First of all, a reservation here via Open Table, is not an actual reservation. You may still have to wait. We had to for about 15 minutes. We went for Mother's Day lunch. It was busy and that was expected, however our "reservation" was just a line jump to be "next" behind people who arrived first (with or without reservations.)
Secondly, the attentiveness was below what I would have expected, but being Mother's Day, the servers were extremely busy. However, that doesn't excuse simple oversights such as no straws when delivering drinks.
My order was a Seafood Trio, which was nice. However, it was incorrect. I ordered it with spaghetti instead of vegetables, however it came with vegetables. Not that big of a deal, but before I could say anything, the person who came to deliver our food had sat all the plates down and taken off already. Not even a question as to if it was right, if we needed anything else, or anything other than distributing the food and taking off. So while everyone else was digging in, I had to wait until our server came back around. The issue was promptly corrected, after waiting a few minutes to find our server but that's not all. The seafood trio was all fried. It was a crab stuffed shrimp in a croissant with sauce on top. Not bad. However, both the regular shrimp, and the scallops that made up the remainder of the trio were fried (lightly.) No mention of this was made on the menu or by the server when mentioning the dish. I enjoy scallops, but it was a shame to see them fried. There was no reason for it. The presentation looked great, but in practice, someone should tell the chef/owner that this isn't Long John Silvers.
Also, don't bother to order a salad here. The salad is literally romaine lettuce with caesar dressing and very small croutons. My mom, who had a "house salad," had a mix of lettuce with dressing as well. However it was not a "salad." No carrots, tomato, olives, onions, etc., that one would normally consider to be on a salad. Definitely not worth the up charge if not included with the meal. Which also brings up the issue of price. While I realize it was not going to be an inexpensive affair, I do not feel like the value proposition was worth the expense. I don't need to be waited on hand and foot. However it would have been nice to have a bit more attention, even on a busy Mother's Day. Especially considering the cost. I'm sure this isn't the first time they've been this busy, since they literally have Mother's Day every year. Not sarcasm. With Father's Day coming, maybe consider taking dear old dad elsewhere. I'm not sure if they added extra tables or not, but it also seemed very cramped in there with tables on top of each other. I realize while it maybe a popular place, it does nothing for atmosphere, or noise level, and caused some anxiety for one member of our party. Additionally, for a place that gets as crowded as it was on special occasions, there was a general lack of parking, as well as a lack of standing/seating room. Again, when you don't have "true" reservations and have to wait, it would be nice to not have to wait outdoors, in the hot sun, with your elderly mother on Mother's Day. We managed, but I think we all decided that while the food was good, coupled with the disappointing service, it wasn't good enough to detract from all the shortcomings. Consider somewhere else if you're looking to impress. At least for this location, it was underwhelming and...
Read moreWent to Paisano’s in Lincoln Heights, in SA. Tx. ;reserve for party of 12, gave the name our party would be under at 5 PM Sunday, five of us checked in at 5 pm. They Took us to our seating the table was up against the 2 walls,, we politely asked to be be seated in the main dining room because the seating for the table was incomprehensible being blocked up by two walls and would be difficult for guest to get in or out of that area. And they were very accommodating because they weren’t busy at that time. we were still expecting the other seven people to arrive,, our server was great and very attentive , the rest of our party should’ve been there soon so we ordered appetizers for the table. Let’s get the party started .. Paizanos has the best calamari in the world. still waiting on our other seven guests. 25 minutes later people are starting to arrive and the restaurant is filling up. It’s a bit noisy so I didn’t hear the Bing on text.We waited for 40 minutes finally, my cousin called, is everything OK? I said where are you? You’re like 45 minutes late. She says we’re in the restaurant, seated in the corridor room . They had been seated at the previous table for 45 minutes!. I let them know we’re in the main dining room. They came over by themselves ,No apologies from the manager no apologies from the front. We’re so sorry for the inconvenience! obviously they don’t have good communication upfront or with their manager. What’s done is done let’s get the party started. We’re all hungry. and already knew what we wanted because we’ve been looking at the menu for an hour. Our food was served an hour later but it’s OK. Great conversation., enjoying appetizers and salads., I order the a combo special.. Paisano shrimp always an excellent choice, scallops, and stuffed shrimp w/ crab well the stuff shrimp was more stuffing than crab,,then one of my scallops is raw, after waiting an hour for your entrée there’s no excuse for a ra scallop that takes 8 to 10 minutes to cook, three guest ordered the chicken with capers always an excellent choice, when it’s not served lukewarm,, now I am disappointed and annoyed ,I’d like to talk to the manager first of all for the 45 minute inconvenience of our guests seated and waiting in another room! Do you think the manager would’ve gone over there to check to see if everything was all right? Its inexcusable to be that inefficient and not check on your guests, who’ve been sitting there for 45 minutes and haven’t ordered any thing,, so the manager comes over and instead of apologizing and trying to make things right he blames us for changing tables and having my guest inconvenience for 45 minutes,. I was just very disappointed how he handled it blaming us for changing tables and being completely inconvenienced. we still ordered coffee and dessert, which was fabulous but the whole experience with the manager unapologetic for the inconvenience obviously a lack of professional management /communication between management and staff . If things are not running efficiently or properly, it’s not the staff. It’s the manager. It’s his responsibility to oversee everything. OK I got it down to where I’m at . ,We come in from Austin to go to this restaurant and we’ve always had excellent service and cuisine, never a problem in over 20 yrs. , this was the first time I have to say I was very disappointed! don’t think will be hosting a party here again.. at least not at...
Read moreIn celebration of my sister’s birthday, we came to Paesanos for dinner since we’d been a few times to this specific location and appreciated the food, service, and atmosphere every time. Unfortunately today wasn’t like that. Once being seated and given our menus it took a while for our server to actually come to our table for introductions, drinks, and appetizers. Once we got that in it was truly a waiting game. After our first drinks were dropped off we didn’t see the server for a while until she came to take our order and once that was put in, it was another waiting game. She was serving us and the table next to us. But it was painfully obvious that she was far more interested in catering to the table next to us.
For reference, we were a table of younger Hispanic women with our mom, and the table next to us was full of older white people. With that being said, take it as you will.
On multiple occasions, she was taking their drink orders, going to the pos to put them in, waiting for the drink, then serving them all while we were sitting at our table just waiting without any acknowledgment or check in from her. Throughout our entire dinner it was like that and it was honestly embarrassing. Almost immediately after our food was dropped off and her initial “how is everything,” she didn’t really check on us. We had to ask for refills twice at different times, had to ask another person to get a manager to switch one of the pastas shortly after getting them since it was going to be faster to get to them than wait for her to check on us, and had to wait a while after we finished eating to even get offered to go boxes and ask for the check. She truly came up to us about 4 times the entire dinner. After being disappointed with some of the worst service we’d ever gotten, we were just ready to pay and leave. At one point after we had been ready to get the check and were just waiting, we didn’t see her on the floor at all and noticed she was seated in some side/back room. Taking a break or doing other regular tasks, no problem at all, truly understood it. But the nail in the coffin for us was that after she came out of the room she made a beeline to the table next to us and proceeded to get them set up to go long before even addressing us.
It was honestly beyond disrespectful that the table next to us was serviced and addressed almost double the amount of times as we were. We weren’t rude, short, or any other variety of unacceptable behavior with her. It was embarrassing, disgusting, and genuinely disheartened me and my family with how clear it was that she did not see us nor the next table as parties to cater to equally. I’m not sure what was going on with our server. We observed that other servers were taking care of the tables around us pretty regularly so I’m not sure where the disconnect was. I’m not sure what Paesano’s standards are, but I really hope...
