I had lunch at Pho Place restaurant and ordered soup and fried chicken as an appetizer. When the chicken arrived, it was soaked in fish sauce. I immediately told the waitress that I was allergic to fish sauce and didn't expect the fried chicken to be wet. She said that that's the way it's served and walked away. When I was ready to pay for the soup, she stated that I needed to pay also for the chicken, to which I informed her again that I wasn't paying for something that I could not and should not consume. (She would not take my money to just pay for the soup.) I asked to speak with the manager, and she said the manager was not there. Then she warned me that if I didn't pay for the chicken, she was going to call the police! I told her to go ahead and call because if I consumed the chicken they would have to call an ambulance instead. The worker (manager) also stated that he pays $6,000 a month for rent and he couldn't afford to waste money because I refused to pay for the $14.99 appetizer! Please note that I did not sample or touch the chicken in any way. When I observed how wet the chicken was the waiter informed me it was soaked in fish sauce. I later learned from the manager that this was drowned in fish sauce because the chicken was too dry! So, I waited over an hour for the police to arrive. Meanwhile, I noticed that the worker (whom I assumed was the manager) took my picture on his camera phone. So, I took his and the waitress's picture, and he had a fit and started shouting at me (with 2 customers observing) not to put his picture on social media (which I had no intentions of doing). Even though he was pointing the camera at me, he said that he was only playing a game on his phone. Two policemen arrived, and I gave them my version of the issue. They were very professional, but after talking with their peers at headquarters for about 15 mins, they told me that I should pay the total bill because it was the restaurant's policy or be arrested for not paying the full bill. As a compromise, I asked if I could get another meal of the same value instead. To my surprise, the manager agreed and prepared a different item for me of the same price as the fried chicken. The police stayed until the meal was prepared and witnessed me paying the bill before they departed. The whole ordeal was very humiliating and embarrassing. By the way, I don't know how I was described to the police because when they arrived they looked very surprised. When I arrived home and viewed the combination fried rice that they had prepared I was disappointed to see that it was very unappealing; the rice was clunked up, and the chicken and beef were hard as a rock. It actually looked like maybe they had given me leftovers from someone else's plate. I immediately threw it in the trash! I am a 70+ grey-haired senior citizen and at no time was I belligerent or disruptive. My mannerism was cool, calm, and respective considering how I was treated. I would not recommended this...
Read moreThis is a gem! The bad reviews are from quite a while ago and should be deleted by Google as the old ones don't pertain to the new owners. My husband devoured his pho and I enjoyed every bite of my bĂșn bĂČ huĂȘ, a very complex soup. It was very authentic, flavorful, and fresh. I'm not big on the blood cube, but I was willing to try it, since everything else was so good. It was perfect. If you're squeemish about it, just ask for the soup without it. Same with the pig knuckle. I do like the pig knuckle and it was also done right. But again, you can ask them to omit this. There will be plenty of other tender meat in the soup. The flavors were all on point! This is one of the best bĂșn bĂČ huĂȘs I've ever had. I didn't take pictures, but I'll include a poster that's on the window, because this is exactly how it looked.
The pho broth was made from scratch and with real beef bones. Here you'll get the authentic bone broth that's cooked for 30 hours. I'm going to take all my friends here for Vietnamese. And I'll be back to try all their other entrees and appetizers.
My husband also got the Vietnamese iced coffee and it's delicious. It's authentic and they give you a good sized cup (not the small cup).
I gave the atmosphere 3 stars, because it's not anything exciting. Just a diner feel, but it's clean and tidy. I do like that there are some booth seats though.
Support this awesome restaurant. The owners are so nice and they're...

UPDATE- ATTENTION MILITARY VETERANS- Have been ordering take out from this place since they opened, something like a year. After the first couple times ordering from there an employee told me that they had a military discount for active duty and veterans. Excellent! I'm a disabled veteran and showed him my I.D. A couple weeks ago I placed an order to go and apparently was checking out with the owner. When I showed him my military I.D. he told me that they did not offer a military discount. We went back and forth a bit about how for the last year I've been getting a military discount, etc. etc. He didn't give me the discount. This last time ordering from there for my family, from the owner again, I asked if he'd thought anymore about the discount. He reluctantly admitted that they'd always offered a discount but for the veteran only, not his/her family... That's IT for me! Disgraceful the way he wavered. And doubly disgraceful dividing into a veterans family order, after wavering. Place seems to be going downhill too. Pho order was cold and greasy, like it'd been sitting for awhile. Had to ask for the "fixings" that go with...
