, the host and their seating arrangements leave much to be desired.

The restaurant has a sign at the front instructing customers to wait to be seated and to sign in on the waiting list, either with the host or through Yelp. We always use Yelp to sign in and get notified when our table is ready. This time, we received a message that our table was ready, so we got in line to inform the host.

As we reached the front of the line, a couple cut in front of us and told the host they had a reservation for six. The host informed them that their table wasn’t ready and they would need to wait 15 minutes. However, just as this conversation ended, another employee informed the host that a table had just opened up, and surprisingly, the host gave that table to the couple she had just told to wait. We were left standing there, wondering what just happened.

While we continued to wait, another person bypassed the line and went straight to the cashier station to speak with the host. She immediately seated that party as well. By this point, we had been waiting for over 10 minutes just to speak with the host about our table that was supposed to be ready. When we finally got her attention and voiced our concerns about the situation, she became defensive, claiming those parties were on the waiting list. But so were we—and our table had been ready for 10 minutes according to the text message we received.

This is not the first time we've encountered such poor treatment at this establishment, and it seems it won’t be the last. The host’s behavior was both unprofessional and disrespectful to customers who were patiently waiting their turn. Instead of acknowledging the issue, they made us feel as though we were in the wrong for bringing it up, as if they were doing us a favor by allowing us to dine there. As long as they keep this behavior, customers are going to keep cutting the line because they know they will be served.

We were so frustrated that we left with our kids and decided we won't be coming back. It's a shame because we do enjoy the food, but the lack of respect for their customers is...

Oh my goodness!!!!! I was craving a good mole and found this gem on google maps. The reviews were all good so we decided to break away from the typical downtown restaurants that are overcrowded. This place did not disappoint! It was a true Meccan restaurant, there’s nothing Tex Max here. When we sat down they brought us chips and two different salsas also a refried bean dip. It tasted like there was chorizo in there and it went great with the chips. The chips are the thicker type, not the flimsy ones so they’re good at holding all that your heart desires for toppings. We tried the enmoladas served with rice and frijoles refritos, the chicken inside was very tender and full of flavor and the mole sauce was a little on the sweeter side but with a small kick in the aftertaste. The quesadillas were so LOADED with cheese that my son said he was in heaven while eating them. The café de olla is what drew us to try this place and it is now our favorite way to drink it, I will have to learn to make it since we don’t live anywhere near this restaurant. We also had the pollo asado and it came with tortillas from maíz that we’re homemade….sigh…so much deliciousness and of course frijoles charros and rice. The last dish we tried were the five shrimp tacos, sadly I did not get to try even one because my son finished his entire place, originally he said he would share but he said they were just amazing and decided to eat them all! The concha’s were the last item we ordered and they were WARM, served with nata and a warm chocolate milk in a small bowl. The whole visit was a pleasant experience, the place was clean and the server was very helpful answering questions. Y’all…..do yourself a favor and put on some stretchy pants or a loose dress and pay this place a visit. You will be so happy you did. On our next trip I’d love to come and try their breakfast 😍 pictured is the Cafe de Olla…we dug right in when our food came so I forgot to...

This place is so good! Went here for the first time a few Saturdays ago for lunch. We watched the annular solar eclipse in the parking lot with lots of other patrons before going in. Their food was outstanding. They have the good fried tortilla chips that are served with 2 salsas & a bean dip. We were starving, but also it was delicious. I got their chicken & cheese enchilada verdes plate - yummy! He ordered the carne asada plate, but was brought a carne tostada (language barrier mishap). It really wasn't a bit deal because he loved it. Unfortunately, neither of us speak fluent Spanish & our server didn't really know English (not the reason for service 4 stars - it's a MX restaurant in SA, so it wasn't unexpected). They were very busy when we arrived, but we were seated right away. After that our service wasn't so great. It took over 5 min for someone to come with menus & take out drink order & that was only because we started looking around to catch someone eye. Our server was very nice, but a little distracted. It looked like she was busy, but we almost never saw her. Our glasses were empty a lot & it took a long time for her to take our order & then check in on us afterward, including bringing our bill. I was trying to catch a flight, so I got a little nervous that I wasn't going to make it. It all worked though. I 100% recommend this restaurant regardless of the delayed service. I think it was a one-off that happened. It was packed in there and everyone was very happy. The food was delicious & well...

You need to get here immediately. The food is amazing. Update at the bottom. They have a coffee called Cafe de Olla that is AMAAAAAAAZING. I will go back just because of that. It's coffee with cinnamon and something else. Whatever it is, it's magical. It's super delicious. I didn't even need to put cream or sugar. The papas con chorizo and cheese were delicious, and the papas were made right. Man, that is hard to find. Everyone undercooks them, and there no seasoning. These were perfect. The barbacoa was delicious, not greasy. The egg and cheese tacos were yummy. The tortillas were homemade and fresh. Then you can top off the meal with an order of mini conchas. They are warm and soft. They bring it with a bowl of Mexican cocoa and homemade whip cream. It was sheer perfection. Update 01/22/2023: I went back yesterday. I didn't realize that you are charged each time they refill your cafe de olla. The first time I went, my brother in law treated us, so I didn't see the bill (thanks BIL!). At $4.50, a pop that adds up quickly. The waiter didn't mention it, and it's not on the menu. I didn't fight it since I didn't ask either. In the future, I will be more aware of that, though. It won't stop me from going back! 12/03/2023 update I have gone a few more times and wasn't charged for refills of Cafe de Olla.

The servers make or break the restaurant. When welcomed and hosted with kindness and a smile, you feel the love of the food. This was not the case. Not sure if this place is over hyped bc it’s advertised for its authentic style of cooking and plates or people are too kind to small places. The food portions are good but that’s about it. Food tasted bland. We had to ask for salt and pepper since they didn’t have any on the table. Only 4 tortillas for queso flamiado when you’ll need about 8-10 to finish the portion served. The potatoes were raw and too hard to bite into. The chilaquiles were overly drenched in sour cream. But they were crispy (only good thing since I like that texture) The torta was ordered plain but not enough meat put into it. I think management needs to elaborate on how to treat the guests and table services. “If you are arms length away check on guests.” As a previous server, that was many of our motto conquering that 5 star service. Our server Ceci checked on us to give our food but lack on serving us our refills. Another reason why the food felt bland. Never was welcomed in by her. Jus got our ordered and kinda disappeared. We asked the front girl for assistance and she also lacked serving us refills or getting help for us. For spending $120+ highly do not recommend.
