Avoid this Snooze location! Let me first say I’ve been a fan of Snooze for a long time, usually eating at the one on I-10 & Huebner, always a great experience!. This time I was in the Stone Oak area and decided to come for brunch here (Blanco & 1604) on a Wednesday around 1pm, BIG MISTAKE! From the rude attitude of the hostess, Leticia, not a smile, not a “welcome to Snooze”, just plain ugly attitude… the long wait to get a table, even though the restaurant was half empty and NO ONE person waiting for a table when I arrived. She insisted that I sat at the bar, which I had no desire to. She then told me with a harsh yet passive-aggressive tone: “then you’re going to have to wait!” and I did. Big mistake! I should’ve left at that moment!… well I thought: “maybe the hostess is just having a bad day, but my meal will be worth the wait”. Wrong. When I finally got a table, I was promptly approached by the waitress and she was friendly, thank goodness! I placed my order right away but when I got my plate, it was wrong [ugh], someone else had to bring the side of grits I initially ordered. Oh my goodness, I did not know you could mess up a side of grits, but this Snooze was able to. lol They tested horrible [gags], you couldn’t even taste the grits, they tasted like sour milk, that nasty flavor when milk or yogurt goes bad. That’s all you could taste, sour milk, not like the yummy, cheesy, buttery grits I’m used to. They were simply inedible, they were as sour as the hostess face. Nope, I could not eat them, I almost spat them out of my mouth. I gagged, so I asked the waitress to take them back. So I ended up eating the cold and bland hash browns that initially (and erroneously) came with my Benny’s [sigh]. Overall all the food on my plate was room temperature, not hot, not even warm, room temperature at best. I did not complain, I just ate it. At that moment all I wanted was to pay and leave. Do yourself a favor and go to Le Peep or First Watch for a good breakfast/brunch, they’re both less than 10 minutes away from this Snooze, otherwise chances are you will waste your money here, like I did. $25 including tip, for a horrible brunch experience. Thank you Snooze! By the way, that hostess Leticia gives Snooze a bad name. She has such an ugly, unwelcoming attitude, can’t believe she works as a hostess, she either hates her job or picked the wrong career, she has zero customer service skills. Zero. Too bad for Snooze, can’t recommend this...
Read moreMy recent visit to Snooze was a huge disappointment. I had never set foot in there and arrived with high expectations. I arrived at a decent hour where not to many people were really in the restaurant. We were seated fairly quickly and given menus. A waitress came and introduced herself and said she'd be right with us. After about 5 minutes or so she finally came back and asked if she could get us something to drink. We ordered 2 coffees and she left to get them. Another 5 minutes passed and she came back with our coffee. As soon as she returned we told her we were ready to order. We could only imagine how long it would take to return. I ordered an omelette and hash browns, no toast, and the person with me ordered 3 eggs over medium, and some porridge. After about 20 minutes we received our food minus our porridge. We were told that it would be right out. We waited a few minutes and decided it was best to eat what we had so it wouldn't get cold. We finished our food and waited for the porridge and a refill on our coffee. We asked the waitress about our food and if we could please get a refill on our coffee. She said yes and left. It had been sometime before she came back with some coffee and by this time I'm beginning to get a little perturbed. Still no porridge and we have been there for close to a hour. I stopped our waitress and asked her to please get me my check so we could go. She went to get my check and THEN brought out that elusive porridge. I waited for the person I was with to eat her porridge and paid for our meal and left. The waitress we had only had 2 other tables. Those tables were getting the royal service while we couldn't even receive the peasant service. Disappointed to the point I won't return. Shame. I gave 2 stars only because I believe that the waitress probably knew those other people at the tables and had she known us, we would've received stellar service. Wishful...
Read moreThere is a lot to like about this place for breakfast, but a few areas to improve.
Good: -We were able to get on the wait list virtually which is money on a sunday. We got in and got sat right away. The server was there promptly and got us started. -The good quality is outstanding. My wife had the Huevos Tostadas which wad amazing. The mole is on point and the peppers are sweet. I had the sweet potato pancakes which were light and sweet, covered in syrup and topped with pecan and powdered sugar. -service was on par with how busy it was. They are very popular and were slammed but they turned tables quickly and the food came out in a reasonable amount of time.
OK: -prices. You're going to pay a bit more here. The quality of the entrees is totally worth it, but they are a bit spendy for sides (more later). For example a side of 3 pieces of bacon was $5.25 and 2 eggs were $4.25. -noise level. It's a busy place and has music loud enough to be heard over the din. Not a problem if you have young kids, matter of fact it's preferred so I don't have to be embarrassed by their loudness. But if you want a quiet place to eat, this isn't it.
Improve: -kids menus. Pancakes, quesadillas, eggs and French toast. Not a bad selection, but it comes with a fruit and a hash brown side. Period. No substitutions. Not every kid will eat fruit and hash browns, so it'd be nice to substitute them for something they would actually eat. -restrooms. I hit the men's on the way out and I'd say it's slightly above a circle K in Cleanliness. Overflowing trash, quite the booger collection on the urinal wall, and only 1 urinal and 1 toilet. With as busy as they are, there should be more capacity. Also the sinks were manual operation handles for the soap and water. But at least they had a changing table...
